I really did not like this school. I didn't think the teachers were accessible, and had a very distinct "no parents" feel to the school. It was hard to even get in and meet the teachers. For example, the first week of school there was a "meet the teachers day" and a "fundraising party" scheduled within days of each other. Bad weather cancelled both events, but the fundraising day was immediately rescheduled for a few days later while the "meet the teacher" day was just dropped like it meant nothing. Then, when I went in to meet the teachers on my own, I was kicked out like I was intruding. I also don't think they hold very strictly to a montessori environment. Many of the teacher were harsh to the children. Finally, the location is directly across the street from the local dog pound and the smell and sounds are so disturbing. I just don't think it's a healthy environment... especially considering it's one of the most expensive options. I would consider Montessori Tides or even traditional preschool before Discovery if I had it to do all over. Unfortunately, the contract states I have to pay the full year tuition even if we leave for their own shortcomings... which does not give them any real incentive to perform or even be satisfactory. Once you start there, they get the full year's tuition whether you are happy with their services or not. In fact, it's better for them if you do leave because they can fill your kid's spot with other unsuspecting parents and get two tuitions from the same spot or they can just leave it empty and have fewer children in their classroom but still have full tuition. I really don't know how they've stayed in business. I guess when people hear "montessori" they just assume it's good... but it's not. Not in the least.

Pros: called "montessori"

Cons: excludes parents, not really montessori in values, near dog pound, expensive, stacked contract to trap parents
