My R/L experience at Michael Angelo Hair Studio on Bay to Bay Blvd. Tampa

A couple of months back. My son's friend did my hair. I wanted to go natural, or start to fade my color out. Although she is a professional stylist and works in a well know salon here in Tampa. She apparently isn't as good a colorist -- but she is a lovely young woman and I like her. She stripped the color out and although I know it didn't look great and maybe even terrible. I wasn't upset. I figured hair grows out and with all the really important things in life this is not such a big deal. So I let my hair grow out for a couple months and used a toner.

This week I decided that it was long enough to enable me to cut a lot of the damage out and I really need to have it fixed. So I scheduled an appointment with Michael Angelo Hair Studio on Bay to Bay Blvd Tampa.

Upon my arrival the receptionist handed me a form and asked me to fill it out. It contained the usual information name, address, email, etc. -- but it also had a bunch of marketing related questions that I felt were a little on the personal side, like age, products used, etc. So I handed it back and said "I hope you don't mind. I didn't fill it out completely. The list is a little over the top." She responded with "Oh not a problem and asked me to take a seat." After a few minutes she came over and said "I'm going to take you on a tour of our facility and then to a private consultation room". I asked her if it was okay to skip the tour and just to let me go to the consultations room, and she complied.

After a few minutes the door open and the OWNER came into the room. As he entered and started to introduce himself - I stood up to shake his hand and we greeted each other. He asked me what brought me to his salon. I explained what I was hoping to achieve and how my hair had gotten into this situation. Still with no idea that there was a problem He replied with "Well I don't just take anyone into my salon. I'm very selective about my customers!" Now I'm really confused as I had a confirmed appointment for a cut and color and not with him but another stylist. And I had explained over the phone the problem with my hair. At this point, I'm really not following him, but I'm starting to realize that there is a problem -- I just don't know what it is. And then he says "I like my customers to fill out the forms and to take the facility tour." So I replied with "Oh I am sorry, I didn't mean to be rude", but before I could finish. It got really wired and kind of scary and I'm not kidding about this next part. He says "Well you are rude and that's why you look the way you do. Have you seen yourself? I mean really, have you seen yourself?" We are in this really small room and this guy is getting LOUD, mean, and nasty -- and it's totally out in left field. There was more overtly dramatic behavior even going so far as to infer I was attempting to touch him, but I can't repeat it because I wasn't listening to him anymore. I got my things and left pretty quickly.

Needless to say, I was really confused as to why this person would decide to verbally attack me, someone he doesn't know and a potential customer, but then it hit me. I had nothing to do with me. He is either, a narcissist believing that everything that everyone does is about him, or directed at him, or the worse business man I've ever seen, or not talented enough to know how to fix my hair, or maybe just a nut -- and of course all and any combinations, are possibilities too.

And although as a paying customer I shouldn't have to explain, just to set the record straight. I didn't want the tour because I just had bypass surgery of my lilac artery and didn't want to explain that to STRANGERS. But thanks for telling me how crappy I looked right after surgery. It was a blast. So glad I came in.

In the end he did me a big favor. Right after leaving I went to Mikkel's on Mac Dill Ave and they did a terrific job. Not only a good, solid cut and color, but they were friendly, pleasant and treated me with the respect that any customer deserves, with much lower prices.

Oh and they didn't freak out when I declined their tour.

I have been going to Micheal for years. I am such a fan that even though I moved to North Carolina, I still go to Micheal. Over the years I have been every shade of red, had long ahir, short hair. But the one thing that has remained

I do not know who these great reviews are. This was one of my worst disappointments at a hair salon and I have had some horrendous experiences. I asked for BLONDE I even showed the girl a photograph and she acted all bubble like "oh yeah

After searching the internet for reviews on a top rated South Tampa hair salon, I settled on Michael Angelo. I had my appointment today, which was the first time I had ever put any type of investment into my hair care, and couldn't be

Since going to Michael's I hear this compliment daily! If you want to get people to notice your hair then you have found the place. I have tried alot of salons and have never had anyone achieve such a perfect color and leave with hair

My whole family has been going to Michael Angelo for over 7 years now. It is not only the best hair salon in the Tampa Bay area because of their state of art hair products, but most of all customer service. I have never been in a cleaner, upscale salon that is always on the cutting edge of trends. From hair styles to their very own product line. They just launched their new hair product line and it is wonderful! It is so exciting to have a upscale hair salon in the area. Most of all their staff is always so gracious! Thank You!

