I have been a patron of La Vie en Rose for many years. What keeps me coming back is the exquisite food, good service and very pleasant ambience. My favorite entree is the perfectly roasted duckling in raspberry sauce and it is usually accompanied with Dauphinoise Potatoes. The salads and first courses are varied and tasty. But, the desserts leave you with the desire to return soon for another sampling! They have a competitive wine list and full bar. I enjoy entertaining guests at La Vie en Rose and no one has ever had anything but praise for this establishment. I make it a practice to celebrate my birthday each year with a large group of friends and relatives. Last year's fete, on Christmas Eve (my actual birthday) was a special treat being my big 60. The management made me and my guests feel very special. The prices are very reasonable for such high quality. This is a winner in rather modest community.

Pros: Great food, exceptional desserts, and lovely country French setting. Large portions of perfectly prepared food at a reasonable price.

Cons: Sometimes the service can be lacking, but the food and presentation more than make up for it.

WE STUMBLED ON THIS EXTRAORDINARY PLACE AFTER VISITING THE HOSPITAL ACROSS THE STREET. A BEAUTIFUL SURPRISE... ATMOSPHERE LIKE A COUNTRY FRENCH INN WITH FLOWERS AND LACE. A SMILING WAITRESS TOOK OUR ORDER DIRECTLY AFTER BEING SEATED. SHE WAS MOST HELPFUL. THERE WAS ROMANTIC GUITAR MUSIC WAFTING THROUGH THE PLACE AS WE ENJOYED OUR DINNER FOR 2 WITH A BOTTLE OF WINE. THE FOOD FAR=EXCEEDED ANY OTHER RESTAURANT'S WE HAD BEEN TO IN THE AREA. WE COULDN'T BELIEVE HOW LOW OUR BILL WAS.. I HAD SHRIMP SCAMPI IN A SOFT PUFF PASTRY WITH THIS UNBELIEVABLE SCAMPI SAUCE. MY SALMON WAS DONE TO PERFECTION WITH A LITE BUERRE BLANC AND MY MAN'S STEAK WAS SO TENDER YOU COULD CUT IT WITH A FORK. DESSERT WAS SCRUMPTOUS. THOROUGHLY ENJOYED EVERYTHING. WE'LL BE BACK AGAIN AND AGAIN.

Pros: FOOD, AMBIANCE, SERVICE AND PRICE

Cons: NONE ON OUR FIRST VISIT.

We've been to La Vie En Rose several times in the past without trouble, but last night was horrible. We sat at our table over 20 minutes waiting for our server. Finally a woman arrived and said our server was busy but she would be back soon. We waited 5 more minutes and then left. We tried to talk to the mgr but the hostess would not get him/her and only said she could change our seat to a different waiter! Unbelievable!!
Before being seated we had a drink at the bar. The bartender used her shirt to wipe clean my wine glass (like you would clean your sunglasses) and my husband's beer had white floaters in it. We didn't complain about either of these things, but looking back we probably should have. Someone is going to get very sick from their unsanitary practices.
Definitely save your money and health and go eat somewhere else. It has gone terribly downhill compared to the past.

...and I am used to dining in NYC so I am a tough customer! The decor is charming and cozy, complete with a fireplace. At the same time, it's definitely busy, even mid-week, so I would say it's a good place for a first date.
The food was excellent and the menu was extensive--there were crepes, along with salads, duck, fish, and seafood-based dishes. I had duck with apricot sauce and sliced apples and pears over sweet potatoes and it was unbelievable. The service was polite and attentive. I was only dumbfounded (and disappointed) by the fact that this French restaurant did not have souffle on the dessert menu! Other than that, it was a really enjoyable experience.
