Although I have already previously submitted a review for this midwife, it is with a heavy heart that I feel impelled to add to it. In the last two years Kelli Johnson has lost two full term babies - the baby girl in 2013 was lost in almost IDENTICAL circumstances to my son - as well as leaving another baby girl with serious physical impairments, including seizures. In February 2004 my son was left with catastrophic disabilities because Kelli Johnson was totally unaware there was a serious problem, furthermore she did not transfer me to hospital (ignoring my birth plan) even though I was pushing for five hours; meaning hospital intervention was, in fact, required by law. Once my son was born she was agonizingly slow to react and nor did she carry the requisite resuscitation equipment that may have prevented or at least lessened the oxygen deprivation my son suffered. I fully understand that there may be skepticism about the veracity of my account especially as the Florida Department of Health - although currently investigating these cases and more - is moving at a snails pace. AlI I urge you to do before placing the safety of your baby in the unskilled hands of someone who has no compunction about lying, committing forgery and has at least three lawsuits pending is simply to talk to several other midwives in the area. If I am a bitter ex client who's distorting the truth and giving home births a bad name then they will be only too quick to say so because my reviews - if untruthful - are devastating to the midwifery community. If they do not contradict this information then read between the lines and please, please, please go elsewhere so you may deliver the healthy baby that Kelli Johnson robbed me - and other women - of. Whatever your decision, I wish you a joyful, peaceful birth.

I can say this, Kelli is a very personable, involved midwife. However, I cannot continue to recommend her. She has operated outside her scope of practice too many times. I am a huge proponent of homebirth, but what makes homebirth a safe option is the willingness of the midwife to refer care to a physician when need be. When I had my first child with her I had a third degree tear. I am absolutey positive of this. She told me, and hello, when the care provider has to go inside your rectum to finish up, it's pretty obvious. Yet, years later, she told me no, it was a second degree tear, and showed me where she'd charted it as such. I found out later that it is illegal for her to stitch a third degree tear, so that is why she felt she had to lie about it. She never told me that, never gave me the option of going to the hospital to be stitched. Jut made that decision for me, without telling me it was outside her licensing. Had she explained that it was outised her scope of practice, but she felt she could do it, maybe I would still have agreed to it. But she didn't give me that option. She took the power away from me to make my own informed medical decision. She also recommended a copper IUD for me. She did NOT tell me that she is not licensed to place them. She had me order one myself, giving me a convoluted reason she couldn't order them. Then she tried to place it on several, separate occiasoins. The pain was immense. It was as bad as labor. And yet she couldn't get it in. She then told me to come back again, for a third attempt, after I had gotten my cycle back postpartum. First, that would leave me vulnerable to pregnancy, second, no way was I going through that pain a third time. I did some research, and found out she wasn't licesned to even do IUDs! Again, she never told me that. Never gave me the option of going to the doctor to do it. Even after she failed to insert it not once, but twice, she still said to come back to her for it, rather than suggesting I try doing it at the OB's office. I did, on my own, go to an OB, where they gave me a cervical block and placed it with zero problems and no pain to speak of. A totally different experience. And they used an ultrasound to check placement afterwards. I sought out midwifery care because I was tired of doctors taking my choices away, and not respecting me. But Kelli Johson did the same. There are other homebirth midwives in the area that will give you the facts and let you decide, and that operate within their scope of practice. Use one of them. I thought I could trust Kelli, she exuded confidence and warmth, but she betrayed that trust, and that is not okay, and it isn't safe. If she will lie about those things, what else is she lying about?

Kelli is wonderful!! "Anonymous G" has not been able to present a case for any deficiency whatsoever on Kelli's part. I can personally share that I have had my last two children with Kelli. My first child was planned to be birthed at the Winter Park Birthing Cottage but unfortunately that birth ended in a C-Section. Once I aligned myself with Kelli for my last two pregnancies, she has been a guiding light of strength, knowledge, goodness, and capacity that bolstered my own female strength to help me peacefully bring into this world children that will forever be marked by the way they were beautifully ushered here to this life. Kelli is in a league of her own and is constantly informing herself and maintaining herself abreast of developments both medically, nutritionally, and those in the midwifery community. Her knowledge and strength are unparalleled here in Central Florida and she is truly a credit to the practice. Oh, and Alison H from 2009, if Kelli's sub-par care and falsification is in fact true, and as heinous a picture as you have painted, please take the time to explain to us all how it is that she is still in practice!? As an attorney myself, I can personally attest to the thoroughness and diligence with which she documented all of my care. I am truly sorry that your child wrapped his cord around his neck in utero and have sent a prayer for the greatest good to always follow you and your child.

