I had the shrimp and filet mignon. The food is decent, but for the price I would probably prefer going somewhere else. However the atmoshphere and cooking show may make up for it.

For the first time in the nearly 37 years that I have been dining in Japanese steakhouses, I can honestly say that I have never been more disappointed with the experience. After a long day at work, we were looking forward to a relaxing birthday celebration. Upon arrival I told the Host that we would like to sit at the bar and have drinks prior to dinner, we were not in a hurry. I guess that was translated into not quite 1 drink, because the hostess told me she was ready to seat us prior to our finishing our cocktail order. I explained that we would like to order another drink and sit outside; she was clearly distressed, evidenced by the expression on her face. I walked outside and told the rest of our party that we needed to be seated (rather than relax and socialize). When we were seated, it was quite apparent the other two parties at the table were angry. I have no idea how long they had been waiting, as there were only two people seated in the lobby when we arrived at the restaurant. The cloths were presented, and our drink orders taken promptly. The soup and salad were served almost immediately, but we were not served our beverages until after those two courses were completed. I had ordered a Vodka Tonic that did not taste at all like the one I had when I arrived at the restaurant. When I discreetly pointed this out to my server, he told me it was due to the fact that the vodka was the ??house? brand (the same I had previously). He told me this twice, and I twice said thank you, but I would prefer tea instead. The meal was also disappointing. Our chef seemed to be merely going through the motions. The soup was watery, the small salad bowls were half full with lettuce covered in a very bland dressing (not the great ginger dressing we had become accustomed to). The toasted sesame seeds used in past meals were also quite noticeably absent. My filet was well done, even though I had ordered it prepared medium. Throughout the meal, one of the couples at the table made rude comments about our party. This was our birthday celebration and none of my party would have dared to respond to these crass individuals. The situation with the other party could have been avoided completely had we not been herded in like cattle, and the folks waiting (apparently too long) served without our presence at their table. I can only assume it was the restaurant??s management trying to cram as many people into one table to keep costs down and increase profit in as short a time as humanly possible. In the future, I will not consider Kobe a place for celebration. I will relate this experience to my friends, family, and clients in an effort to help them avoid having their special occasions ruined.

We have eaten here one time and really enjoyed the experience. The food was good but not as good as I had heard people raving. I felt as though we were rushed. We sat at a group table and some of the other people left before we did, so the waiters cleared there spaces and put out new glasses and silverware while we were still eating dessert. My child loved the chefs "magic". A fun place, but I'd only go back for a treat.
