I've been living at Nantucket Bay since December 2008 and have nothing but praise for the management and staff. They have gone above and beyond to help me during some difficult financial and physical times; always supportive and going the extra to assist in any way possible. Although the clubhouse area is not available during non-business hours, it is not the fault of the staff. Put the blame where it should go...to those few tenants who can't be trusted. The honor system is great, but because of these few, the rest can't take advantage of it. I read these complaints and wonder if I'm in the same place. I have no problems recommending this development to anyone. I feel safe and secure knowing I'm in a gated, quiet, well taken-care-of community and I commend the current staff for turning things around and making it a welcome place to live.

Nantucket Bay and Gatehouse Management of Mansfield, Massachusetts have a history of poorly maintaining apartment units and a lack of responsiveness to residents issues and complaints. See The Ledger Newspapers of Lakeland, Florida for articles by Eric Pera concerning Gatehouse Management.

Nantucket Bay has a history of rude, offensive and insulting behavior towards its tenants by management. Office managers change like the seasons. Maintenance of units and amenities is always an issue. Units have old and dirty carpeting in need of replacing, mold in some units, stained and peeling bathroom floors, no rain gutters on four of five buildings after years of assurances they would be installed.

Additionally there are little or no senior activities or special social events sponsored by management. We are on our own in that regard. The clubhouse, our social center, is closed each day at 6 p.m. and weekends therefore we have no place to assemble, socialize, have games, events, parties, computer access, library access after hours. Corporate Management has stated in letter form that the senior community can utilize the outside pool deck for those purposes, regardless of the season or the weather conditions. They feel this is a more then reasonable alternative for seniors who are weather sensitive, unsteady on their feet, using electric wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, canes, etc

Cable is $48 extra a month payable to Nantucket Bay above the normal cable fees charged by Brighthouse Networks. Washer and Dryers are an additional $40 each monthly. Some residents say they are being charged a monthly pet fee above and beyond their initial pet fee at lease signing.

The local January edition of "Senior Connection" has a full page ad on page 14 whereby Gatehouse Management states the base price for a one bedroom apartment is $564.00 per month yet I pay a base price of $579.00.

If you think a 10X10 room with two treadmills, a stationary bike and some free weights constitutes a "Fully-Equipped Fitness Center" as advertised then Nantucket Bay is for you. Also as advertised we have a Shuffleboard Court but management lost or misplaced the playing equipment years ago and the Court's paint is peeling and concrete surfaced cracked and covered in pine sap. They took the heater out of our "Spa" years ago and it leaked last summer and the concrete core is peeling from the inside. The interior pool and spa lights have not worked for years either after continued assurances over the years that they were a priority item. And if you like sitting on damaged or broken pool furniture stained with mold you'll just love our pool area.

It is my opinion that Gatehouse Management, Inc. and Nantucket Bay Apartments in particular are in the business of warehousing seniors purely for profit as they continually put off these needed repairs year after year.

As a resident I think it unfortunate that Nantucket Bay and Gatehouse Management, Inc. of Mansfield, Massachusetts are so indifferent to the needs of its residents. They continually fail to provided even the minimum standards of compliance with State and Local Health, Safety and Fire Regulations without having to notify the Fire Marshall or Code Enforcement. It has been a ongoing battle between the residents, the residents council and management for the last several years.

The Property and its amenities are poorly maintained, numerous pieces of pool furniture damaged and/or broken and covered with mold, pool maintenance and cleanliness haphazard, mold in walls of some units, old dirty carpeting needs replacing, peeling and stained bathroom floors, no rain gutters on four of the five buildings, damaged or removed landscaping not replaced or replanted, old tree stumps left in place, lighting on property poorly maintained, etc.

Contrary to advertising there are no management sponsored activities and special social events outside of what the residents provided for themselves. The Clubhouse, our social center, is closed every evening at 6 p.m. and all weekend leaving us no place to congregate, socialize, have games, events, internet access, etc. Corporate Management has stated in letter form that they feel we can utilize the outside pool deck for such functions regardless of the season or weather conditions. They feel that is a safe alternative and more then adequate for unsteady, weather sensitive seniors in electric wheelchairs or utilizing walkers, crutches, canes, etc.

Cable is $48 a month extra payable to Nantucket Bay in addition to the Brighthouse Networks monthly fees and there's a $40 fee each month if you want a washer and dryer. Both require a years long contract.

Management has a continuous history of being rude and offensive to its senior community and reluctant to respond to maintenance issues.

Pros: Good location, nice setting, easy access to everything.

Cons: Poorly maintained, mamangement unresponsive to seniors needs.

The apartment are very lovely and the site pretty but he management is consistently terrible. My mother lived there for 4 years and one manager was as bad as the next. The management of course is a reflection of a larger problem, the corporate office. Perhaps if enough of the residents complained something would be done. Everything that was said in a prior review was accurate. The garbage is not picked up, the pool and spa are not maintained, the residents are constantly threatened with eviction for minor things. Its sad.

DO NOT MOVE HERE! This place appears to be okay but it is terrible. They tell you you have to take their washer dryer. You do not! They have to take the washer dryer out of the apartment if you want yours moved in.The staff is deceptive. It takes MONTHS to have garbage removed. It takes MONTHS to get leaks fixed. It takes MONTHS to have air conditioners repaired. The pool is never clean and they have removed the heater from the spa. What good is a spa without a heater? The only activities are the ones that the residents put together. STAFF DOES NOTHING. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! NO ONE LIVING HERE WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.THE STAFF IS INCOMPETENT, SULLEN, AND DISRESPECTFUL TO EVERYONE. WHAT A GROUP? WE WOULD ALL BE LEAVING IF IT WEREN'T SO EXPENSIVE TO MOVE OUT.

This apartment complex is a senior complex where you must be 55 plus and some income restrictions apply. The apartment complex is really quiet and well kept especially for the low cost. They have lots of activities for seniors and really cater to their clients. The apartments have a neautral theme and I think just about anyone could be happy in one.
