I have been going to Sam's for years. Very close to where 275 and Dale Mabry meet. Great atmosphere. I have never had a bad steak there. The breads are always fresh and the salads are fantastic. Go big! 2 lb prime rib with extra horseradish.

My family went to the Sam Seltzer's in Brandon, FL to celebrate my mother's birthday. What a celebration.
Even with reservations made days beforehand, it took over 30 minutes to be seated. Once seated at table, the service was so slow and terrible that it took over 1 and a 1/2 hours to actually get our food. 2 of the 3 children in our party fell asleep during that time. Parties that were seated after us were served before us.

When the food did arrive, it certainly was not worth the wait. When we called the manager to the table, he briefly apologized, had no explanation for the horrendous service, and never offered to lower the bill. We will never go to Sam Seltzer's again.

ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO, I WENT THERE WITH MY WIFE AND TOLD HER "NEVER AGAIN". THE STEAK WAS TO TOUGH. BUT BECAUSE MY WIFES GRANFATHER WANTED TO TAKE US THERE, WE HAD NO CHOICE AND HAD TO GO. THIS VISIT BY FAR, WAS ONE OF THE WORST DINING EXPERIENCES I HAVE EVER HAD. NORMALLY I WALK OUT OF A RESTAURANT AFTER 5 MINUTES IF THE WAITER HASNT TAKEN AT A MINIMUM A DRINK ORDER. THE ONLY REASON I DIDNT WAS MY WIFES GRANFATHER. 20 MINUTES AFTER BEING SEATED, WE PLACE OUR DRINK ORDER. 10 MINUTES AFTER THAT WE ALL ORDERED THE ALL YOU CAN EAT SHRIMP AND WE WERE TOLD IT WOULD BE OUT IN A MATTER OF MINUTES SINCE SHRIMP COOKS SO QUICKLY. AN HOUR LATER WE WERE STILL WAITING FOR THAT SHRIMP. THE WORST PART WAS THE WAITER TOLD US HE HAD TALKED WITH THE MANAGER AND THAT THE MANAGER WAS GOING TO COME OVER AND TALK TO US. 2 MINUTES LATER HE WALKED RIGHT ON BY LIKE IT WAS BUSINESS AS USUAL. AT THAT TIME MY WIFE GOT HIS ATTENTION AND TOLD HIM WE WERE OUTTA HERE. WE DID GET A GOOD LAUGH OUT OF IT THOUGH. IT WILL BE FOREVER REMEMBERED AS THE SAM SELTZERS ALL YOU "CANT" EAT SHRIMP SPECIAL. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Long time resident, first time customer. From front door to dining rooms to rest rooms, PERFECT. Very good service by new wait person named Leo, manager paid a visit to table.
One of the best meals of 'Roast of Lamb with ribs' I ever had. Perfect salad ( made for me, my way ), excellent baked potatoe, and great coffee came with our SUPER deserts.
Will now be a regular, steady customer. Thank you Sam

Went to one of the Seltzer steakhouses after hearing good reviews. Table location at the end of the bar, foot traffic was terrible. Table dirty. I actually witnessed the bus help dry an adjacent table with the wrapped silverware napkin after he set the table for the next customer. That means someone was wiping their mouth with a napkin wet from the washing prior.

I ordered a Prime rib cut, 1 pound. I was served an 8oz rib eye. I would probably eat here again if all of the local McDonalds close down. In all honesty though, I complained via the net, and they sent a 25.00 gift certificate to "make nice". Not bad for a 100.00 meal for three.

Avoid like the plague.

as for lobster or crab rolls here sams has 2 strikes on it a steak house and second it in tampa not new england coast so whle sams can do a good lobster which is easy to make stay away from the other seafood as if you want good sea food go to at least go to places near docks over in clearwater beachs and south. also a good hint never get a steak in a crab shack and never get seafood in a steak house. this rule is true even in NY were overall the best food in the country can be found now that new orleans has be kind of knocked out of the running. as new orleans and new york had the over all best food in the country not saying you can get great food else were as the southwest has great texmex it lacks in other types and the same is true in new england great seafood but but again found lacking in other types.

