I did not get the cake I paid for different shape and the topping I paid extra for the topping to be made out of fondant and I was never given a call letting me know they were changing things. The topping was plastic and the cake was completely different. They could have at least given me the the chance to say yes or no. I paid a lot for a cake that was not to my specification and the quest did't like the cakes either they were dry.

If I could give this no stars I would. I loved the cakes and they were beautiful, tasted good....but not AT ALL what I asked for. I sent them pictures from Afhanistan, because I was overseas planning my wedding. I sent about 10-15 emails regarding the complete specifics of my wedding. Down to every single detail that you could imagine. IF in fact, they could not do this at any time, I would have gone elsewhere, but I was assured it would be exactly as pictured, as well as some things changed to my liking, that were written very clearly.

Needless to say when I got my cake, I flipped out, both the grooms cake and the wedding cake were so off from what I asked and he told me he could accomplish, that I feel like I was a victim. When I contacted him, he stated, thats all i could do, sorry....I am so dissapointed and to any bride out there, please go somewhere else. Yes the cakes LOOK amazing, and if it were for someone elses wedding, then I would be impressed,,,,,but it was mine, and the most photographed item, besides the bride and groom are the cakes...and they were seriously mistaken if they think that I was happy to shell out 900 dollars...for a cake that I did not ask for..go elsewhere!!

Unfriendly Staff, Overpriced cakes, awful customer service, will never use or recommend them...ever again! the staff acts as if they are doing the paying customer a favor ! one would be better off with publix as they actually try to please their customers. I ordered tiramisu...got dry vanilla. Ordered rasperry filling...got a cherry, medicine-like flavor! I paid $145 and it ended up in my trash. I was humiliated by the looks & taste of my cake, apologized to my guest and purchased a cake at publix. Very upsetting. The staff including the owner look angry or just sad to be working there. There are plenty of places that want new business and I simply can't see the big deal about these dry cakes. last but not least Pleaseee don't even try the giant cupcakes ! they seem to be cupcakes on hormones and you can actually taste the cheap ingredients!

I can??t even believe I??m writing this because I put this cake shop on such a pedestal since I planned my wedding in 2005. I contacted Beautiful Cakes By Ron, located in Sarasota, when the to do my grooms cake - and ended up not doing a grooms cake. However, I??ve been a big fan of his work since finding him. I myself am an amateur cake designer and I know good work when I see it and he is amazing. So when the time came for me to order a cake for my husband??s 35th birthday party, I called BCBR first.
After speaking with a gentlemen there in mid September I described the cake I wanted ?? a sculpted Bucs football helmet for about 30 people ?? and was quoted between $85 - $90. Anyone that knows anything about cakes knows that is a great price. So I accepted and was SOOO excited they were doing it. I spoke with the 3x after that. They emailed me once to verify the details of the cake, I called back and said everything was fine. Ok, then I called about the flavor and they gave me the info I needed. The third time I called and spoke with Ron. Ron suggested a great flavor and asked what I was quoted for the cake. I told him $85-90. Ok?all set!
Today they call for to verify the pick up time and to obtain a credit card number to charge the cake to. I give them all the info and ask them the charge amount. The woman I spoke to told me $145. Obviously I was confused. I questioned it and she says there is no way that??s what I was told and that she??s the one that quoted me the cake. I had NEVER in my conversations with BCBR had I spoke with a woman. She insisted. I explained very clearly and professionally that if they had told me $145 when I called them a month ago, I would??ve paid it without a problem - the cost didn??t matter to me. It??s the principle that you told me twice that the price was $50 less. That??s just bad business. After the woman basically told me I was crazy ?? not to mention a liar, I asked to speak with Ron. She was VERY unpleasant and borderline rude. NO WAY would a business owner stand for an employee talking to a customer this way..right??
I proceeded to tell Ron my story. Including of course my willingness to pay that price, but my frustration that I??d been quoted something else by another gentleman AND HIM! I remained calm and professional in venting my frustration to him. Telling him what an admirer I was of his work, and was surprised to be receiving this kind of service. Ron proceeded to explain to me that this is what the cakes cost, and why they cost so much?PERIOD. I MISUNDERSTOOD what I was getting ?? I must have thought I was getting a sheet cake ???? WHAT?? I emailed them pictures with a detailed description of what I wanted. I confirmed 3x that I was getting a 3D CARVED CAKE. He made no mention of the mistake they had made, only that I was confused ?? not misled. He continued to say ??Listen I don??t have time for this?? He was not going to argue the price of the cake with me ?? NOT what I was doing to begin with - Do I want the cake or not he asked. This is what it costs ?? period. SO I started to say, ya know what the party is 5 days away and of course I still wanted the cake ?? BUT before I could finish RON interrupted me and said and I quote ??Ya know what we??re not doing this cake. I don??t want to feel like your upset with us we??re not going to do this, So ya know what you??re going to have to find someone else for Sunday.? AND HUNG UP ON ME.
I assure you my friends, I was COMPLETELY professional. NEVER raised my voice, just voiced my frustration. I work in customer service and I know better than to be rude when you??re trying to come to an understanding. All Ron would??ve had to say as a business owner is ??Ya know I??m sorry this happened, there was a mix up somewhere, this is what we charge and we??d love to do it if you??d like.? And I would??ve accepted that, chalked it up to a mistake on their part, appreciated the apology and said GREAT SEE YOU SATURDAY. Instead Ron provided me with the worst experience I??ve ever had with a cake shop, or any other vendor I??ve ever worked with. I??ve planned my wedding from top to bottom, parties at my home, and for the company I worked for and NEVER been treated this way before. Mistakes happen, no one is perfect, and as a business owner you have to be prepared to admit that sometimes I feel. Fact of the matter is Ron makes some AMAZING, very expensive cakes and doesn??t need my little $150 cake. And that is exactly how he treated me ?? like I didn??t matter. I was left totally disappointed and with no cake :(
