No doubt about it, this is the best place when it comes to authentic Japanese cuisine. You'll not find another place like this. The ambiance is perfect.

Food was amazing! Fresh and delicious. But it was very busy and the services was not as good as we hoped for. I will be back, but it is definitely not my favorite sushi restaurant in Orlando!

Ranked #1 in Orlando among sushi restaurants and located at Historic Marketplace on Church Street, Amura Japanese Restaurant has earned prominent reputation thanks to its relaxing atmosphere, individualized hospitality, and mouth-watering sushi. Since coming across the colorful and old-style brick park place, we can enjoy the inviting ambience, which inspires us to take a deep breath, loaded with a hearty feeling of peace and love. Then, the welcoming greeting given by the enthusiastic hostess invokes a comfortable warm sensation as a paradisiacal dreamland adventure; also, charming attendants, who are always carrying a friendly smile, delight the lucky visitors with a gracious oriental-accent description about the specialized menu variety offered at Amura Japanese Sushi Bar. At the same time, the freshly prepared seafood aroma expelled from the well equipped kitchen invites us to sit down on either one of the spotless and carefully organized booth tables, or, if you prefer, at the sushi bar cushioned stools, where we have the opportunity to watch the amusing show given by the the professional chefs, who would be pleased to display an interesting spectacle while we decide what to order. Meanwhile, "suave" and melodious instrumental music, along with the absorbed guests savoring the soy-sauce scented feast, reveals the such harmonious tranquility anticipates the best sushi in town. After a short yet worthy pause, our lovely waitress serves a recently-cut sushi meal, with an ambrosial fragrance, and the flavor, superb. Without a doubt, Amura Japanese Sushi Bar is the best fresh sushi restaurant in Downtown Orlando.

We just became fans of the sushi because the only one I eat is the tuna and my wife don't like fish. Someone told us that they have chicken rolls and is just like eat a sushi roll. We went to different places in Orlando to get the chicken teriyaki rolls but we only found one place and we didn't like it. We love this place so much that in the last two months we've been in the restaurant 5 times. The place is great, the people is great, it's not expensive and the food is great. Even the parking is great because this is in downtown Orlando and is close to a parking lot that we always pay $1.50 for 1 hour and a half. We like it so much that we are going today again and I'm dying to take my family to Amura.

I have been eating at Amura since it was first recommended to me in 1996. Before the Dr. Phillips location opened, I drove to downtown for lunch there. Between 2000 and 2003, I worked downtown and dined at Amura at least twice a month. If you aren't in the door before noon, don't go until about 1:30, because the early crowd will fill the place.I highly recommend the Super Crunch Roll; if you like spicy, order the Spicy Super Crunch Roll. The service is exactly what one should expect in a quality sushi house; it takes time to make quality sushi with an awesome presentation.

When visiting Orlando, my husband and I sought out a restaurant with good sushi (for him) and good hibachi (for me). Although none of the on-line descriptions (including their website - which is not helpful at all) indicated that Amura offers hibachi-style cooking (where they cook the food on the grill in front of you), we called and confirmed they did. The meal was fantastic. The sushi was excellent: not the best we've ever had, but very, very good. The hibachi was the best we have had, and we have eaten at 5-10 such restaurants across the country. They season the meat before putting it on the grill, which makes all the difference. Our chef was fairly new, so some of the "tricks" they do weren't executed perfectly, but it was still a good show. On the other hand, the food was excellent. They put cooking a good meal above the showmanship. I usually order hibachi steak, because the chicken can be bland. In this case, I ordered a combination of shrimp, steak and chicken. All were excellent, but the chicken was actually better than the steak! I highly recommend this as a place for anyone looking for good hibachi or sushi. It can be a little pricey, but that is true of most good sushi and hibachi restaurants.

Amura is more like a American Japanese Resturant!
But, what is the matter! We are in America!!!
They are always busy, which show the rotation of the food,,,there is no way their fish is not fresh!!!
A lot of people think it's expensive!!! think about how much food do you get at that price!!!
Their sushi is like King Kong size!!!One roll is enough for me,,, $10 for dinner,,,you can't call that expensive!!!
I just love it!!!!

