My children ages 3 and 9 began at Sell's last year. What a great place for them to learn! Fantastic staff; but, more impressive, all the children all love eachother. If there is any disorganization (and there is 200+ kids will do that) it is well worth the learning and love and fun there. My kids are not competing on any speacial team. Even so they have never been slighted in the least. Their love of dance is fostered embraced and developed right along with their skill. My children would live in the studio if Chris and Shanna would let them. They hate to leave and can not wait to come back. What else can I say?

I would just like to agree with whomever was "bad mouthing" Sell's. I agree that the classes and studio are unorganized, and this is not just because they're "artistic and creative". There's a fine line and if you would like to run a business you need to be organized to a point. No place is perfect but this place was very far from it. There are definitely cliques and if your daughter does not have a lot of parental involvement or does not take a million classes, she'll be in the back and won't get as much attention from instructors. Chris and Shanna are very nice people, they just are not ready for a business. Again, just my opinion, no need to tell us to "grow up" when you're fighting right back on a website that is meant for reviews of the studio. We are giving our honest reviews. I have been to 2 dance studios since leaving Sell's and I cannot even tell you the difference. The teachers, choreography, and recitals are 10 times better than Sell's because Sell's is so absorbed in their precious appearances and competition teams. There are ABSOLUTELY better places in NPR to dance, just look around before committing time to Sell's. You will be surprised how disfunctional their studio is compared to other ones. The one I am now going to is more advanced even for myself but teaches me things Sell's does not know how to do. Their recitals are creative, artistic and most of all COMPLETELY ORIGINAL as they do not use the same dances year after year, even if the costume/song is different. Bottom line we are not talking badly about Sell's we are simply voicing our opinion and would just like people to not have to suffer they way a lot of people have at this studio.

I'm a student at Sells and have been dancing there for 6 years. I love it!! I have grown as a dancer so much thanks to the wonderful dance teachers there...Ms. Shanna, Mr. Chris, Ms. Heather and Ms. Julie! They all have inspired me so much to work hard everyday and do my best! I am at the studio just about every day and look forward to going every time. Its like my second home. We're always learning new and fun things. I have made so many great friends there that i will have forever. Everyone is so close and we do everything together. Nothing can compare to how wonderful the recitals and competition dances are. The recitals are like an actual broadway show or even better!!! :-) We're always trying our best at competitions and we always score great!! Ms. Shanna, Mr. Chris, Ms. Heather and Ms. Julie have also inspired me to have my dreams and goals which have helped me to become a better dancer! Their always pushing you to do your personal best and we have so much fun in practice. Every teacher brings out the best in you and brings their own style. All the teachers are different and are fantastic at what they do! About 3 years ago we got to go to NEW YORK CITY for onstage nationals!! We did great and had so much fun! I have so many wonderful memories from all my years at Sells! Sells is a GREAT place to dance and I LOVE it!

Mr.Chris and Ms.Shanna are such talented teachers. They care about ALL their students and strive to make them not only good dancers , but good people as well. Are they unprofessional and unorganized? NOOO WAYY! If you want a business that is perfectly organzied, then sorry lady, but you put yourself and your daughter in the wrong business. Show business always has flaws, even on broadway, but Mr.Chris and Ms.Shanna do a FANTASTIC job, making their recitals PROFESSIONAL and ORGANIZED. Both teachers have AWESOME dance knowledge. One of Mr.Chris and Ms.Shanna's first students has gone on to be in the professional Texas Ballet Company...so they obviously know what their talking about. Don't listen to these people's poor judgements about our studio. Come to the studio, meet the friendly students and teachers, and try out a class or two and make YOUR OWN opinion. The studio could change your life and your dance career for the better....its definetly changed mine.

My daughter has been dancing at Sells Broadway for over 10 years. We have had many wonderful memories to take with us as she is a senior this year and will be moving on. The dance teachers are awesome there and not only teach them but give them correction when needed. My daughter has learned so much there and they are part of why she is such a talented and strong young woman in so many areas of her life not just dance. They have taught her not only dance technique but also how to work hard at what she wants in life. I noticed how some of the reviews talk about most of the kids have parents that kiss up to the owners to get their daughters parts. I take offense to that for so many reasons. I have never kissed up to them although I love them and support them I am there because of my daughters love of dance. I have taught her that you earn the parts by hard work and talent. And although she has had some lead parts she has earned them on her own not because of me. I am willing to help out when needed just like I do in their school and other activites to support my daughters and not for any other reason. I am a coach of basketball and volleyball.I play my best players but give every one a chance to get in there and earn a spot. I discipline my athletes when they need it and coach them where they are weak. When I go up to the studio that is what I see in the teachers as they teach their students. They praise them and give correction where needed. Sometimes my daughter is in the front and sometimes she is not. They know who is strong in what type of dance and they put the girls according to their strengths. I will miss all of this when it comes to an end but know that my daughter will take the experiences she has learned here and whether she goes out into the dance world or whatever she decides to pursue will use what she learned and apply it to make a difference out in the world. So thank you Chris, Shanna, Heather and Julie! You guys are awesome!

