Beware of this business. They changed the oil in my car and didn't replace the valve cap when the job was completed. I didn't discover this until a week later, when I opened the hood to check my fluid levels. I gave them another chance and later brought in another car for repairs. Before I left the shop, I raised the hood. I couldn't believe that parts of the engine cover was missing. The mechanic failed to replace all of the engine parts. When I showed this to the alleged OWNER, he acted like the car must have been delivered to the shop in that condition. After a brief argument, he spoke to his mechanic and located the rest of my engine parts in the rear of his shop. OWNER explained that anyone could have a bad day. His attitude really sucked!!! He didn't appear to care about my vehicle or concern.

Hello. I've been going to them for 10 years now. I always recommended them 2 every1. Last month I went there for a/c work. They told me my fan assembly needed replaced bc it wasnt turning on. So i told them it was to much for me now. Went to autozone and they told me to start it up and the fan worked perfectly fine. It only needed freon. I was upset to b honest w Riverview Tire. So a month later I figured I would give them another shot when my master cylinder needed replaced. I called them 4 a price if I brought part. They said $400 bc of 3 hrs labor. So I went to autozone again. They said I could do it in a hour if I watched YouTube on the mechanics. Did I? I sure did. No more Riverview tire for me.

Been using John for 17 years. The only mechanic out there who doesn't rip you off, gives you options and works with you if need be.Always stops what they are doing to get you in and help get you back on the road, no BS and tells it like it is.

When I read some of the negative comments I must believe these people are not truly customers and just bashing for competitive reasons. Take one look at how busy they are all the time and that speaks for itself..

After dealing with Riverview Tire & Auto for 5 years, I thought I could trust them. How wrong was I?
I was having car trouble so I took my car to Riverview Tire & Auto. They looked at my car and said the problem was the timing belt. I found it odd that I needed a new timing belt because they had already replaced my timing belt in March of 2008, and they would not normally need to be replaced so soon. At any rate, they put on a new timing belt (which I gave them the okay to do) and the car still would not run. They then removed the head cover, which they should have done the first time they replaced my timing belt, to see that the head gasket had a hole in it. When the timing belt broke in 2008, it actually cracked my valves, but because they did not check the valves to see if they needed replaced at that time, the friction caused my head gasket to get the hole. Had I found out at that time that the valves were cracked, it would have saved me time and money and also saved me from needing a new engine.

They called me in 2 weeks ago to look at my engine (like I have any idea what I'm looking at) to tell me that I need a whole new engine and that it would cost me $2500! I told the manger that I would get an engine elsewhere and they could put it in for me. He quoted me $790.00 for the labor. I gave him a verbal okay for the labor of putting the new engine in for me.

I got the engine, called Riverview tire and informed them that it was on the way. The newer engine has 60,000 miles and everything was included on it. I had another mechanic check out the engine prior to delivery to make sure the engine was good so that all Riverview Tire & Auto had to do was drop it into my car. Just to be sure, I asked the manger if by chance, the new engine needed a timing belt, how much would it cost. He quoted me $300. I told him that was too much to but a timing belt on an engine that is outside of the car. His reply was, ??I will call you when I get the engine and let you know what, if anything needs to be done.? My response was, ??Okay, I will wait for your call.?

Four days go by and I get a call saying my car is ready. I go in today to pay for my car and he tells me that it's going to be $1200.00 + taxes! He said they had to put a new water pump on, new spark plugs, a new timing belt and a whole list of other things that I never gave him the permission to do. I expressed my dissatisfaction with this and his reply was, ??One, I thought you knew we would be doing this work. Two, I have already given you free labor on the first timing belt that we put on. And finally, I can knock off $200.00 because I didn't call you to inform you of the work that was being done.? I let him know had he called me prior to doing the work I would have told him not to do it because I would have taken my car elsewhere at that point. He took it upon himself to do knowingly do unauthorized work and now he wanted to charge me for it. I??m not asking him to work for free; I just want to pay him what he said it would be. I don't have a problem paying him the$ 790 he quoted.

I called Action News, they told the reporter they had an estimate of 1294.00 with my signature (the signature was from the BLANK paper they have you sign when you drop your car off, but I can't prove it since I didn't get a copy of the blank paper, but they KNOW good and well I didn't sign an estimate at ALL), but would accept 790.00. When I got there, they told me that they "don't remember talking to the reporter" and made me pay 1094.00 to get my car back (they knocked off 200.00). I will be filing a lawsuit.

I called and talk to a very nice gentalman who seem to be very understanding about my call. He was not trying to rush me off the phone or because I was a lady. He was really nice to me.

I've been to Riverside Auto 4 times. One was the shop on 301 and the other the new shop on Bloomingdale. I have been more than satisfied with the service. I agree with the posters that they appear honest and don't recommend work that does not need to be done. As I was getting my car worked on, I heard them tell two different customers things that the shop could of ripped them off, if they had not been so honest. I'm completely happy with them and will continue to use and refer them to my friends. It's hard enough to find a good mechanic shop must less one that is honest The two major visits were for 1) car cranking and not starting, 2) front end alignment. They fix the not diagnoised and fix the no starting problem within 30 minutes after spending countless dollars at pepboys with no avail. The front end alignment price was fair, they said I had a bad tie rod which I suspected. Again, I have no complaints what so ever. The head mechnic keeps an eye on what is going on.

I've been using Riverview Tire for the past four years for my vehicles and for my (grown) children's vehicles. ALWAYS fair pricing and outstanding service. It's always easy for another shop to criticize the workmanship of the last mechanic. If you knew who was right, you wouldn't need that second opinion. And, by criticizing the previous mechanic, the "second opinion provider" is in a great position to "steal" away your business. (Let's face it, you want to hear that you were ripped off to reinforce your suspicion.) It's unfortunate that there are so many charlatans in the auto repair business. It is comforting to know that Riverview Tire is a home-grown business that I can trust!