Sushi has always been scaring to me until that day i put that piece of bubba roll in my mouth.
Ever since then, amura became my favorite resturant.
From the bubba roll, to salmon nigiri. My taste changed just for amura.
Before, I would question my friends, how can you eat fish when it's raw.
Now, I feel like if I don't have sushi, one day!!! I don't know how life it's gonna be.( Ha ha, not that bad, I am joking.)
A lot of people I know, know Amura.
Some like it, some don't.
What I want to say, I work in a resturant. It is not easy work in a resturant.
I always respect my servers, they work really hard.
Especially in a resturant like Amura, busy, very busy.
They have to deal with different people, different requests, they work very hard.
Sushi is hand making food, I don't understand why do people think they can walk in a sushi resturant and their food will be ready like they are in Burgerking, or some kind of fast food resturant.
People make mistake, I do, you do ,everyone does.
If a server makes a mistake, just tell them nicely to fix it, no need to make a big deal out of it.
If the hostess tell you there is a wait, common, that's not their fault!
If you think you don't have time to wait for amura get your sushi ready like a fast food resturant. Go to Publix, their sushi was ready at begining of the day, and has been setting there for the whole day waiting for you to go pick them up!
I just get really mad when people saying bad things about a resturant for a reason that just because they are so selfish.

if you never had sushi before, just go to amura.
i do get feed backs about amura's service
but hello! that resturant is good, their food is good, you can't expect they always have seating for you!
that is a pulic resturant! they do need business, as much as they can.
if you want to have a romatic dinner, go there early! or go there on a day you think it will not be that busy,
but you can't just expect you gonna go there, and the resturant is only open for you!
get over it,

I have been Amura's customer for more than three years and I have tried all the rolls and It's so amazing especially when you try "Volcano Roll" and my favourite is also Bubba Roll. I like the sous they have, such as eel sous, ponzu sous, white sous, spicy mayo, etc and the taste is still the same since three years ago until now. I believe that they have a fixed standard measurement to make all sous. The price is affordable since Amura is the best sushi in Orlando and I think you guys don't mind spending more money to get the best sushi in Orlando.
The presentation is amazing and looks pretty when they put all the rolls in boat. By the way I also like when they put rolls seperate between rolls that have sous and rolls that don't have sous and I think all the sushi chefs are proffesional since they know how to please the customers with some decorations on plate.
I believe that the sushi chefs and other employees are a big asset for the company (Owners) and I am sure that the owner will keep them for long time and will take care of them nicely. I always see the sushi chefs always smile and talk to the customers and I don't see that they looks so tired/hungry or whatever. By the way all the employees have one and half hour break that means they can take a rest/ sleep or whatever, so they are ready for dinner. The waiters/waitress are ok and they have been doing their jobs well. Finally I just want to ask all the sushi fans to stop by and try foods at AMURA. I believe you gonna love it and will be back again.

the reason the service is so bad ... is the owners and managers treat their employees like slaves. they work them ten to sixteen hours a day. An expect them to have no life and only live for them ... So thats why i understand the food looks sloppy and service is bad .... because you dont know when the last time those slave drivers let their employees sleep. So SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE

I have been going to Amura for years and they were the best. Then they raised their prices. Then the quality of the food had diminished . I got a tuna kobachi which is my Favorite. It was greasy with sesame oil. I 'm not sure what they did to it but it was gross. And the manager continues to be rude , but she has always been rude so that's still the same. They are slipping. I'd go to Seito or Fuji.

This Amura had been my favorite sushi since moving to Orlando - always the pick for that special date night. Our last visit was our last. Our waitress was new so a mistaken appetizer was forgivable. The inedible eel roll was not. After telling our waitress that the eel was bad, she told the manager who didn't even stop by our table. She told the waitress to show us the disclaimer on the menu, "if you order it, you pay for it." It's not like we ordered something new and we just didn't know better. THE FISH WAS BAD! And I don't care that we had to pay for it but they didn't even care that the fish was turned. Yikes.

I've been going to Amura's for about 5 years now and it's still my favorite place to go for sushi. Sure you can find better values elsewhere, but the quality of the fish and the presentation are wonderful.