My daughter has danced at Sell's since she was 3 1/2 yrs old. She has done just about everything from one class to now on the competition team for the 3rd year. I will tell you, she has turned into a different person altogether! She is confident, more outgoing, and has learned to be a good teammate. And for the people who think that the only people who are writing the reviews are part of a clique, you are so wrong. Have you thought that maybe, we are just proud parents who appreciate the Sells and are very pleased with what our children are learning? Are we not allowed to have a different opinion without having it deemed as being a kiss up?? My daughter is not one of the dancers that are up front, she not one that has been picked to have a lead part. However, I am smart enough to realize that it is not because I am not "kissing up" hard enough, it is because she is not ready for that. And you know what.... she is not complaining. She knows that if she keeps trying and keeps practicing that she will earn the right to be up front more and she will earn a lead part. All of the instructors at Sells is VERY encouraging to her. Yes, it is a crazy schedule and yes there are last minute practices, yes, they run over the time, but the end result is AMAZING!!! The recitals are like no other dance studio in the area! I have family that comes from out of state just to watch! Any one who has known my daughter before dance would agree she was shy, and very insecure. You could not say that now about her. My child LOVES Chris, Shanna, Heather and Julie. She NEVER complains about the late hours of practices, the changes that are made and she also does not comment about any cliques!!! She works very hard and is also a very good student. She absolutely LOVES the Master Classes and I even make it a point to stay and watch the Master Classes because of the talent that comes and teaches our kids. Whenever I have had ANY concerns regarding my daughter and the dance routines, schedules or anything, I have had NO problem talking to any of the instructors and getting their attention. I love that the SELLS strive for the best and work very hard to make sure that our children are learning everything they can from them. They present the routines for the competition teams and the recital as though it were a broadway show! And they do this for the kids to feel good about their hardwork.
I would and have recommended Sells to anyone who asks.

I think the negative comments for this studio are ridiculous! I was a dancer when I was young until about the age of 13. I never even came close to learning what my daughter now is capable of at the age of 12. She is passionate about dance because of the experiences she's had at Sells over the last 5 1/2 years. She does amazing steps now like tap dancing on her tip toes, switch and split leaps unbelievably high, forte turns, etc. Her stage presence and showmanship are priceless to watch. This is all through the mentoring of Chris and Shanna Sell, Heather O. and Julie W. Their choreography is second to none in the bay area. I haven't seen any dance studio come even close to producing the kind of numbers Chris, Shanna, Heather and Julie put out year after year. They win numerous awards at competitions and their recitals are more like broadway shows. I invited 20 people from outside of family to come to last June's recital and every one of them had their mouths agape. They were completely awed by the talent and choreography displayed. They were not giving sugar coated comments to pacify my family--they were truly amazed. The instructors are extremely creative, and people who expect everything in perfect little rows should not become involved with dancing. I was never at recital rehearsals where there wasn't chaos when I was a dancer. It comes with show business everywhere. When I was in drama in high school, they never let us out before midnight during rehearsal week. That's just how it is and if you can't take it, then dancing is definitely not for your child. If you find a studio that is able to make you perfectly happy with schedules and organizations, fine (but your child is probably learning very little, the recitals will be booooring and you'll never be watching your child on broadway). Chris and Shanna lived broadway and they'll be able to steer my child in all the right directions if she should chose that path one day. They have tons of connections with the people that bring their broadway shows to the bay area as well as prima ballerinas and master ballet artists. They are able to bring them to the studio to teach our children even more technique. Heather was a rockette and worked at Disney. They give everyone equal opportunity at the studio. My daughter started late with them in the game, and we were a little skeptical about outsiders ever making it to the front row. Well, I didn't have to kiss any butt to get her there. She made it because she's good and she works hard. The same goes for everyone else that shines at Sells. There are no "special"cliques, it's what your child puts into the experience. My daughter has gotten better and better every year because she dances more and more hours every year with Sells. We don't do anything for the studio except volunteer at recital time. I'd love to do more for them, but I just don't have the time. People have left the studio only to come back realizing their child was missing out. When they come back, they realize their child did miss out and they had a lot of catching up to do to get to the level of their peers. I want to thank Sells personally again for giving my family the gift of dance. My daughter lives and breathes it on average 10-15 hrs a week and still maintains a straight A average at school. As a matter of fact, a majority of the girls have straight A averages that go to Sells. The girls are so well grounded and get so much more than dance from Sells. They are all becoming beautiful ladies inside and out. Thanks Chris, Shanna, Heather and Julie!!!!!!

