Taquitos Jalisco

★★★★★
The interior is designed like a rundown south-of-the-border cantina, but the food is top-of-the-line Mexican.

Nice restaurant off the beaten path. The tacos are exceptionally good, but anything I've ordered has been good. Prices are great. Note if you want a quiet dinner don't go on the night they have the Mariachi band playing.

The company I work for hired a Mexican national to head up our Hispanic marketing efforts about three years ago. A few weeks after starting with us, he introduced me to Taquitos Jalisco. A friend of his from years earlier opened it. In his opinion, they serve the most authentic Mexican cuisine in town. I've eaten there, on average, once every two months ever since. The friendly staff seat you promptly (the weekend nights there can be a wait for a table) and the owner is there most days to make sure you enjoy your visit. I recommend the Burro Magnifico: a massive burrito with pablano peppers, beef, and the salsa negra (hot) poured over the top. My wife gets the same, but with the milder salsa tomatillo. Prices are reasonable and, in most cases, quantities are high. Live music on Friday and Saturday nights.

Pros: Good, authentic food; good staff; safe location; HUGE deslicious burrito (Burro Magnifico)

Cons: strip mall location; thin steak dishes not the greatest deal
