Now known as Salon Sassin at Westshore mall. Worst service and ethics I have ever encountered anywhere hands down. I read the review previously and it made me think give the salon a shot. Numerous better business bureau complaints and by far not a good place to go. It looks low end and they try to charge high end prices. My service lasted from 10am and ended at 6 pm due to lack of staff. This was a scheduled appointment - no excuse. My hair was chopped off and turned orange and he had the nerve to charge $947 dollars. Huge rip off and huge mistake on my part. Believe what you read
If you prefer a better experience try somewhere else. Btw when I complained they did nothing but Omar said "I am worth it" wow he needs a reality check!!!!

After reading the reviews I came to the conclusion that Mr. has an X-wife who is bent on destroying him. Soooooo ..... I made an appointment with him and guess what he does have an X. Well, the color and cut I received was BEAUTIFUL!! I have grey hair and believe me when I say his color does not wash out. The cut was perfect and I will RETURN . Thank you Omar!

This was the longest I have had to wait to get a hair cut. The guy acted like I was a problem for him not a customer. But after hearing how good he was I waited 3 hours. After leaving the salon I checked my statement he charged me 400 bucks for a so so hair cut. The color washed out in 10 days I guess that is their version of high lights. I would not have this guy groom my dog.

NancyG13 you are 100% correct. He is the poorest excuse of a real man and father that I've ever heard of. All the money he gouges his customers for is certainly not used for child support. His ex works her butt off to support her 3 children and is a wonderful person and mother. This is how he thanks her for giving him those beautiful children. There's a special place in H#@! waiting for irresponsible, abusive men like this.

I came in and asked for a specific cut and color tone.
He acted like I was a moron and did what he wanted to do and it nothing like what I wanted.

I ended up talking about my bad experience with some friends later that day and two of them told me that he has never paid a dime in child support for his 3 kids in 5 years. He gets arrested all the time for non payment, but refuses to comply. Not the kind of person I want to give my hard earned money to.

Pros: None

Cons: Does not care what you want & is not a good person

Came here recently because my co-worker referred me. Everything seemed great at first, pleasant receptionist and a visiting stylist from another salon sat and chatted with me while I was waiting for my appointment to start. I was at first a little dismayed by the fact that the waiting area was so small and seemed almost like a doctor's office, but I was hoping the results of my hair would overshadow that.

So when Omar finally made time to see me, he was very friendly and cordial at first and I thought I was really in for something special! Then I saw him interacting with his other customers and started to worry if maybe he was like an abusive relationship, you know? Nice at the beginning to reel you in, and then an a$$hole once he has you caught. I very specifically came in for JUST color. But before I knew it, I'm getting a haircut. Honestly, I don't know that I ever even agreed to one but suddenly he's chopping my long hair into tons of layers!!

My panic was clear and his totally flippant and rude response was "its the hair left on your head that matters." Once the traumatic cut was finished he didn't really even allow me to see it, and instead went straight to highlighting my hair, putting in a lot more foils than i'd expected. by this time i was afraid my hair would turn out white-blonde which i specifically did not ask for, and also i can plainly see that he is RUDE. Rude to his customers, booking several at a time and acting as if our time isnt nearly as important as his, and rude to his employees.

after my highlights he made his assistant apply color on my hair, never telling her what to do or when to do until the last minute so he could have complete control and make it clear that he is in charge. she was very friendly and obviously cared a lot more about my hair and about all the other people but she seriously acted like she lived in fear of her boss. why he manages to have a nice receptionist, assistant and shampoo woman i have no idea. he must pay well, because he's a CREEP

once my color was washed out, omar came over to the shampoo bowl and told me how beautiful it looked, but once it was dry my hair was completely PLATINUM. i had a platinum mullet and i felt horrible asking it, but i had to make all those people stay late because there was no wayi could be seen in public with hair like that

finally he "fixed" t and by that time it was after 10pm. i was exhausted and just wanted to go home, mind you my appointment started at 3:30. and honestly the hair is still not good, and i've even gone back into fix it and i still feel cheated. all his services are ala carte which is something i have not experienced since i went to fantastic sam's when i was 12. all in all over $300 so that i can cry over how bad my hair looks

terrible place, please do not go here.