My daughter has attended Sell's Broadway Dance Co since she was 3 years old. She is now 11. My daughter has become an amazing young lady and has spent a majority of her youth there in the studio with Chris and Shanna. They have help mold her into who she is today... She is outgoing, has an AMAZING spirit, committed to succeed at EVERYTHING she does, and is still humble enough to accept it if she comes in 2nd and be truly happy for the 1st place winner. I TRULY believe that the years of training and dedication the owners of Sell's have given to my daughter have molded her into the person she is today. And for that I am eternally grateful to them.

My daughter has had so many wonderful experiences at Sell's... She traveled at the young age of 8 to New York City to compete in the Nationals with Sells. This she will NEVER forget. The next year her dance team qualified at the Nationals to dance inside of Walt Disney World at MGM Studios... again an unforgettable moment. These memories are countless for her since being with Sell's.

The studio is very committed to giving your child a professional education in dance. They schedule "Master Classes" at least once a month... during these the traveling Broadway Show's Talents come to Sell's Studio on Sat Mornings and spend time teaching our girls... It's remarkable. For example, this weekend, since "Wicked" is in Tampa, some of their top performers are teaching a class to the students at Sell's. They have had a Prima Ballerina teach a master class too. These experiences or priceless.

Any child that has the opportunity to attend at Sell's is very blessed. I would recommend this studio to EVERYONE.

You will be pleased. Have your child try a class or two and they will want more. Yes this is a business, but it feels more like a family.

My daughter joined Sells Broadway about 2 years ago. She LOVES it. Not only is she excited to go to practices (moms love that) the recitals and dances they learn are pretty amazing. My daughters confidence level has gone through the roof and dance has become her passion. Thank you Shanna, Chris, Heather, Kim and Mr Mike

I have been going to Sell's for 3 years now & I absolutely love it! I wouldn't even consider going to another studio ever. This year is going to be the most fantastic year of them all. They've created a message board to pass information on, they've added new classes, and they have such great prices! Go to any other studio and you'll find outrageous prices, but not Sell's. The instruction is phenomenal! They are so professional and truly care about the kid's dance education. Last year I was on the competition team and we just did great at every competition. The recitals are very very professional. They have professional back-drops, unique numbers, and incredible stage props, making you feel like you're in a broadway production! I love Sell's! Never ever ever going anywhere else.

Wow! I am yet again impressed with such a wonderful show this year. The children looked wonderful up on stage and the it was a pleasure to watch everyone's child dance. My daughter loves dancing and has blossomed because of her experiences at this studio. Thank you Chris, Shanna, and Heather for all your hard work and expertise. If you are looking for great dance instruction by experienced and talented dancers this is your place!

I have been a patron of Sell's Broadway Dance for years and I will tell you that the people who complain are usually the ones whose child is untalented, not in dance for the right reasons, and/or have placed pre-determined ridiculous expectations on a studio. Even when I was young and a dancer, time & commitment to "TEACHING" resulted in less of a focus on 'talking to parents and/or organization. It is what artists do. They are teaching dance for the love of it...not for the "business" of it. With that said the results show for themselves of what this company can do. Most of the older kids who started with Sell's have had the honor to move on and travel with large ballet companies all over the world, work for Disney, Busch Gardens, etc. Their end products speak for themselves and can be seen EVERY recital. Yes the rehearsals can be long and challenging, but it is your choice to participate or not. Since the previous complaint stated that it was their 2nd year, then they should have known what to expect and made arrangements accordingly. It is a VOLUNTARY event, not mandatory one so shame on you!

My child started at the age of 4 and never once did I ever feel like my child was not learning anything. It sounds like the parents who "think" their children do not learn anything is just finding a reason (other than reality) of why their child is not doing well and directing it at the instructors.

As far as "moms"/grandparents helping...any other business that have great volunteers who CARE as much as they do should feel lucky. And I don't know of one that would ever turn the help down. Sell's has grown tremendously in a short amount of time and every company that has had the successes and POSITIVE reputation they have had are expected to have growing pains. It's the parents who volunteer that make these pains more bearable as it is a matter of time before the growing pains will go away and improvements made. The ones who have complaints should try CONSTRUCTIVE criticism and/or positive suggestions. It's what they teach your children in school...positive reinforcment produce positive results. (HINT...Complaining and not offering a solution gets you nowhere in life.)