Please, for the sake of your child, choose someone else to handle your care and labor. She pretends to care but is only concerned about money. She also pretends to know a lot of things that she doesn't. My baby was delivered under rare,

Kelli delivered my 2nd baby at home. I will be forever grateful to her for helping me have faith in myself and deliver a baby the way God intended. She is more trained in labor and birth than any OB you will come across. She knows women and babies!

I had great prenatal care. She was very sweet and caring. She also recognized how sick I was at the very end of my pregnancy and transfer me to the care of an OB. Overall my experience with her was great.

My son cannot walk, talk, crawl or sit because of Kelli Johnson's botched midwifery attempt and had the paramedics not arrived so quickly he would most certainly have died. I pushed for 5 hours and she failed to identify that there was a problem, a serious problem, the cord was wrapped tightly round my son's neck twice. He came out blue, lifeless and silent with his head lolling backwards - Kelli Johnson unraveled the cord, scooped him up and handed him to me. My husband and I (who have no medical training) yelled at her immediately that he was dead. After gently rubbing him and calling out his name several times, which took a long and wasted minute - he had no heart-rate and wasn't breathing so her technique had absolutely no chance of working - she then began CPR. Her only resuscitation equipment was an oxygen cannister with a tube attached which she waved in front of my son's face (the paramedics made a point of citing her dismal equipment in their written report.) We watched with growing horror as the realization dawned on us that she was never going to be able to revive him with her inadequate equipment. Mercifully the paramedics arrived in time to save our son but he has been left with catastrophic disabilities. Kelli Johnson then purposely and deliberately choose to alter her records, make false statements and handed over 5 forms that she claimed I signed - my signature was forged on every form. She blames everyone except herself (including the paramedics) for my son's injuries and clearly believes that her deceit is a necessary and worthwhile sacrifice to try and eliminate any chance of my son receiving an insurance settlement. Thankfully she was as good at that as she is at midwifery and ultimately the truth did prevail however it has left me devastated that someone in a caring profession could be so disingenuous. We could have eventually come to terms with the horrific injuries she caused, but not her concerted and deliberate efforts to get out of trouble.

Kelli Johnson did not realize (throughout 27 hours of labor and 5 hours of pushing) that the cord was tightly wrapped twice around my son's neck, nor did she recognize, when he was born, that he was dead. After unraveling the cord Kelli Johnson handed me a motionless, blue silent baby with his head lolling backwards and only reacted when my husband and I (neither of us have any medical training but we could tell instantly that there was something very seriously wrong) shouted that he was dead. She failed to bring any resuscitation equipment with her and all she had was an oxygen cannister with a narrow tube attached. She was so ill-equipped that the paramedics (who were called by my husband as soon as he realized that Kelli Johnson was totally out of her depth trying to resuscitate our son) made a point of specifically referring to her lack of equipment in their written report.
During labor my husband and I repeatedly asked Kelli whether pushing for this length of time was normal. Not only did she insist it was, she also dismissed out of hand any suggestion that there could be something wrong. As a result of her inability to detect a critical problem my son will never walk, talk, crawl or even sit unaided.
To then compound things most of her records were altered before being handed over to be examined by the Health Department Officials and the Attorneys (Investigators from the Department of Health were also later called in) - for example my due date was January 16th but Kelli let me go 16 days past my due date however when her records were handed over my due date was suddenly January 28th. This meant my home check (done at 36 weeks) was, according to her records, now inexplicably done at 34 weeks likewise my prenatal visits that should (and did) change from monthly to every other week at 28 weeks according to her records switched to every other week at 26 weeks. The only thing Kelli was of course unable to alter was the date of all my prenatal appointments hence the conflicting dates Five forms Kelli Johnson sent in, that she claimed I signed, had my signature forged on them. Only one out of the six forms she sent bore my signature; this was her payment form that she did make absolutely sure I signed. She made every effort to make it appear she did nothing wrong - and has recently implicated the paramedics by claiming they did not give my son enough oxygen when he was taken to intensive care and this is what caused the problem (see her reprehensible comment on centralfloridagreenguide.com by searching Kelli Johnson then read her post.) It is all the more shameful that she said this because, by these wonderful people saving our son's life, they also saved Kelli Johnson from getting into much deeper trouble than she already did. Kelli Johnson fought tooth and nail to try and prevent my son from receiving any insurance settlement. Sadly Kelli worked far, far harder falsifying her records than she ever did at trying to save my son's life but thankfully she was unable to even do that without messing it up so ultimately the truth prevailed.