Pros: nice assistants, plenty of parking

Cons: everything else, esp. omar's ATTITUDE

First, the salon is completely overpriced. I would have no problem paying close to $400 for a cut and color (on my short to short-medium length hair) if it was worth the money. However -- it's not. He chopped off my hair even though I told him I wanted it to grow out. I wanted to grow out my long layers so I could get an asymetrical bob -- and I told him this explicitly. Instead he cut my hair in two layers -- instead of being sexy-sheek, I looked like a soccer mom. He pushes products on you -- he tells you what he's using, then he has one of the girls he works with come up and ask him in front of you "what kind of products are you using today" -- even if you tell him that you don't want any, or if you still have some from the last time you were in, his employees will have already brought the products up to the counter for you. He tries to sell you $200+ blowdryers and curling irons -- and even after you tell him "no" - the sell continues at the front desk. Then they treat you awful when you decline them politely.

The entire experience is very disappointing. The man is not friendly, does not listen and really has no people skills. Be prepared to spend at least 4 hours in the salon when you go -- he will quadrudple book people and work you in shifts. It is completely unpleasant --

Don't get me wrong, if I walked out of there with a fantastic haircut and color I could overlook all of the other downfalls -- but trust me, you get the equivalent of a $80 cut and color and you get treated like a second class citizen. Believe the reviews below -- the salon will nickel and dime you (try $15 for him to run a straight iron through my short hair, not including the $25 blowdry) and you will waste a better part of a day.

Pros: Good location

Cons: Over priced, not customer friendly, rude

Omar has been cutting and coloring my hair since 1989. I am constantly complimented on the cut and many hair stylists have stopped me to ask who cuts my hair. Without reservation, Omar is the best in Tampa and one of the best anywhere. I have read a couple of earlier reviews and I must question whether they were written by jealous competitors who are trying to slander his reputation. You will not find a better technical stylist and his designs and techniques are on par with the best salons anywhere.

Pros: Extremely high level of service

.

Omar is a great hair artist. He is a little expensive ($83 for a designer haircut), but he is worth it if you care about style. You can pay less if you want to go to Fantastic Sam's-but, you will get what you pay for. Omar has won international awards for his work and he has trained many of the best stylists in Tampa over the past 20 years. He is highly recommended.

If style matters, choose Omar. It's that simple. I would recommend him to anyone. Everyone who I have sent to him says that their cut and color were outstanding.

DO NOT TRUST THIS MAN!! His license needs to be revoked. This man has no concern for you. You cannot be adamant enough about how you want your haircut. He is going to HACK it off into VERY Short shaggy boy looking hair. I'm convinced after reading the other horror stories about this mans hair-cutting technique, that it is the only style his stubborn ego will allow him to attempt. His arrogance cannot be overcome. He completely disregarded my explicit instructions, for long middle of the neck length layers. My hair, well what?s left of it after his atrocious $108 hair cut is now above my jaw line in short 2 inch layers everywhere.

I told him" I don't want a razor anywhere near my hair; it has never turned out well for me, So I don't want you to use one on matter what." When he got to cutting most all of my hair off he said,? Oh and that statement you made about using a razor is c&@p." And Yep, you guessed it, he used a razor my hair. It turned out horrible was so in shock I couldn?t speak!!

I walked into the salon fully prepared with a wig to show him exactly what I wanted (The wig had less hair than me when I walked in). I showed him the long layers and said "This is exactly what I want; is this doable?" He said, "Ya of course anything is doable, with the right product? In addition to telling him exactly what I wanted I told him what I did not want. I pointed to one of his employees and said "I don't want my hair short like hers. It is not flattering at all on me and it makes me feel like I boy. Omar I can't handle short hair like that. I've been there before and it made for a hard time in my life because of it." He didn't care.