My daughters are NOT in the competition teams and they (nor I) have EVER felt like their training didn't matter. It is the contrary! The instructors put their heart and soul into teaching EVERYONE! If a child doesn't learn "something" then an assessment of the student should be made because there are too many others learning. (Shame on the parent for not bringing their concerns to the table before writing a critique.) Each year they do not get worse...they get better! Afterall, the person complaining stated this was their 2nd year so how would they know? Take it from someone who has been going for 4+ years. I have seen their growth and how they have evolved and I can assure you that the teachers are more than capable of handling 200 students. So at this, I must say...if you are dissatisfied then leave because it is people like you who do not deserve to learn from the best. (Although I know you won't find any better.)

Sell's instructors are the most talented in town and I challenge all the other studios in town to show me how they compare to the end product that Sell's produces. Every business has its glitches and not one other dance company out there are without flaws. In fact, I know other people that have gone to many other dance companies and I have been told nothing compares to Sell's.

same thing again this year, unorganized, they only care about the recital and the competitions. the young kids don't learn anything, they're just there to look cute. they actually kept 3 year olds (including their own) up til midnight several nights because of their precious recital. My daughter hasn't learned anything in the last two years, each year they get worse. 3 instructors for over 200 students is ridiculous and they hire no help just use grandma and moms. I know there has to be something better out there where the kids actually learn...

Whoever footballpro is or whatever should remember that because of the economy, people are going to give up extras that take money. For example, DANCE. That would be the main reason for a decline in enrollment. If people do leave due to negative things involving the studio, that would only be an extremely small percentage. Sell's is surely one of the most professional studios in town. The teachers all care about their students, and that means all of their students. If they did not, why would not take the time and money to ensure an amazing recital. For all those people who complain, go and watch another studio's recital and compare the quality. Sell's is by far more professional.

I'm a student there and I think Sell's Broadway Dance is a great place. They are currently taking some more dance classes to competitions in February 2008. The instructors have so much professional background and regularly teach dances from Broadway Musicals. Although they teach well, sometimes they lack communication. They also have many classes to take and they're adding on more and more. Sell's is great!

My daughter started at Sells about a year ago. We are extremely impressed. Not only does she look forward to going 2 nights a week but her confidence has went Way up and the recital was amazing. I am so surprised at the negative comments a few Mom made. My daughter and I are thrilled that children from the studio went on to NYC to compete....That alone speaks volumes about the teachers at this school...and they WON FIRST PLACE!!! Amazing, way to go girls! You are an inspiration to my daughter. Chris and Shanna, I have never seen two people give so much to your students. We had many family members and friends attend the recital and everyone was blown away. Keep up the great job!

Cons: none

there is one thing that all these posters are saying and that is that they are only focusing on the students who are going to competition and that is simply not true i was in fact asked to go to competition with them but decided not to go for i was too busy but just because i didn't go didn't mean that chris and shanna didn't pay attention to me anymore they are the best teachers i have ever had and are definitely my favorites. also it is not chris and shannas falt that the air conditioning is broken its the buildings and if any of you moms knew anything about dancing you would know that no air conditioning helps the muscles warm up and if you can't take the heat than maybe you should just go outside. These petty little problems that you all talk about happen at every studio so no matter where you go your going to bump into them so you might as well go to a studio who is going to train your precious little child how to dance and in the past we have even had other studios in the county steal our choreography so what does that say to you about their studio. Chris and Shanna are high quality teachers so they deserve to have high quality students that are dedicated to them. I will always go to sells because i love the environment of the students and teachers and if parents want to complain then they should just go to another studio and bring their wining childish selves to another studio and bother them with your petty problems.

I have been at Sell's for a mere 2 years. with some leave, going other places. But let me say this to people who are using this site as a review to look at the studio and to those who are bad mouthing? the what they think is a horrible studio. Take it from a person who has been there and other places. As an adult I can say i have learned a lot of things through these two wonderfull teachers as well as heather. I have gone to studios in pasco pinellas and Sarasota, not to say the studios weren?t decent but, sell's is the most professional. I have been to many professional auditions now in my dancing career and would like to say they get you ready for it. They are the ones who got my training to a high point in which i was able to be accepted into the boston ballet for the summer of 2007, not to mention that they got me ready for the college experience in which i got a fully paid scholarship for dance and are preparing me for the real world of dance entertainment. So for those who think that this studio isnt a "good"studio, let me tell you that with out the support and love that these teachers have given me. i would not be the dancer i am today. I would not be starting my career. I would be stuck in pasco for the rest of my life but they have sent me to these auditions and pushed me in class. With out these two essentials I wouldnt be going anywhere with my career. I love where i started. i am proud to call it my home. So for all those who say it is chaotic and horrible let me say this. If you have such complaints as i have read then you try and get to broadway, make a career out of it, come back to pasco open a studio, raise to kids and still make a success of your dancers and tell me how far you get! The best dancers in pasco, pinellas and this general area are coming from this studio trust me becuz i have seen. Chris and Shanna you are training amazing kids through your teaching and words of wisdom!
p.s. To you parents who are acting like children GET OVER IT!

