I was a tourist in miami for the first time. As I walked by Meds, a hostess enticed us in with the first round of drinks free followedb by the buy one get one free bit (which is exactly like a every other cafe on ocean blvd). However, our waiter was absolutely the rudest server I have ever encouter. He was dishonest and acted like we did not know what we were talking about when we informed him of the discussion we had with the hostess. Early in life I was a server myself so I am extremely patient in the restaurant scene. I know one person should not represent an entire restaurant but when I reported the incident to the res of the staff I received the same rudeness. I left. I walked down to Park Central Cafe and enjoyed a good meal and excellent service.

Regardless of how good your food or atmosphere may be, it is nothing without customer service. I walked down to Park central cafe and enjoyed a meal with excellent service!

So many lively restaurants in South Beach..why did I pick this one? Well, it had this awesome happy hour special...anything you order on the menu (select items) was $3.99.

They also had two for one specials on drinks and cheap beer. Although, the two for one special..isn't that special..two margaritas for $10. Come on, I expect better for happy hours.

They have a good singer performing there; its not the best entertainment on the street, but its not bad. The entertainment is definitely family friendly.

The ambiance in the restaurant is nice. We had great seating. The service was quick. Food is cheap, but okay. Quesadillas suck, the pizza and minstrone soup was good.

One thing I hate that some of these places do, they automatically add the 15% gratuity and then when you pay by Credit Card, they ask for another tip.

PROS: Its cheap, great ambiance and service
CONS: drinks aren't so cheap...and food is so-so

Cafe Med is right on South Beach in the heart of all the action. Their menu is mainly Mediterranian, but they have several specials each night. That's what drew us in... the plates of huge lobster tales with a fairly big Filet Mignon...

So we sat on the sightwalk to people-watch while we dined and simply ordered that lobster dinner special without asking to the prices. Big mistake. The regular items were a little high but this is South Beach after all.. we figured this special was in keeping with those prices. ahem.

First, the portions were huge and cooked perfectly, but the lobster had a bit too much hot seasoning for me right in the middle of the tail. Also, the drawn butter was on the verge of acrid, likely it scalded during the melting. ick. This came with a mound of mashed potatoes all done up with little tomatoes as eyes and some kind of leaves as tails or something. It was cute.

However, the final bill for those two entrees, one ice tea, and 2 Heinikens came to $182. I almost choked. My companion didn't blink an eye but I have to tell you, I've eaten at much better places for less.

Skip this one in spite of the 4 star rating I'm giving them.

PROS: decent food cutely presented
CONS: Way over priced