I came to Michael about 10 years ago, I have to tell you my hair was badly damaged. I've always taken good care of my hair, but this one time I ended up at a salon that really damaged my hair & I'm thinking my hair is not growing anymore......well after speaking to Michael, he confirmed my hair was badly damaged & we went from their, I love my hair it's in the best condition ever & down to my waist. Michael is a color expert, he's even matched my color to my original color growing up, it's amazing. They are very professional, very warm setting when you walk thru the door & thru the whole time till you walk out. I also want to mention that they have their own selection of products, great in quality & price. I would definitely run their if I were you. You won't have a better experience with your hair! Thank s Michael your the best!

I have been a client at Michael Angelo's studio for approximately 1 year and during every visit, continue to be extremely pleased with the overall experience. First and foremost, the staff is very knowledgeable in hair trends, treatment, and coloring. During each visit, they encourage an exchange of dialogue to determine "where you are" from your hair need's perspective. As evidence of their robust hair knowledge, they have developed their own hair care line, which offers a diverse selection of products that are both reasonably priced and excellent in quality.

As a secondary pleasantry, they are extremely accommodating in making your experience like no other, by providing tantalizing treats.

I would highly recommend a visit to Michael Angelo's studio.

Since becoming a faithful customer of Michael Angelo's more than two years ago, my hair is more flattering, healthier and easier to style than it has ever been. People constantly comment on the color, the overall appearance and how well the look, style and shade suits me. Michael always takes the time to talk to me about what I want to do or how I want to look. I have absolute confidence in his opinion but really appreciate that he takes the time to listen. This salon really a sort of a sanctuary. Everyone, from the staff to the clients, is pleasant and friendly. There is always something to drink, eat, read or some peaceful, quiet place simply to unwind and relax while the transformation takes place. Now that they have added their own signature line of Michael Angelo salon products, I know I can easily stock up on whatever I need while I am there. This salon really does it exactly right - on every level.

Pros: Parking, central location, accommodating when making or changing appointments

Cons: There is only one Michael Angelo so book your next appointment before leaving

From the time I drove up to the ??Mini Mall? I was not very impressed but my friend highly recommended Michael Angelo Hair Studio to me so I continued in. I saw a salon that was decorated straight out of the 1980??s. Michael??s staff was nice but seemed stressed for some reason. Michael himself seemed nice to me and the other client but continued to put down his assistant and continued to yell at her when they were in the other room. I felt like I was put in the middle of everything when he came back in the room and did nothing but complain about how hard it is to find good help. I felt so bad for his assistant, she seemed very nice and pleasent. When it came time to pay, good god I got the bill. He charges for everything separate, though my hair looked nice it was not worth the price. Then on top of everything they didn??t take Credit Cards. They sent me across the street to a mini mart. I thought I was in some third world country and was worried about getting mugged. Who in their right mind would ever send their client out into what seemed to be the hood to get $400 out of an ATM because they don??t take Credit Cards? So if you want to go to a sub-standard salon out of the 80??s in the middle of the hood to hear someone yell at their help? Please don??t make the same mistake I did? take your own cash!!

Michael Angelo is someone who truly cares about his clients, listens to what they say about their look and lifestyle and who has such talent that he can create absolute magic and miracles. I have always had to use tons of product and fight to make my hair have any look, life or movement to it. But for the past two years, since trusting Michael to really coax my hair into a more cooperative cut and enhance my color to make it more flattering, my hair is stays shiny, healthy and really works for me.

The salon is stunning and really well maintained, everyone there is warm and friendly and the whole experience is such a pleasure that I look forward to each visit and how great I will feel and look when I leave there.
