On August 4, 2014, I was with my brother (Jose Hernandez) in its emergency room in the room 10. Mili, the nurse was very friendly and extremely professional. We are very grateful for their attention.
But on the other hand we are very unhappy and amazed at what we saw in the work area. You have some nurses who damage the image of the hospital. For starters have heard that named by Mrs. Janet Troche, is an unprofessional, despot, spoiled nurse, using dirty words all the time, and laughing about pt. On the other hand Mrs Odali, unprofessional, ironic, haughty, arrogant, despot, treating patients and staff as trash and mocking them. Making jokes about patients and laughing about them. We witnessed the despot and arrogant treatment she provided to the Secretary, and the atrocities that she spoke about the doctor on duty.
Both do not serve neither to work with animals.
PROFESSIONAL WORK DONE BY OTHERS IS OVERSHADOWED BY SUCH UNPROFESSIONAL
It is very sad that you have nurses like hers working for you.

i came in complaining of chest pain which later resulted in my own self diagnoses (pinched nerves)
i walk in and the attitude of the night shift stunk like death. they treated me like work and not like a patient or a human. i work at a hospital and i know what should be done and how, i sat and watched to see what they would do any miscorrections i soon jumped and told them their mistake- which was plenty.

it took FOREVER to finally see a doctor which was 30 min later and wasnt even busy! it was barely empty! he was seted across from my room and watched him talk acnd chatter with the nurses and staff about cafe con leche. when they were finally done, he tottered over to my room introduced himself, did a short physical, checked my airways and asked me whats up in all under 5 min. he later (6 hours later) admits me i asked to see him and the nurses ignored my order for him. i was starving, they never offered a pillow or blanket and almost the entire staff had a strong accent to the point a couple of them barely spoke english. i hated my entire stay there. plus, i was fasting from meat at the time so i asked for a vegan meal choice- guess what i got? a friggin slice of turkey with gravy and mashed potatoes. asked the nurse to please change, she smiled and said that "whats ordered is ordered, we cant change it now, maybe later theyll see the note" i wait till later to fin another tray with meat ..... stay far from this place- it sucks. i hated my stay there.

I visited the Palm Spring Emergency Room a few days ago. I was really impressed with the care i received from the nurses and doctors. For the past few years, my diabetes has been given me a hard time. I visited Palmetto and Hialeah hospital a few times last year. The service and the care in those hospitals are terrible. The nurses and doctors at Palm Springs were always happy to give me the information I requested. They also made sure i was fed at a timely manner during my stay. I also liked how clean and organized the hospital was. I would also like to note Orencia's (the nurse who attended me) outstanding job, as well as Mirta, the charge nurse that constantly check up on me and support me and my family. I would recommend this hospital to any of my family and friends for sure. They are really awesome people. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!

This hospital is the best. The emergency room is outstanding. All the staff is attentive and kind especially Luis, male RN in the ER. I live 4 blocks from Hialeah Hospital and refuse to go there. We will only go to PSH. Your wait will rarely exceed 30 minutes no matter when you go. We've taken my parents at different times of the day and they are amazing. Yes, the hospital is old but the equipment is not. The care is outstanding. I'll take an old hospital with good staff over a new hospital with rude staff. The patient to nurse/physician ratio is so small that the care is personal. It is like a family and they run like a well oiled machine. For everyone posting a review, you obviously have never been to any of the other local hospitals or you would realize that this is the best kept secret in hospitals. If you're not in the Hialeah area then the only other hospitals that come close are Doctors and Coral Gables. Lets continue to the room. You have the option of paying for a private room. This is not an option at other hospitals. The room rate is $50 per day which is spectacular considering you have a twin size sofa bed that allows you to stay with your loved one and as you all know - Cubans dont leave their families behind. We have been there several times (my Dad is 91 and Mom 82 -it happens) and we have yet to get an unattentive and uncaring nurse. When you approach the nurses station they immediately inquire of your needs. Try that anywhere else. The response at other hospitals is ' go back to your room and we will send someone'. Fat chance. I try to always get the names of the staff so they're recognized and right now Janette Bendel is the only one that sticks out but everyone on the 3rd floor is amazing. So YES I recommend this hospital!!