Any of the rolls are highly recommended, my favorites are: Volcano roll (the best), Spicy Tuna roll, Amura Press (Salmon and Tuna), Unbelievable Roll, Bubba Roll (safe for those who don't eat raw fish), and Unagi (eel).

The place has been renovated recently which definitely helped the place as it was looking quite aged. However, now it looks more contemporary and hip. The only negative is the often long wait at lunch. It's a very popular spot for the lunch crowd. You may wait up to 30 minutes just to get a table and if you have a large party, it may be even longer. Get there before 11:30am or after 12:30pm for fast seating.

Additionally, for those who don't want sushi, they offer lunch specials as well. It's all good.

PROS: Great Sushi! Nice ambiance
CONS: Long wait at lunch, pricey

After recieving an unfresh spicy tuna roll, I attempted to speak to my server who was nowhere to be found. I walked over to the hostess and she came over and said nothing could be done. She walked away and exchanged words with her manager, whom didn't bother to come over to my table and see what the problem was. The server finally returned from the back and I asked for her manager. The manager then walked over to our talbe and said, " I'm sorry this is not like ordering taco's, we can't just throw this "fresh" fish away. You're going to have to pay for that and if you don't, you are a "rhymes with chief" starts with a "th" The system will not let me spell the word.

I paid. And I as I left, I heard her on her cell phone referencing me as "hispanic." Not once did I reveal my ethnicity. Thankfully, there was a fellow hispanic Amura's employee

My mission is to make sure everyone who doesn't tolerate racial discrimination is aware that the Amura's on Church St. in downtown Orlando's manager, Susan, was completely unprofessional and derogatory.

So I heard about all the rave; and it was more than disappointing. Besides the awful inconsistent service, it's lousy and nothing makes up for it except that it's supposed to be japanese food. Supposed to be. Food was sloppy served. There was awful art to it. If you're gonna serve Japanese food and jack up the price.. you really have to give something to make it up for it. On top of that, they serve the rolls in massive sizes and in baking plates. If you're looking for a hype, it's fun once every three months. If you're looking to taste so called japanese food, move along.

Before having gone, we heard nothing but outstanding ravings about this place. When we finally went, the service was terrible. We never had a consistent waiter, the food took about 40 min ? to an hour and on top of that, our sushi arrived at varied times, I had ordered two rolls and I got one roll served 20 minutes before the 2nd one arrived. The food was ok, nothing out of this world. I was very disappointed and I don?t think I would go back any time soon. I think I can get just as good quality ingredients, more variety and better service at my usual sushi place, Seitos?.

Pros: Unique design and style of restaurant

Cons: Bad service, crowded, loud

The place seems to raise their prices every week! Couple that with the long, (I mean long!)wait and you have a place that I just can't recommend! There

PROS: Good food, once you get it!
CONS: Long waits, HIGH prices

I have been to nearly every talked-about sushi restaurant in town and NOBODY has anything that compares to Amura's dynamite roll. The atmosphere is okay; seating is very close together so not a lot of privacy, but the food makes it worth it!

Pros: Dynamite Roll!

Cons: Seating, crowded

There is a large variety of delicious rolls to choose from. My fiancee and I try a new one every time we visit, which is about once a month. The food is great, the presentation is impressive, and the prices are fair.

We went there on a Saturday night. Although it was very crowded we got seated within 30 minutes as promised. Seating is odd but with all the crowd our food still came within acceptable time. Sushi was fresh and good.

This restaurant has a great location downtown on church street. We have gone there often. THe sushi is excellant and we always have great service. They have another location out in Dr. Phillips. It was just as good.

PROS: Great sushi everytime
CONS: A little expensive....because we eat a lot. :)

While other restaurants are closing their doors all over downtown - Amura is packed everyday. They have a great lunch special that is priced around $5.95-$7.95, including a soup and salad. Excellent value. Very fresh. Prompt service. They have a new location on Sand Lake Rd. with a more decor, but the prices are a tad higher also.

I don't understand all the previous reviews, because honestly the place just isn't that good. It's OK, the sushi is ok, the service is ok. The menu is so intensive it is confusing. Dont bring a date, the lighting is not flattering and the seating is odd. But again it's ok! If Ichiban is too crowded then go to Amura, but you will have an OK time. There are so many rolls, you can't tell one from another!
