Went to cityplace to see John Pinette.. HILARIOUS!! Venue itself, very nice.. First time back since they redid everything. But, the room was very beautiful. Wish we would've gotten there earlier, as we were towards the back. But could still easily see the stage. I had Strawberry daiquir's and a martini, husband had beers. Was a little weary of 15% gratuity as well, but server explained they do that for all parties. Overall, looking forward to going back. Nice evening out.

We went to the Palm Beach improv. tonight (12/12/09) with high hopes of having some laughs and a good time. This was our first time at the club. We were told there was a 2 drink minimum, no problem (we thought). As it turned out, the drinks were more then $11.00 a piece... and they were so watered down they were more laugh provoking then the acts (although this is not saying much). The service was even worse then the drinks. We discovered why our waitress did not care even a teeny bit about her job performance when we discovered the %18 gratuity that was stuck onto the check. We wound up with a MASSIVE check between the mandatory drinks and the tip for a miserable waitress who deserved a big fat zero (and we usually tip very well). I can not speak to the food, except to say the couple behind us had a fit over how bad theirs was.
Perhaps we would not have cared as much about the greed of it all, the expense, and the atrocious service if the comics had been even slightly funny, but they really stunk. As it was, we were disgusted with our overall experience.
My suggestion? Watch a recording of a good comic at home and make your own drinks next Saturday.

This club has some pretty good acts sometimes. We went with a big group of women and they took pretty good care of us.We had dinner there.I would suggest you eat before going because the food is not the greatest.

This Improv Comedy Club has some good acts. Located in City Place, it hosts some unknown and known comics. You will see many of them come out of that program on TV, "Last Comic Standing" and they are funny performers.

Inside you will find a bar area and a restaurant. Lots of people hang out there before the show and it caters to a younger crowd.

I get their email newsletter sent to me and they usually have discounted tickets for sale. The "2 for 1" ticket coupons can also be found in the Entertainment Coupon Book for the area. The only problem, though, we experienced is that the coupon is not good on special engagements, like the more known names. Nevertheless, it is a fun evening.

PROS: good performers
CONS: don't accept coupons for special engagements

FOOD. This is a world class comedy club with performers that you'll easily recognize from television and movies. I was fortunate enough to be seated front and center at a recent show by Colin Quinn (SNL & Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn). The seating is a little tight, but the stage is large enough (and high enough) so that you can see it from just about anywhere you are seated. This is touted as a dinner club...but if you really want to enjoy your evening....have dinner elsewhere. The food was barely passable and extremely overpriced. So...go for the laughs, but skip the chow.

PROS: great acts
CONS: Horrible food.