Oh my God!!!!! My father was taken thru the ER, they made his wife a DNR without explaining what it was. Pressured her by telling that she had to sign it now, while she was explaining that she wanted to consult with me his daughter, because she did not know what she was signing. They told her no!!!! She needed to sign it now!. Basically they were letting my father die. He had 50% of oxygen in his body, blood pressure 32 and was desperatley gasping for air with a mask on. If I hadn't gotten there when I did and made a scene, my father would have died. I called a family member thats a nurse and read all the monitors to her and she she asked me to lift his eyelids and look at his pupils, she said sreem because he's dieing!!! I had to tell the ER doctor to place the tubing down his throat because we did not authorize any DNR. they gave him medication to raise his blood pressure because of my screeming. My father spent 5 hours and 22 minutes with 50-62% oxygen and 32 blood pressure. Do the math, my father should have died of a heart attack or should be brain dead. Oh did I mention that he dad a quadruple bypass last year? If one of your loved ones ends up in this hospital, make sure you never leave their side because if they are alone most chances are they will die! The only thing that I am grateful for is that the ER doctor listened to me, but it was not easy and it shouldn't have to be like that!

In any Hospital there are great, average and bad people, if your loved one is very sick , so sick that hospitalization is requiered, chances are he or she can die, if MY MOTHER is dirty with ca ca I will not wait for no one to do what I consider my duty, not even the best nurse, even thouth they are there for that purpose also, and If you dont like Cuban Cofee smell, you better drive a little north and you will have american coffe, simple as that.

I was in ER 5/27/2010 , in room 18 , when i saw the patient in room 17 felt of the high bed. I told that accident to his nurse, Mrs. Odali and she told, OH YES JOSE VALDES is waiting for family to pick up him. WHERE IS THE IPA LAW. And im told to her again he is in the floor, he felt , then she began to scream and fight with that old man. The surprise for me was that she never told that accident to the family and i never saw the doctor see that patient after that accident. That accident happens every day and nobody care, thats why patiets have mysteries dead

To those of you who keep commenting that Palm Springs takes the "Tax payers" money... you guys need to do some research. The ONLY hospital that has this "right" is Jackson.. you know that hospital that's on the brink of closing?
Palm Springs is still the ONLY privately owned hospital around. And to those who keep complaining about having loved ones there and no one paying attention to them.. how long are you there visiting? If you're there 24/7 why don't you say something about it? Why don't you complain when you're there so the problem is resolved? Stop using your guilt of not being there for your sick loved ones as an assault of the hospital. The hospital has great staff.. great nurses and a caring team. And just like any other place of employment there are weak ones.. There are good days.. and there are bad days. At this moment the administration is at it's weakest. If you need to complain.. go to the top. Stop complainig to the peons.. complain to the chiefs.. after all that's who's rules and regulations are being followed.

The emergency was a fantastic when I took my loved one earlier this year. The staff was very professional, all were able to speak our native Spanish as it IS in HIALEAH (let's get real here!). A few months ago I took my loved one and it seemed as though the Emergency room was in another country in asia. Behind were the times when the latin nurses were able to meet our needs in spanish, now they have foreigners from asia who are SLOW, PRETEND they don't speak spanish, seemingly not caring about giving us the family a status of what is going on with our loved ones. I can't say that that those asians are bad or have don't know what they are doing, but its frustrating to hear them speak in their asian language in front of the patient and I KNOW they speak spanish, they just play with the game that they don't understand. Are we as a nation THAT short that we can't bring AMERICANS that can cater to the needs of OUR community that we have to scout out strictly 100% Asians (I think they are Filipinos)??? Hey, nothing wrong with that, but I'm wondering if they are turning that hospital to cater to the .000001% of Filipinos/Asians community in Hialeah? I'm all too curious to see this drastic change in staff? Maybe there is something special that they have? I am not saying that they are negligent by any means, simply curious, plus seems that the morale has plummeted and the latins are now the minority. Too odd. I'm taking my loved one to another hospital where I can communicate and not be left there without knowing what is going on. The only positive side is that I will take myself or my loved on at night where there are some that can speak Spanish. It's Hialeah, not the Asian Pacific Rim!

