Sonoma Cafe is a superb restaurant. I sat at the bar, and the bartender Gina, was great! What a personality. She served amazing drinks. I had the Weiner schnitzel and it was the best meal ever. I will be back to Sonoma without a doubt!

Our visit to Sonoma was less like a dining experience and more like a smack-down with the wait staff and owner. Don't bother going for Happy Hour. The bar area is way to small to accommodate. If the hostess seats you in any other area of the restaurant, and promises Happy Hour prices ... it's just a ploy to overcharge your credit card at the end of the meal. If the waiter serves you the Two Dollar Kobe Burgers during Happy Hour, be sure your drinks will be jacked up to reflect restaurant prices. By the way, be sure to be specific about your spirits because they like to slip in the top shelf when you order, say, a rum and Coke. Of course, they charge you dearly for it as well. If you ask for cheese on your Kobe burgers, be sure to have the request witnessed and notarized because if the kitchen does not come through with the slices of cheese on your burger, your waiter will be sure to dispute your ever requesting cheese. Now, if the owner, Dagmar, gets involved, be sure that you will need back-up because she will fight you to the end. By the way, she works 12-16 hours a day. We know this because her argument for crappy service was that she is overworked. Further, don't worry about making friends with the wait staff because when all is said and done, he will clearly tell you that he "hopes he never sees you again".Since there was no love-loss here, I am sure he never will see us again. If you'll excuse me, I need to heal from the embarrassment of being told-off by most of the staff at Sonoma.

We walked into Sonoma on the off chance that we might be lucky enough to get a table without having a reservation and, boy, did we get lucky. Not only were they able to seat us within a few minutes, but the service we received, as well as the absolutely delicious meals, decadent desserts and supberb french press coffee were out of this world.

The pear and goat cheese bruschetta appetizer was big enought to serve 4 people and was absolutely delicious. I ordered the veal oscar, which was cooked to perfection and my fiance had one of the specials for the evening which was grouper, also absolutely delicious. We shared the chocolate cake for dessert, along with a delicious pot of french press coffee.

Our server, Belinda, was right on the ball for our entire meal and in addition, she was friendly and never rushed us at all. In fact, as we sat and listened to the music which began towards the end of our meal, she invited us to stay a little longer, enjoy some more coffee and listen to the entertainer for as long as we wanted. Now tell me, how often do you get that, a lot of restaurants try and rush you out so they can fill your table.

So, our meal was wonderful, dessert was terrific, our server was outstanding and guess what...the check, wasn't even that high. For want we received, you'd expect to pay a lot more. We were very happy, all the way around and will definitely be returning to Sonoma again and again.

Their website, if you want to check it out is http://sonomacafe.net/

I wish I had an email address to share with you, but can't seem to find one anywhere. If and when I do, I will update my review here.

New Hot Spot in Delray Beach. Excellent service, great food. A little noisy when crowded.