I thoroughly enjoyed the recital again this year including the numbers my child wasn't in. The backdrops and lighting were very professional. I am amazed at the talent behind the owners every year. They are very patient when working with even the youngest dancers and they really challenge the older ones too. It was a very entertaining show as always.
My daughter attends this studio because of the talented instructors. If you know anything about personalities you are aware that extremely creative people usually are not very organized. I overlook this when I see the improvement in my child's dancing and confidence every year. I might also mention that my child dances in the back row and I'm still happy because she loves what she is doing!
Sometimes it can be annoying when you need to speak to an instructor, but I try to be understanding when they are unavailable because they are teaching a class which is what I pay them for. All in all I am very pleased with this studio. Those that are unhappy with the lack of organization should look elsewhere but don't be surprised if the quality of instruction isn't as good. It is human nature to focus on what you are good at. Chris and Shanna are awesome dance instructors.

I must say that I am appauled by the childish comments posted on this site. This is NOT a chat room, nor is it a place for gossip. My daughter has been attending classes at Sell's for 5 years now. She LOVES it and so do we. Chris, Shanna, and Heather offer professional instruction in a kid friendly way. I actually came to the site to comment on another terrific recital and I was dumbfounded to find the negativity and pettiness here. No, my child is not in one of the numbers. She is not a "favorite" but that is because I don't feel that there are favorites. I cannot believe that grown adults are writing things about innocent children. As I stated before, we are not part of the New York group. But, I am very excited for them. I happen to have a class with some of the girls who are going. The moms', in my opinion, have been very conscientious. I don't feel that I have heard a lot about fundraising. And if I did, who cares?? It is just like them raising money for football and soccer. I am happy to support them with their trip. My daughter is proud to say that the studio she goes to has a group going to New York. To all of the people going to that competition, good luck! We'll be thinking of you.

Now, to use this site for what it is intended....... Sell's has a fabulous program for all ages. I highly recommend it. They give a high level of instruction and truly care about their students. Their students look happy. Their recitals are amazing. They are like a Broadway production. Their are alot of parents very willing to help out. That says something. Don't look at them as brown-nosers but as volunteers. People who are willing to volunteer their time. They sacrifice seeing their child on stage. I know this because I did help out backstage. I didn't see anything but caring moms trying to get the performers on stage.

Chris and Shanna are doing a wonderful job. We can't wait until classes start again in August.

I would like to please remind everyone to remember that these are just little girls we are talking about when you speak of these little rockettes. These comments are very disheartening coming from women who are obviously mothers too. Let's face it ladies, Little Miss Megan is in a lot of different classes and all of those classes were not chosen. Actually, Chris and Shanna honestly just tried the competition thing to see what would happen. It really was a last minute decision. When they placed and were invited to other competitions it just sort of was carried on. Truthfully, Shanna wasnt even sure if she wanted to go to New York or not, the push was not from the studio at all. She let the parents decide, especially because of the financial commitment involved. You are all acting scary when you speak about these innocent little girls. They truthfully do not even realize what is going on and are just having fun. Please remember this... And that was a very mean comment posted about the way the Rockettes performed in the recital, I'm not sure how many know this but they just found out the night before the performance they were in the recital and had not practiced in a long time. I just hope you remember that these little girls are just dancing to enjoy life and where ever it may take them.

Another year come and gone!!! These recitals are just getting better with every year. This was my daughters 6th recital at this studio and I can't imagine her dancing anywhere else but for the Sells in there shows. ALL the dancers did a wonderful job this year and should all be proud of themselves. Speaking for myself I would like to say thank you to Chris, Shanna, and Heather for teaching my daughter to dance. I am amazed every year how well she is progressing. There is a passion in these teachers that they pass on to our kids and for that they deserve many Thanks. I wish the competition dancers the best of luck in NYC!!! My daughter will not be there but they will all be in our thoughts. I would like to add that although there is alot of chaos around recital time it all becomes worth it when the children come out to do there last bow of the night and every single one of the dancers has a smile from ear to ear. For me that is all I need to know my daughter is where she should be.....Sells Broadway Dance Company.