I am very sorry, but I have reviewed these "Insider pages" reviews about Palm Springs Hospital and most of them are obviously written by unrealistic, ungrateful and those predisposed to complain and I think that those people not only need a reality check but they also need to be more appreciative. For example, the review about the mom's diaper being changed doesn't hold water because the daughter just sat there bitter and never mentioned to the staff on that unit that the mom's diaper needed to be changed. Also, Palmetto Hospital is also a "private" hospital and the reason that a doctor does not go to a certain hospital is not because he is excluded by it. it is because he has chosen not to apply for priviliges there. Furthermore, the other comment about Palm Springs Hospital using that 90 plus year old for her insurance and then letting her die is also very obvious in inconsistancy and bullcrap, really. I personally like Palm Springs Hospital and I feel that it is a great asset to Hialeah and to the community. There is alot of love there at Palm Springs Hospital and the care is actually pretty good and personalized. You winers need to just "chill out" and spend your time doing more valuable things like changing your mom's diapers, etcetera.
In fact, it is VERY obvious here that you would've complained even if your moms and grandmas where admitted to The Mayo Clinic or the best hospital in the world for that matter.Maybe Palms springs is not for you, but Palm Springs Hospitals helps alot of people and their familiies every single day.

The care my mother received this past summer was adequate, but she still was released and admitted to Palmetto General a week later for the same problem. The issue has more to do with her not being able to have her own doctor see her at Palm Springs because it is private, so it was more time consuming and wasteful for her to be there in the first place.
There was however an X-ray technician, Jose DeJesus who should be commended for his sensitivity, professionalism, and genuine concern for the patients there. He was called upstairs on the 6th floor to X-ray my mother from bed, as she was fairly immobile, and there was a woman across the hall screaming, "Help me" for at least 45 minutes that I observed. Maybe nurses or aides had checked on her but that did not seem apparent and she was creating quite the loud and uncomfortable setting for the other patients and visitors. I watched as numerous healthcare professionals walked by without stiopping or even looking in, but when Mr. DeJesus came upstairs weilding his big heavy X-ray machine, he went the extra mile and stepped into her room to speak to her and then tried to get her some help - her diaper needed changing. It was a small but caring gesture in a place that should have "care" as their priority...I just only witnessed it in this singularly exceptional young man.

It was a small but caring gesture in a place that should have "care" as their priority...I just only witnessed it in this singularly exceptional young man.

My father was treated there on an emergency basis and because he had good insurance plus medicare the doctors there "milked" every penny by putting him through unnecesary tests, sedation which caused him to be sleeping all the time which led to dehydration and finally intubation. Dad's primary care physician didn't have privileges at Palm Springs hospital, so he was at the mercy PS doctors. The first day the Attending spoke with my dad's primary care doctor explained that my father had a cardiac problem. The Attending hardly ever showed up to speak with us, never kept us informed and shined for his absence. The only time he showed up was to antagonistically confront mom and I when we finally caught on to the hospital's scheme of milking dad's insurance. When we decided to transfer dad, this pseudo - doctor didn't even have a diagnosis in dad's chart (even after speaking with my dad's primary care physician from day one!) We had to move earth and mountains to get dad's chart in order and to transfer him to a more loving and professional medical facility. Unfortunately dad died three days after being transferred and we know he would have died anyways due to his heart condition, but the unnecesary tests and bad treatment he got at Palm Springs hospital will never be forgotten by my family. This is the worse hospital in the world! It is a shame to the medical profession and the Hyppocratic Oath.