Don't let them touch your car: I brought my car in for an alignment. During the initial estimate told me they needed to replace two of the tires, which I heard from the dealer as well. When it came time to order they said it required only these special tires, only the one brand at $150 a pop. I was suspicious, but said to go ahead.

Then, after I brought it in, they called me later in the day and said I needed to replace all four tires, it'd be another $300. I refused and told them to replace only the original two they said needed replacement.

I get the car back and the first time I roll down the window, it falls out of it's track. I call them up and they refuse to even talk about it. They said it happens all the time, tried to blame me for rolling down the window wrong (it's an automatic.) I was nice at first, but they started calling me a liar. Brought in arguments about the review mirror, whatever that had to do with anything.

They seem real honest up front, but don't let them take your car or you'll have to find yourself a real mechanic.

I recently moved to the area (2YRS)and in my initial meeting with the owner of Riverview Tire and auto, I explained to him that I neither wanted nor cared for politicians when it came to auto repair. I wasn't looking for someone that I could not trust my car repair to. I seek out only one and they do any repairs I need done. I explained to him that I had left many repair shops due to unfair practices. He told me that he was neither a unfair businessman nor a politician and once you received a quote from him it was that. Well to make a long story short, coming in I took my car to two places getting an estimate for the service to be rendered before I proceeded to get it fixed and he was good to his word. I thought I would be a life long customer. Recently, my air conditioner needed repairing and I took my car in and received not one but two quotes from the establishment and told them to proceed with the repair. The next day, I received a call from the shop stating that I was given the wrong quote not once but twice, and they could not nor would not honor it. I explained to the owner being in business myself that once myself or any of my staff gave a quote whether wrong or right that was it. He explained to me that the guy that gave the quote was a technician and not one of his usual office managers. He made a mistake. Why would you as an owner or manager let an inexperienced person give out quotes knowing that his mistakes could cost you business? Do you not care as an owner how that could effect your patrons? To me that is a cop out excuse. He stated that the quote given was only for the labor and the extra 240.00 was now for the part. Never saying since you were quoted the wrong price twice why don't I eat half and you pay half for the mistake. I would have lived with that, but since all he could do was offer excuses for his lack of office staff and say a half hearted I'm sorry, I would rather pay someone more than deal with a person with little to no business ethics.

I had some repair work done here and was told it was going to cost over $1500. I paid for it and had the work done and the car still didn't run. Took it to another mechanic and was told that the work I had paid for hadn't been done completely or right and that I had paid that $1500 for nothing. I could have had a whole new engine for that much money. Plus, they had my car for like a week!

I stopped there for tire replacement at recommendation of a friend and picked up two tires on the cheap ($100 installed OTD). I later went back for a check engine light w/ rough idle, almost to the point of stalling while at idle ... and my car was out of warranty. They advised it was the EGR valve stuck open, but it wasn't, and cleared the code. I didn't even get out of the parking lot and the check engine light was back on. They cleared it again and told me to come back the next day. The next day they said it was my fuel pump and needed replacement ... for the tune of $600 bucks. I agreed and it was replaced. This did nothing to fix the check engine light or the rough idle, I felt like I was ripped off for sure. I went to discount auto to buy a new EGR valve to replace it myself. They told me just to clean the EGR valve, which I did and it worked fine for a month or two before I had to clean it again. They also told me that my fuel pump probably didn't need replacing since the car was only a few years old with 75k miles. So I'm almost positive they ripped me off, seeing how they didn't fix the problem. I would use them again for tires or something basic, but not for anything such as check engine codes!!

PROS: cheap tires, quick service
CONS: repaired things not needing repair, failed to find problem

I have been dealing with this shop for years. They are the only shop I have ever dealt with that is not out to get your money and screw you over. They are very honest and get the job done right the first time. There prices are the most reasonable I have seen around town. I would highly recommend this tire shop to anyone. They always seem to get my tires at least $50.00 cheaper than anyone else.

This place is very honest and not out to take your money. They only do repairs that really need to be done. They don't tell you that you need something replaced when you don't. They work with many extended service contract companies and are very comparable with their labor rates. I found that on some repair work they are lower than most.

This auto repair shop is the most honest shop I have ever done business with. Their labor costs are pretty much the same per hour as all of the other guys but they don't charge you for a hundred hours of work and all of those nickel and dime charges. They don't do work that is not necessary. I had an occasional a.m. squeaky brake on my care (that was 5 months old) and I took it to them and asked them to change the brakes. They took a look and told me they didn't need changed but I said I wanted them changed anyway. The gentlemant told me not to waste his time doing work that wasn't necessary because he had cars that really needed fixed. Normally I would be insulted but I was taken back with his honestly and now I refer everyone there. They are great.

They change tires and do most any repairs. They are very busy and sometimes it take a little time to get the work done but well worth the trip.I have had them repair and replace my truck tires and turn drums for me.You do not need an appointment they fit you in.They do good work and the prices are fair. I went to them because they always seemed to be busy and I pass them everyday.I was glad I went. This is a good place to take your auto for repairs.

PROS: good prices and excellent work
CONS: very busy and have to wait

We were recommended by a friend to this shop. They were very helpful and honest and that is important to us. We orginally thought we needed the brakes replaced. They were very honest in telling us that our brake pads were still fine. Tthey could have easily taken advantage of us and acted like they did need done. They gave us no hard time about getting our extended warranty company to pay for the covered work. On the downside they were very busy and it took a few days to get our truck back. When we did get our truck back the steering wheel and floor were greasy. There was also a dent in the door that was not there before. Overall, I recommend them. The owner is honest and not too busy to take a phone call or get his hands dirty.
