My wife walked to Rod and Reel almost every morning for breakfast, because we love the home fries, and omlettes. A pretty sweet friendly diner style restaurant.

Ratings_icons Best place in town

Jose A. | insider Insider | Rank: 18,311

Authentic, reasonable and very nice people. Best spot in town. Take the fish of the day and share it for 2. Then order a key lime pie as dessert and some drafts. Wonderful! Maybe you can see dolphines and manatees near the pier.

Ratings_icons Great Lunch Spot

BJ T.

Old Florida Charm, great waitresses with excellent service. The blackened grouper sandwich with cole slaw is my favorite. If the deck is full, it's worth the wait for a table. The key lime pie is pretty good too. Cost is moderate.

Ratings_icons Forget Breakfast

Turned away twice slightly before 11am (even on Sundays) because they "stop serving at 11am". They really mean they stop seating sometime before 11am (your guess). Made it once in time and not that great. Very arrogant place.

Ratings_icons little cost, BIG tip!

Came from the north, found the rod and reel pier on anna maria island. GREAT! Great food, low prices, the best service. While there in the quaint bar downstairs, very funny good looking bartender. He played great music and stayed upbeat about his job while getting pummeled by requests by tons of people. Had to leave this kid a big tip! Thank you Derrick for making our trip one to remember!

found the rod &reel pier while the wife and kids were on the beach, and spent my last 3 days of vacation there. The fishing was great (when the spanish mackeral start hitting it's none stop action a real adrenalin rush)
when the fish aren't biting just turn around and walk in the bar for a beverage and a burger fantastic fun!!!!!!

Ratings_icons True Florida Style

Rod and Reel pier is truely a taste of old Florida. The atmosphere is not plush or fancy but that is the true charm. You actually are eating seafood which could very well be caught at the actual pier itself. Its so nice to eat a freach fish sandwich prepared just like you like and a beverage for under $10.00 not to mention the lovely views of the Sunshine Skyway bridge. The fishermen fishing off the pier also add to the atmosphere .I dont think anyone could be dissappointed with this tropical combination of good food and scenery .

Ratings_icons Best casual fish restaurant in Florida!

axel w. | insider Insider | Rank: 20,271

Perfect location with view to the Sunshine Skybridge.

Be sure you went to the Rod & Reel Pier which is located north of the city Pier almost at the inland north end of Anna Maria Island.

Sometimes you can watch Dolphins or even Manatees swimming near by.

A very nice outside deck is the entrance of the restaurant on 2nd floor.

Their food is almost perfect.

Go there for lunch!

I would recommend the "fresh catch of the day sandwich" which is usually noted an the blackboard outside.

You can decide how you want that cooked and it comes with fries and coleslaw for $6-7.

Bottomless Soda is 0.94$ and draft bud $1.25.

From the deck you have a fabolous view to Anna Maria.

The best place in Florida - GREAT VALUE and perfect fresh fish!

Give it a try you will definitly not regret it!

PROS: Best Food, GREAT VALUE, NICE PEOPLE