For me that is all I need to know my daughter is where she should be.....Sells Broadway Dance Company.

.

There are major issues with this studio, including that the owners have, for the past year, focused on a very small group of students, including only those in their daughter's class. This is because they wanted their daughter to get competition experience, so they only selected her class plus one group of older girls who had been at the studio for many years. They did not open this experience up the every dancer at the studio by holding open auditions for everyone to have a chance. Everyone else received limited attention and left many 10-13 yr old girls feeling they were not good enough, or were not liked by the owners. Be a smart consumer and do some research before you go to this studio. or any other studio. You will find that the well run studios allow everyone a chance to audition for competition teams; they are not hand picked by the owners. Also, ask to see the recital programs for 06 and 07, then count the actual number of students. You will see that this studio numbers are down by at least 75 to 100 students this year because many, many have left for very valid reasons. This should raise a red flag to you. Ask if these owners, who are the teachers, are certified to teach. They are not. This means they are not experienced in how to teach, how to encourage and motivate young children. They do not know how to build self esteem through the dance experience. Ask around town. When someone tells you how great the studio is, ask them if their child went to competition. If they did, then they are in that small, select group and so of course they think it's great. This small group received hours upon hours of additional training, while most others at the studio were ignored. Then there is their most recent advertisement in a local publication where they are advertising that boys dance for free at this studio. Isn't that discrimination against girls? Also, many previously posted negative reviews posted here have been deleted, probably because the owners complained.

Pros: Do your research for your child's sake!

Cons: Not a positive place for self esteem of children, customers not valued

Everthing the poster below me wrote, I completely agree with. Our family was also with Sell's up until this year (finishing the recital this week, then that is it!), and we will not be going back for more insanity. We too have dealt with the unorganized chaos of this studio, the broken down air conditioning, the 20-30 students in one small dance room, and the lack of communication from the owners. Their focus IS now on their competition numbers, and not on their existing students. If I have to hear the same mom's talking about NYC and their fundraising to get there, I think I will scream! If they want a dance team that is fine, but they should give EVERY student the opportunity to audition, and not just pick and choose who they want without giving everyone a chance. How fair is that? Also, so many of the mom's at this studio are so catty, we just cannot deal with that anymore either. I know that our family and many more that have not made their feelings known yet have said they will be finding a new studio next year. From what I hear there are TWO new studios opening right on SR54 thank goodness, so we will all finally have choices here in Trinity on where to dance!!!

My daughter has been dancing at this studio since she was 3 years old. She has never wanted to skip a dance class or dread going. She absolutely loves them. She is a very outgoing child and a true leader. I firmly believe that The Sell's have instilled these qualities in her. Yes, it is true that sometimes the air is broken or that the communication sometimes has room for improvement., but I would NEVER change studios. We love it here. This is my daughter's 5th recital and she is so excited about it! This studio has the absolute best recital performances you will ever see. Our family is amazed each and every year. I have read on some of the postings on this site about the competing teams and the jealousy they are feeling. This is really unfair to those girls performing and winning to go on to the next competition. Your child's dance group may be the ones going next year to competition. They had to pick a few numbers and couldn't possibly pick everyone. Just felt compelled to post my view on this studio. I very strongly encourage you to try this studio first and you will never want your child to go dance anywhere else.

Another family here that will not be returning next year. Tired of the chaos and the lack of communication.

Sell's has been another home for me for the last 4 1/2 years I've been dancing there. They are very professional and when it comes to safety of their students that is ALWAYS first priority. Their recitals are amazing every year and are always very impressive. The choreography is very original, and Chris and Shanna are very nice and approachable. Contrary to what many people say the studio is not all about just certain groups of students. Chris and Shanna care greatly about all of their students and each class and dance. The studio is large and the classes are always exciting. I would never think of going anywhere else, and if your thinking about trying out the studio I would definitly recomend it.

Sell's is a great dance studio, I would not send my child anywhere else. I think the problem that some of the other posters had was the parent's problem and not the child's. If the studio is not for you, move on, there is no reason to "bash" the studio. My child has made life-long friends with many of the dancers and loves Chris & Shanna. The recials are top notch and rival any Broadway performance, they are unique and professional.