At 92, my mother was a happy, active and clear-minded gal living in an independent living facility. In 1994, her doctor and I talked about hospitalizing her for 2-3 days for a cardiovascular check up, so she could have a hospital file opened, because otherwise she would not be admitted in a nearby nursing facility where she was willing to go. This hospitalization was planned ahead of time and there was no emergency situation at all. The day before getting admitted to the hospital, I took her to dine with me at a local restaurant and we enjoyed our dinner together. The next day, she entered Palm Springs General Hospital in Hialeah walking by herself, talking, and in good spirits. Two weeks and a half later she was a corpse, after the most ridiculous and inappropriate medical treatments, unnecessary tests, and improper decisions of the worst kind. Her death certificate attests that she died from "MALNUTRITION AND DEHYDRATION." And all of this happened inside Palm Springs General Hospital. The story speaks by itself. Recommendation: Don't ever bring an elder with Medicaid and Medicare to this hospital. The family's observations of the patient progress will NEVER be heard or taken into consideration; no one would pay a single shred of attention to what you say or tell to the nurses. All of them are programmed to function like robots and to take automated decisions (based on what the Medicaid and Medicare will pay), which have nothing to do with the patient health or necessities. It is absolutely horrible!!! So don't ever recommend this hospital to anyone, unless it is your worst enemy!

Karen Kurtz is a disgruntled employee and her opinions here should be completely disregarded. She is looking for a lottery and has tried to sue PSGH for the win. So far, no luck, eh Karen?PSGH is a great place to work, there is a real family atmosphere amongst the employees. (usually, until a rogue employee comes along like Karen)

This Hospital really sucks big time, I had my mother there in the 2Nd floor room#225 and she had her pamper with ca-ca over four hours until I had to give a complaint to the nurses and as soon I gave the complaint they called security on me because they don't like to be told to do their job. In Conclusion this hospital Sucks Big Time

yes THE HOSPITAL HAS A OLD STYLE TO IT THAT'S BECAUSE THE OWNER LIKE IT LIKE THAT ITS A PRIVATE HOSPITAL HE DOES W/E HE WANTS YOU DON'T LIKE IT DON'T WINE, AND ITS DOESN'T SMELL FUNNY YOU DO. THE CARE IN THIS HOSPITAL ITS GRATE YOU JUST STARED TO COMPLAINT ABOUT LITTLE STUFF AND PISS OF THE NURSES I WOULD ED ACT THE SAME WAY. THE FOOD IN THE CAFETERIA ITS LIKE NO OTHER FROM OTHER HOSPITALS, THE FLOOR WILL NEVER BE DIRTY AND THE BATH ROOMS WILL ALWAYS BE CLEAN. THE NURSES AND THE DOCTORS ARE GRATE AND CARING PERSONS, YES SOME NURSES WILL SOMETIME TELL JOKES AND STAND AROUND AND GOSSIP A LITTLE BUT I ASSURE YOU SHE/HE HAS GIVEN YOU TREATMENT FIRST, AND WHAT YOU GUYS WANT FOR HIM/HER TO BE NEXT TO YOUR BED GIVING U A BACK RUB OR CLEANING YOUR TOE NAILS BE REALISTIC YOU DO THE SAME AT WORK WHEN YOU KNOW U ARE DOING YOUR JOB. AND IF YOU ARE ONE OF DOES PERSONS WHO THE RESCUE BRING YOUR FAMILY FROM A ALF OR A HOME CARE AND U DEMAND TO SEE YOUR DAD OR MOM WELL IF YOU HA VENT SEEN THEM IN A WEEK WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKES NOW THAT HIS IN THE HOSPITAL? YOU DON'T CARE IN THE FIRST PLACE. SO OVER ALL THIS ITS A GOOD AND NICE HOSPITAL JUST THAT PEOPLE ARE TO HARD HEADED FROM TIME TO TIME AND RATHER COMPLAINT ABOUT LITTLE STUFF THEN TO BE REALISTIC.

I WAS IMPRESSED WITH THE CARE AT PALM SPRINGS GENERAL HOSPITAL.... I CAME IN THRU THE EMERGENCY ROOM AND FOUND THE STAFF TO BE very PROFESSIONAL AND CARING, THE DOCTORS AND THE NURSES WERE VERY ATTENTIVE. WHEN THEY TRANSFERRED ME TO THE FLOORS I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE CLEANLINESS AND THE ATTENTION FROM THE STAFF WHO WERE VERY CARING. THE FOOD WAS EXCELLENT AND MY DOCTOR WAS VERY INFORMATIVE. I AM VERY SURPRISED AT THE NEGATIVE COMMENTS MADE. MY DAD WAS A PATIENT AND MY SISTER AS WELL AS MYSELF ON SEPARATE OCCASSIONS AND WE ALL HAD A GOOD EXPERIENCE.

