Hey!!! Good News!!! Cancun Mexican Grill has moved!!!!!

The new address is 6300 N Andrews Av. Ft. Lauderdale! It is close to I95, Andrews Av., and Power Line Rd. and Cypress Creek Rd.

Exit 95 on W. Cypress Creek Rd., (going West of 95). Turn right on Andrews Ave. and look to your right about 2 blocks down. It should be open by the middle of Feb., 2010!! SOON!!!!

The new phone number is 954-938-0951

Yes!!!!!!! Pat is still HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I gave then 2 chances. The first time, the food was so-so. Not the spicy Mexican food one expects.
The 2nd time the food was great but the portion was embarrissingly small. The 12 tortillas on the Nachos Supremos amounted to 12 Doritos, hardly enough to do justice. The $8.95 price turned out to be $10.49. Maybe a charge for the "jalapenos on request" but not sure.
No water was offered while I waited nor any chips and salsa. Not even a hello save for one waiter who managed to speak when he came near me. My impression is that the place gears down to a screeching stop during the off season; at least I hope they will do things right when the tourists appear!
There was only one party besides myself. I witnessed 2 servers reach into the tortilla warmer and fill (for the other table!) a basket of chips with their hands.

They are located in the Hollywood Circle area. Which is easy to find parking and then go walking around afterwards. I have been there many times and have always enjoyed the fun, lively atmosphere. On Friday and Saturday nights they have a live band which are good. The food has always been good as well. I especially like their fajitas. They have a bar and lots of tables. The prices are ok and the food portions are big.

Let me preface this review by stating that I have been to Cancun twice. Once in the middle of the afternoon on a work day, once last Friday for Cinco de Mayo. The first time we just got take-out and the service was fast and the food was good so we decided to go back to celebrate May 5. Now, you would think that a Mexican restaurant would expect to be busy on Cinco de Mayo and plan accordingly, but you would be wrong. We waited nearly TWO HOURS for a table that wasn't bussed and the host never gave us our silverware, we had to get up and get it ourselves. We also were told the wait would be 20-30 minutes so we ordered giant margaritas (16 ozs) and so we were kind of stuck there. If I hadn't ordered such a huge drink, I would have left. Once we were seated, we literally walked into the kitchen ourselves to get the chips and salsa and we were not the only ones doing this. All of the diners were getting angry and the few waiters/waitresses were extremely stressed out. I don't plan on coming back here, there are too many good Mexican restaurants that know how to plan for a holiday rush!

PROS: good food, giant margaritas
CONS: poor service