Sell's Broadway Dance Company is a great dance studio to attend. I was 8 years old when i was supposed to go to my first dance class. I told my mom i was sick and i couldnt go, when really i was just afraid. I was afraid to meet the teachers, afriad i wouldnt make friends, and i was afriad to dance. But the day i took my first step into that studio, it changed my life. Everything turned out to be wonderful. Chris and Shanna are the most hard working, dedicated teachers i have ever met. They put their heart and soul into teaching kids the tecnique of dance. Their recitals are phenomonial, leaving the crowd in awe. It's not easy being a dance teacher, and no one gives them enough credit. They have many students that attend their studio, and the number keeps growing everyday. This goes to show you how amazing these two teachers are and that's why the classes can sometimes be big. It dosnt matter if you are in the back, middle or the front line...dancing is dancing. If its what you love to do, it wont matter. Dancers aren't made of their technique, or the line they are put in..... but by their passion. Chris and Shanna have helped me find the passion of dance, and if thats not a great dance teacher then i dont know what is.

I am laughing because everyone posting here that LOVES Sell's is probably in one of their two little competition dances. Those are their "elite dancers" and the ones that are favored. My daughter is still there because her friends are there, but I think we will be phasing out after this recital. We will look elsewhere. I am sick of all of the brown nosing parents, and the girls that think they are so much better than all the others because they were picked to be a "Rockette" or whatever. The parents act the same way...it is ridiculous. Nothing against Chris and Shanna...they are very nice people, and I think they try, but there are a lot of cliques, and I can never communicate with anyone at the studio.

The posters below might LOVE Sell's Broadway dance, and that is fine....that is their opinion. I still stand by MY opinion however. The classes are too crowded, the rooms too small, and there is too much favoritism. All the posters below are in the "clique' that people speak about, so of course they are happy. Maybe their kids do work hard, but so do all the other kids at the studio. You would be surprised at how many of the kids are also not happy. It is just not the parents. There are TWO groups of girls that are favored at this studio, and I bet every post supporting Sell's is either a student from either of these groups OR a parent from either of these two groups. This studio is just run very poorly, and is very, very unorganized. That is why we are going elsewhere. It is just time to move on. You will always have people that love one studio and others that want something better. Again, this is our family's decision and my opinion of this studio.

This studio is absolutly amazing! There is not one thing bad that I could possably say bad about them!! The are not only the best dance teachers ever, but they run an awsome studio. If you are new to the area don't waste your time looking at any other studios, come to sell's.
Sell's Broadway Dance Company is my home away from home. I can come here if I've been having a bad day and know that everyone here will make me feel so much better. Then when I get in the studio I feel like I am so comfortable here that I can just dance my heart out!! I just want everone to know that I would recomend this studio to any dancer, ones with a lot of experiance and those with no experiance. I love this studio with all my heart. And for the people who are giving it bad reviews I want you to know that you really need to find something better to do with your time.

Sell's Broadway Dance Company offers an excellent dance program for students of all ages and at all levels. My child has danced there for several years and loves it there. Chris and Shanna are more than just dance teachers, they are mentors and friends and are very special to my daughter who is now in high school. She may never dance on Broadway but she is growing up to be a beautiful, graceful young woman who has learned discipline and confidence in herself. Chris and Shanna are two dedicated professionals who have been a very large part of my daughter's life and I am grateful for their acceptance of and instruction to my daughter. Thank you Sell's Broadway Dance Company.

Sell's Broadway Dance Company is the best studio around our area. The teachers/owners, Chris and Shanna, are extremely talented professionals with years of Broadway experience. Their recitals give their students the taste and feel of performing on stage with great choreography, backdrops, lighting and staging. It's like watching a real Broadway variety show. You would have to take your child to New York City to get anything close to what they provide in their studio. If that isn't enough, they are always inviting talented professionals into the studio through master classes, workshops and summer intensives. Great! Great! Great! How lucky we are to be able to offer our children such a great Broadway experience. Thank you Chris and Shanna!

Wow! Another Great Recital!!! They just keep getting better and better! Have a fantastic summer everyone! Keep reading for my "review"....

As a parent you know how difficult it is to find a great teacher for your child. And there are many talented performers out there. To find a talented performer who is also a great teacher is very rare. Not only are we fortunate to have one such teacher but two in Chris and Shanna Sell. My daughter has been a student at their studio for over 6 years. I originally enrolled her in dance so she would learn to move with grace and develop self-discipline and teamwork. She discovered a passion that has had a tremendous impact on her life. Chris and Shanna have passed their love for dancing to my daughter. They work very hard to give the best instruction to every student. Students from this studio have been accepted at ABT, San Francisco Ballet, Alvin Aiely Dance Theatre, Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, Jr Rockettes, etc. They entered two dance teams this year for the first time and took top awards at a regional dance competition and are headed to nationals in NYC. My daughter has received many compliments on her technique and dancing skills wherever she attends various workshops and camps. Chris and Shanna also try their best to accommodate parent's concerns. It is unfortunate that some believe that "favoritism" prevents their child from excelling. My daughter has worked very hard, taking several classes per week, to become the dancer she is. She has sacrificed much including IB Program, athletics and other activities to devote her time and energy to dance. She is not always front and center and has learned some hard "life lessons". Her mom has learned some as well in letting her daughter "earn" her spot. If your child is serious about dancing and is willing to work hard, his/her effort will be recognized. This is the best studio in town, believe me, I know!