Omar wasn't listing from the moment his grumpy a_ _ sat down next to mine. Just being in the salon was disconcerting; the way he talks to and treats his customers as well as employees with such disrespect is vexing. Just read the many other bad reviews before you don't call !!

Pros: I got an ear infection after the water ran into my ear canal during the shampoo.

Cons: There is not enough room to list them. Just don't go to Omar!

I do not recommend Omar Sassin Salon, it is slow and way overpriced. I had a cut and color with Omar not too long ago on a Tuesday, and I thought I would get out in two or three hours tops. I got there at around 10:30 am and didn't leave until 4 pm! My price tag was about $400. His cut and color style aren't bad, but not for the price I paid. I am looking for another hair salon.

I just was a hair model for Omar Sassin, himself, at an upscale salon in Boca Raton. After how Omar butchered my hair I don't even want to look in the mirror and I am totally devastated! I started out with beautiful, straight red hair, below my breasts. I was asked to be a hair model by the salon manager who assured me they wanted to cut long layers, just what I wanted. I ended up with an assymetrical shag/mullet that is 2-3 inches long on one side of my head!!! He cut more than 75% of the hair off of my head after inflating my ego and telling me how beautiful my hair was. Furthermore, He did not mention that he was going to make me look like a freak!! I feel completely taken advantage of, and extremely depressed. Anyone reading this..please spend your money elsewhere. This man's liscense should be revoked. I wonder if he will have sleepless nights and suffer anxiety over how he mutilated my hair. Omar--Shame on you!!!

I AM SOOO DISAPPOINTED WITH OMAR'S CUT!@!@!@. I really wanted a good cut and had heard hat Omar Sassin was great. I was surprised to learn that a cut/blow dry would be $108, but decided a great cut was worth it! Prior to the cut, I told him that I did not want short hair and because my hair is fine and thin, I needed a blunt cut. I agreed to a bob with hair in the back a bit shorter, but I was clear that I didn't want it noticeably shorter than the front. He cut approximately 4 inches off the back, leaving the lower half of the back of my head with hair that's about 1/2" long, and worse still is the fact that it doesn't even blend into the length of hair above it. I've had the cut for a week and can't figure out how to manage it, I'm embarrassed to go out in public. I've considered taking him to small claims court because he did not give me the cut I requested. Also, each employee from the shampoo girl, to Omar, to the cashier was pushing their expensive salon products and they practically won't take NO for an answer!! I AM SOOO DISAPPOINTED WITH OMAR'S CUT!@!@!@

Cons: Omar's cut is awful, he did not follow my explicit instructions, every employee pushes the customer hard to sell products.

The first time I went to the salon I had a pretty bad cut from another hair dresser. Omar did fix it completely but by the time I left (and bought 2 products not knowing the price) I spent over $400!! As the other review says, it's best to ask how much everything costs or they'll nickle and dime you. They sneak in charges, even if you ask to not have them, like long hair drying $60!! I always thought a hair dry would be part of an $80 dollar hair cut. Omar is very talented however, he is the only stylist in the salon so a basic cut can take 4 hours and I've spend over 6 for the more complicated do's. Not really worth the wait and price unless for a special occasion. I also felt a little taken advantage of.

I had my haircut and colored by Omar Sassin at his salon in Tampa. My total service time was approaching 7 hours ... so if you decide to give it a shot .. block away the whole day in your planner. I have average length hair that is on the thicker side and got a color / highlight / and haircut. When I checked out my total was $565.00!!!!! I was completey shocked and felt taken advantage of! I have been to high dollar salons in NYC, Boston, etc and never have I paid this much for a hair service!!! Before you sit in the chair ... make sure you get a detailed explanation of the charges! Everything is a la cart down to the product, shampoo, etc. BEWARE BEWARE! The haircut and color was outstanding ... but had the same results for far less debt!

I was very satisfied after getting my hair done at this salon. The stylist was very talented and professional. I told her what I wanted and she did exactly that. The salon is clean and offers a nice selection of hair products. The prices are on the moderate to high side but well worth it!