Pros: the specials are a great deal

Cons: some times very busy and up to a 45 min wait with out reservations

My wife and I tried the Brandon location. Everything was great except part of the meal. We had prompt service, and thought we received a lot of food for the price. My wife had the Happy Hour Prime Rib special which was great. I decded to try their Lobster Seafood roll. Being from New England, I've had many lobster rolls, so I know a good lobster roll when I taste one. The one at Sams Seltzer's was the absolute worst one I've every had! They mix the lobster/seafood salad with a vinegar base sauce. All you taste is the vinegar and no lobstrer at all. That is like putting mustard on a peanut butter & jelly sandwich. Just awful. We have eaten at Sams several times in other locations and have always hhad a good meal. I'll never get the lobster/seafood roll again.

I highly recommend the Brandon Town square Sam Seltzer's over the others. They have a better menu, large open seating and the food and coffee was much better. I recently tried the Dale Mabry location because I was so impressed with Brandon. But I have to say I would only go back to DM for the main course and our waiter was very helpful with steak selection. The staff at DM is more mature and better suited for a buisness dinner. Both are great and very classy. But Brandon will always have a warm stop in my belly.

My husband go here every anniversary, it is a wonderful place, great food, good service, and love their butcher shop. Where else can you get ground sirloin for 1.09 a pound.

No matter what I order here - it is always good. Their steaks are always excellent and barely need the tangy seasoning on every table. the fresh rools and the salad that come with almost every meal alone would be worth coming here.
The only downside here is that they do tend to have a wait if you show up at prime dinner time - but if you come in early or wait until after the rush is over you shouldn't have any problem. And it is always a pleasure to eat there

My girlfriend and I went to Tampa for Vacation. We stayed at the Holiday Inn right next to Sam Seltzers Steakhouse. We highly recommend this restaurant to everyone! The food is great, large portions, the value is great. Better steak, cheaper prices compared to big name places. Immediate seating, friendly over and above host, and waiter/waitress (only because we went twice...couldn't resist) The steak was delicious, as well as the chicken. The appetizers were incredible, and the salad that came along with out entrees were fresh, crisp, and full of color. The ambience is very nice dimly lit, giving it a touch of romance. The light jazz in the background was great. Service was great! A+ Highly recommended!

SERVER was perfect, even suggested things for my 6 month old baby. Restaurant General Mgr. was circulating checking on guests!!! Very nice place, love the jazz in the background!!! WILL GO AGAIN!!!!

I have been to Sam Seltzers a few times and each time has been a below par experience. On time waited nearly an hour to get a table, another waiter messed up on my order and before it got to table everyone else was mostly done eating. Another time steak was poorly tasting, I wish I had gone to McDonalds. If you want good steak come over to my house. I can barbecue ten times better than they can!!!!

Of all the better steakhouses in the Tampa area this is the best value of all. I have had world traveled clients to Sam's and request a return each time they return.

On the weekends you have to have an early dinner or a long wait.

I have drove by the Tampa store for years, and went with friends last week. This was the worst steak I have ever had. Our server seemed to have so much more to do than serve us, and then when dinner did come out, we were all very disapointed. I have had better steaks at Chili's. If you want a great steak in Tampa, try ANY of the others on the list but this one.

I am truely surprised that this place is still in business. After two attempts to get decent food and service here, I found that it was the absolute worst steakhouse we had been to.

We have been going to Sam Seltzer's in Sarasota near Siesta Key for a few years now. We vacation every year on Siesta Key for 1-2 months. We have repeatedly gone back to your restaurant, and in fact, we have recommended it to even long time snowbirds who haven't tried it yet. I would say that in teh 1-2 months we are down there, we eat there at least twice a week. We are from the Pittsburgh, PA area, and wish they would expand up North. All I can say is that everything is EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!

Before the opening of the Port Richey restaurant we traveled to Clearwater twice and the dinner and service was excellent. However, our last two visits to Port Richey we were dissatisfied with the dinner. The service was fine but the meat was not cooked to our order. I ordered the 12 oz. and my wife ordered the 8 oz. and when the dinner was served they looked the same even though the server denied it. We feel the Clearwater restaurant far surpasses the Port Richey but we do not want to travel the distance for dinner.