I was very impressed with the quality of service my fatther received at Palm Springs General Hospital. He was constantly attended to by a very caring staff of nurses and doctors. He is is much better now because of their dedicated work. I was extremely satisfied by the environment; it was unlike any other health care institution I have visited. It has beautifull paintings in the hallways and has world class food in the cafeteria. Everyone I met was thoughtful and compassionate, it felt like MY FATHER AND I WERE PART OF THEIR FAMILY.

I will tell you some stories..My first boyfriend in 1985 died there, had a brain damage and died in that hospital, then a friend of the family died there too because of liver failure. in 2005 my mom had hysterectomy and she got an infection that almost died, and it was because they do no sterilized the instruments correctly. The place smells terrible, the lobby looks like from the 70's. I still don't understand why OSHA department don't go there and make an investigation, they are playing with human lives. I don't get it! :(

Good afternoon, I am so impressed on how we continued to leave and accommodate to an unhealthy ENVIRONMENT. IN REALITY WE (COMMUNITY) HAS ELECTED mayor's FOR NOTHING THAN TO WORRY ABOUT A STUPID AND UNNECESSARY STADIUM. I HOPE THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH DOES SOMETHING ABOUT THIS UNSAFE ENVIRONMENT. BESIDES THE ENVIRONMENT, EMPLOYEES ARE UNPROFESSIONAL, LOW CLASS, THEY SEAT AROUND AND CHEAT CHAT ALL DAY AND CANT ASSIST YOU WITH IMPORTANT SITUATIONS. I INVITE THE CITY OF HIALEAH mayor TO VISIT THIS SO CALLED HOSPITAL AND DOOOOOOOOO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. USE SOME OF THE MONEY THAT WE THE COMMUNITY SPEND IN TAXES OR CLOSED THE HOSPITAL DOWN. THIS WILL AVOID MAJOR CIRCUMSTANCES IN THE FUTURE.... WE THE COMMUNITY PAY TAXES AND ELECT OTHERS TO REPRESENT OUR NEEDS AND OBLIGATIONS. AS mayor OF THE CITY OF HIALEAH NEED TO COME OUT AND DO SOMETHING RIGHT NOW......THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND DISGUSTING.....THE FUTURE DEPENDS ON THE WAY WE LEAVE AND HOW WE DO THINGS.

It is a shame that nurses, doctors and assistants treat patient the way they do. Kevin the head nurse in the ER don't know how to work and he forget that patient are human not a so call furniture or think in the ER. Those people go to the hospital because their are sick not because the want it. I went to that hospital because I was sick and what I found was lazy much and so call nurses and doctors that they prefer sit down that to take care a sick person. Constantly drinking Cuban coffee, talking walking but nothing accomplish. Remind those people that if was not because sick people the don't even have a job. I need help going to the bathroom but Kevin wants that I hold it because he was to busy drinking coffee or talking or filling to paper but no patient to see. Patient screaming about pain, old guy with althermier diseases bleeding from his catheter and no one to help him. Restroom dirty. Was the 7 long hours of my life. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOSPITAL TO ANYONE IS THE WORSE HOSPITAL I HAVE BEEN IN FLORIDA.

I came here a few times once to get my tonsills and adenoids removed then to apply for a job here. When I had my T&A done I was much younger then but don't remember anything bad about the place. Now when I went recently to apply it seems like your walking into a time warp. It is a really old facility like from the 50's that has not modernized its interior at all. Everything seems old and like it's falling apart. Pretty depressing just to walk in there. I can't even imagine having to be admitted! Well anyways inside the whole place just smells funny in a bad sort of way. Can't really put my finger on what the smell is. They need to invest in some remodeling and pinesol or air fresheners. Also have not heard very good things about this place from my nursing collegue's at all. Avoid if possible!