First of I would like to address the subject on the hip hop teacher. They do background checks on all teachers and as soon as they heard that he met with a student outside of class they let him go immediately. There was nothing else they could have done. Next, Chris and Shanna ( the instructors and owners ) are more than teachers to most of us. They are like a second family. They are amazing teachers who know what they are doing. They wouldn't have dance on Broadway for so long if they didn't. In addition to their talent, they are very caring people. That certain "group" is not necessarily "favored" but they have been there since the beginning and have worked very hard. Those girls have given up time, other activities, and so much more to better themselves at dancing. They are very serious and dedicated with dancing. Obviously people who take this more seriously will be featured more. They are very professional and do their best for their students. That's all that I have to say except that the people bad mouthing Chris and Shanna need to grow up.

I have been dancing @ Sells for the past 8 years & I have never been more happier. I have always loved dance & knew that thats what i was going to be. Sells has made my passion deeper each year.

They are amazing teachers, not just teachers but family =]. They stay late after a class with you when you are struggling, encourages you when you are feeling bad about yourself, puts their all in the end of the year performance, can tell when your having a bad day && just talks to you and tells you everything is going to be alright. I have never seen 2 people be there and have a heart for that many kids.

They have come and encouraged students @ auditions. Come to their students schools to do the Great American Teach In dressed up as Cats! I love these 2 very much.

This studio is great && i would def. recomend them to any girl or boy who has a love for dance. You will be very happy =]. I promise!!

Sell's Broadway Dance Center is a wonderful studio. Don't let anyone tell you differently! Their recitals and competition routines speak for themselves! The instructors here are great and the kids that dance here learn so much and are challenged every day!!! There is not another studio in this area that compares to the instruction you will get here. Come see a recital or a competition and you be the judge!

I agree with the other poster below......We are also going to be pulling our daughter out of this studio. We also just found out that their new "hip hop" instructor was let go for "giving a student private instruction" without her parents permission! What type of dance teachers is Sell's hiring??!! Anyway, this along with all the other chaos at this studio is enough for us to look elsewhere. I heard there is another Trinity dance studio opening up by the new Outback....we will possibly look into that studio or Dance Evolutions in Tarpon Springs which I have also heard is really good. Don't waste your money or time at Sell's Broadway Dance.

Please do not listen to any of these negative reviews! Chris and Shanna Sell are wonderful, generous people who always inspire their students to work hard and have a love of dance. Ms. Heather and Ms. Julie are wonderful teachers as well. They challenge their students at the studio and are wonderful dancers themselves!! The end of the year recitals are fabulous, and everyone always raves about them after seeing the show. I would not have my family dance anywhere else after having found Sell's Broadway Dance Center! They are top notch!!!

This will be our last year at Sell's Broadway Dance. We paid for costumes so will finish out the year, but after that, we will not be sending our girls back. Once again, they are very unorganized with everything, and only concentrate on CERTAIN girls at their studio. If you are not in this particular group, your child will NOT be noticed. We have had enough! We know of a lot of former students that now go to Dance Evolutions in Tarpon and say they love it, so we will be checking out that studio this summer. Sell's has not changed a bit over the years. The same girls are their "favorites", and nobody else is given a chance. I have been hearing nothing but negative comments from other parents as well about this studio, so I know it is not just my family! I would NOT reccommend this studio to anyone after our experience here.

This will be our last year at Sell's Broadway Dance. We paid for costumes so will finish out the year, but after that, we will not be sending our girls back. Cons: Class sizes are HUGE...not enough room to dance!

In response to Laf....yes, we were with Sell's for several years and in the beginning we were happy with the studio, but it has gone downhill! They are losing students and the numbers are absolutely down from years past. People are realizing that they do not know how to run a business. They absolutely favor "certain" students and the majority of parents at this studio will tell you that. Unless Laf, you are one of the parents of those "certain" students, then of course you would be THRILLED with the studio! No, I am not bitter, just feel my daughter needs to move on to something better. Unfortunately for Sell's, I think a lot of parents will also be pulling their kids out and moving on soon.
