The so-called Banned Book Store came about in the late 80's as a reaction to State Attorney John Tanners anti-porn activism. The owners of Banned Books attempted a mutation in which they could sell porn, while operating under the aegis of radical and extremist political book titles. So, they purchased about one copy each, of several books from publishers such as Paladin Press, wrapped them in plastic, set em out on a rack, and charged hundreds of dollars for what was a $20 book. The goal you see was not to sell THESE books, but establish a pre-text to exist as a store. Quite an ingenious business strategy really.
Thus, whatever they might sell today, as regards porn, I dont know about...that is there business and the business of whatever State agencies that regulate such matters.
But, as a reviewer, I can tell you, that the store does not effectively function as a source for rare, unusual, or extremist political tomes, which a person might be seeking for academic or ideological purposes. If you want such material, you wont find it at the Banned Book Store, whose owners are not, as far as I can tell, concerned with free speech as something fundamental, but only reacting to how current local events affect their profit margin.