PROS: Proximity if you live nearby.
CONS: Bad rep, Bad smells, Bad interior and exterior.

This hospital leaves a lot to be desired ,it is hungry for money, but also does not follow a national standard in the practice of medicine. It deals with a population that is Ignorant and Sick (nursing home hospitals, hospices) and most of these people cannot complain about the great amount of wrong things that happen there. It has improved only by threat of litigation ..it is a horrible environment for a sick patient..

This hospital is not a very conductive environment to a speedy recovery. From the moment you walk up to the ER window the nurse was very rude. They are in a major hurry to get your insurance provider info...but not in a hurry to get you treatment. I am not alone in this observation, as i have met and spoken to many people about this same issue, and everyone has said the same. Im sure the doctors and nurses are very capable of the medical side of it, however, the billing and admissions dept is horrible.

Palms Springs General Hospital is the worse.\nDo not deserve a star but is a requirement in the review, this hospital is terrible, disgusting attention, both administrative and clinical, gave me tremendous impression, they suck.\n Beginning not even have a decent website, no image, is simple, uncreative, minimal, uninformative, looks old, by God, that is to be in the U.S., that mediocrity. What you have on your website you can be sure that it is the care that we provided on site, VOID.\nDO NOT GO THERE, DO NOT EVER RECOMMEND THEM.\n

This hospital is totally incompetent. My 73 yr old mother went to the ER at 8:30am where she was refused water and food unnecessarily and was sat in a back room waiting for blood work. At 2:30pm they showed up to retake blood because the morning sample was tainted. The ER didn't order the tests she needed and no doctor was available to see her. (the ER doc is useless) At 7:00pm after screaming at them they put her in a room to run an antibiotic IV which she needed. No doctor came to see her and she was not given meds or further treatment during the night. At 10:00am her doctor called from a message the hospital left in her answering machine. I had to take her out of the hospital and run her to a doctor's office to get an order for the ultrasound she needed then run her to a diagnostic center. Her treatment was delayed and the condition worsened. Then they billed for thousands of dollars for meds she never got and a $100 copayment. I went and told the VP that the billing was fraud and the copayment was an insult after the way they mistreated my mother and didn't treat her medical condition. They sent the bill to collection after they told me they would look into the matter and get back to me. THEY NEED TO BE CLOSED DOWN. If you are not critical, don't let rescue take you there. Call a cab and go somewhere else.

I am not th eone always to be writting reviews for any sorts of busineses but this is one that i couldnt stay away from. Recently i was visiting a friend of mine from school who was a patient in this so call hospital. From the time i walked in to the minute i left, i noticed incompetency and lack of care from the lady at the front desk to the security guard who was casually almost half sleep in his guard shack to the doctors and the rest of the staff. i finally found someone who was nice enough to guide me to the right room and then i heard nothing but complaints from my sick friend and his family members. i wouldnt be caught dead in this hospital. one of the worst i can recall compare to even the worst and they consider this to be private!!! shame on the admins and the entire staff and all others who consider themselves to be professional.

Not everyone should get the blame, but Honestly these people have no idea what it is to work for a hospital.... At a recent stay an elderly gentleman was to stay over for a few days, on the following Monday he was to take a test that consisted the elderly man to relocate to a different hospital in the area.. Monday came along the elderly man was transported by amblulance to the different hospital where his treatment was going to be held never did anyone at the hospital (Palm Springs Hospital) informed my grandmother that my grandfather was going to be discharged, my grandmother not knowing left all her belongings there and left with her husband to palmetto hospital. Later on that Monday afternoon I came over to see how my grandfather was doing.. When i got there i walked into his room to find his things bagged up by the assistant nurse I asked around where my grandfather was and I was told he was discharged. How wrongly informed we were.... After everything They happen to also lose my Grandfather's DENTURES... WHAT AN EXPERIENCE... I DONT RECOMMEND THIS HOSPITAL FOR ANY KIND OF STAY... \r\n\r\nP.S. FOOD IN THE CAFETERIA IS GREAT! THOSE ARE THE RUMORS...... LETS KEEP IT THAT WAY !