Kelli Johnson has been my midwife for more than seven years now. I also consider her to be my friend. I had two wonderful homebirths experiences with her and would not have had it any other way.

My son was born with his cord around his neck. This is serious as you may well know. She was able to detect that this was the case. Monitered us very closely, gave me extra oxygen and had me push slow, and even did some manual streching of the cord. Everything was perfect. She is so calm, professional, and attentive. Her right action and calm demeanor kept the situation in check. Thank you Kelli!

With my daughter I had the opportunity to labor in a birthing tub. This was great! I did not give birth in the tub, but it was a magnificant labor aid for me.

In the privacy and safety of my own home I was able to welcome the best blessings of my life without fear, but with the support and attentions of an awesome caregiver.I am a strong supporter of homebirths although I realize they are not for everyone. If you are considerng a homebirth, you should definitely get acquainted with Kelli. She could charge more, but she doesn't.

One last thing is that Kelli has great follow up and support system through giving you the opportunity to connect with other homebirth families if you so choose. We have also made some great friends for ourselves and our children.

I gave birth to my daughter under the care of A Mother's Nature Midwidery and would recommend it to anyone looking for a natural, safe and wonderful home birth. I had my baby in the comfort of my own home, with my husband, Kelli and her assistant. Kelly is so caring and genuinely warm, I instantly felt comfortable with her after our first visit together. During the birth I was able to sit, stand and lay in a birth pool. I was completely in control of my birth. I wanted a medication free, all natural birth and that is what we had, thanks to Mother's Nature.
Our next birth will definately be with Kelli (God willing) and at home.

I wanted a medication free, all natural birth and that is what we had, thanks to Mother's Nature.
Our next birth will definately be with Kelli (God willing) and at home.

I havent had my baby yet, so we will see but so far Kelli has impressed me! She is professional when she needs to be, caring as a mama, and very intellegent. She is not only knowledgable about homeopathics and herbals but also about traditional medicine. She reads and quotes medical journals along with her homeopathic training. She made me feel immediately at ease due to her competence and her outgoing, friendly nature. She is not meek, and will definitely take charge when need be but she is an advocate of the mama and makes sure the mama feels good and is good as much as she can. Her office is in a beautiful and tranquil location which makes you feel as though you are on a retreat every time you visit!

She remembers people, listens, and is kind. I am looking forward to having her as my midwife!

PROS: wow too many for this tiny box :P
CONS: her office is osmewhat far from home for me

I had an amazing at home VBAC 1 year ago today. She is so wonderful and caring. She is very professional and will help you achieve the birth you want while being able to handle any risks that might possibly arrive. I hope that Kelli will be able to deliver all the rest of my future children.

PROS: Safe & wonderful births

I gave birth at home and used A Mothers Nature Midwifery Care and had an absolutely positive experience! The midwife, Kelli is kind, gentle and very nurturing! She was thorough in her care and assesments and always able to offer a natural way to help resolve the typical complaints an expectant mother has during pregnancy and more importantly -delivery of her baby. Had I been in the hospital I would certainly would up having a C-section as my baby presented in a less common way but the midwife was able to help coach me and relax and allowed my baby to be delivered safely and without intervention! I cannot recommend this midwife highly enough! Thank you-Kelli!
