My husband and I went to Tillman to look at a vehicle and found one we wanted. I will admit we did have some credit problems. We went on a Saturday and was told they wouldn't here anything from the finance company until Monday. When Monday rolled around and we did not hear anything we called them and was told that our sales person George was out sick that day, which was fine. On Tuesday we still hadn't heard anything so we called back and again George was still out sick. We understood. By Wednesday my husband called and asked to speak to his wife( who works in the finance department) and was told that she was still working on it. That was the last time we ever heard anything. They could have called and tried to work something out because I had someone willing to co-sign or loan me the full amount of the loan. They never gave us that option. I was very disappointed in their customer service because when we were there they treated us very good at the time. So needless to say I was very disappointed at their customer service. I would not recommend them to anyone.

I recently bought a car from Tillman's a week later the ac went out in it completely took it to their auto shop and the mechanic supposedly replaced the compressor and couldn't fix it took it to them 3 times never fixed finally took it another mechanic and the compressor had never been removed and needed to be replaced and they refuse to work with us or do anything about it, I will never use them again they just want to rip you off.

I have never purchased a car from a used car dealer before but I found that that it was fast and easy. I am very happy with my Sonata. The only problem I ran into was that others were interested in the same car while I was there (because of the price) so I had to make a choice faster than Iam used to doing. Very happy with the car and the price.

I found an ad in online autotrader and wrote "the seller" asking for availability of the car. It was a 2006 Cadillac DTS, 37,400 miles, asking $14,990. I also left a voice mail...
Next I rec'd an e-mail from "Allen" supposedly the GM over all the locations who said it was still available and that I could see it any time and he listed the hours. When I called him the next morning to get directions, the story began...
First, "It's on it's way to the downtown location from the west side so one my sales reps will call you when it gets there."

No one ever called so I waited and called them at the downtown location. This man said, "Oh, it arrived with a big 'ol scratch on the hood, so I'm going to send it out to the paint shop and when it gets back tomorrow you can come and look at it." I asked him SIMPLY to look under the trunk lid and to open the doors to see if they were also painted since "Allen" mentioned it was originally a PINK Mary Kay car but that it had been painted "a factory color as all the Cadillacs are that were Mary Kay cars."

The man said he would look and call me right back in a few minutes, but he never did.

Next, because the car appeared to be priced below private seller and dealer retail prices, I called Allen again and POLITELY asked if there was any kind of a call back list I could get on or perhaps pay a good faith deposit. What was I thinking being honest with these people???

I logged in to Auto Trader AND Tillman's website and the price had been raised to $16,990!!! When I asked Allen about it he said, "Yeah, I raised the price TO DISCOURAGE CALLS on that car until we get it fixed." He didn't say "painted."

Now, still being stupidly naive and wanting to do business with these clowns, I said, "Would you just please call me when the car gets back so we can come and see it?" He responded, "I can't sell you a car I don't have! You'll have to wait until Friday because we WILL NOT make exceptions and I've had other calls on the car SINCE YOU FIRST CALLED." Did you catch that? Calls AFTER my inquiry! Keep that in mind...

I finally caught on and again, politely said, "Oh, I get it. You raised the price, someone called, and now you don't WANT to sell me the car, of course!" He tried to back pedal and said, "That is NOT the case and AGAIN, We WILL NOT sell a car that is not physically here on the lot... besides it has to go to the dealership for some broken interior molding parts and I don't know how long that'll take but we WILL NOT SELL A CAR THAT ISN'T HERE."

Thanks for baring with me because here is the punchline...

I got home today and had a message on my answering machine that went like this...
"Hello Mrs _______ this is _______ with Tillman Auto sales downtown. Ugh, I'm sorry, but uh- (cleared throat), um, one of my other sales reps sold that Cadillac your were interested in before it even made it back here from the paint shop but I'll call you whenever we get in another one."

BUT THEY DON'T SELL CARS THAT AREN'T PHYSICALLY ON THE LOT!

So, the next time you go out to buy anything from a sofa to a TV or in this case a car... just hope that once you SEE the printed price in papers, on TV, on the internet and then they confirm that price... they then don't change their minds, increase it a few thousand dollars and then... sell it to someone else right there in your face!

CROOKS! What was I thinking? They're USED CAR SALESMEN! RUN! RUN AWAY! :-)

The land owner is a red neck who shouldn't be in this business. He wanted to fight me just because I was trying to bargain with his rude salesman. I??m with the special ops and I??ve seen more chaos and combat hostilities than this red neck can possibly imagine, but I decided just to leave because It ??s not worth my time. Don't buy from these guys; they don't have any respect for military service members who keep America safe. They have no etiquette, very rude, and uneducated and only care for their profit.

I researched car prices within a 200 mile radius and found Tillmans to have the best price. I sent an email to the internet manager, Allen late Saturday night. I had a reply on Sunday. I spoke to him on Monday and he said he would have a sales rep call me. Ken called me the same day and went over the car with me in detail. Ken and I spoke several times for the next three days. He was more than willing to answer my questions and was always friendly and above board. A straight non pressure no nonsense sales approach. My husband and I drove there Wednesday night and the car was everything he said and then some. We purchased the car and the paperwork was done in less than twenty minutes. Kudos to the gentleman who processed our transaction. I highly recommend them and by far it was the best car buying experience I have had in thirty years! Note: The internet price is the bottom price for the car-no negotiating from this price and no negotiating the dealer fee.

I did a trade in 08 Dodge Avenger having it less than a month I heard an odd noise took it in to be checked out it turns out that it needs a whole new engine at only 15444 miles on it. I called Ed Tillman manager asked for them to at least pay for a rental they said not they said they would let me take one of their cars off their lot I said not I want a rental and don't trust them finally I said I?d take the car of their lot but only the car I traded in for a rental they said they sold it and won't give me a car off their lot now and would not pay for a rental till I said I was going to call the local news station and let them know how Ed Tillman Auto motive treats military service members. I would not recommend them. Once they get your money they don't want to have anything to do with you. my car has been in the shop since the 9/5/2008 for these repairs bad place to deal with.

I love the little truck they sold me.....mr tillman told me to call him personally if i ever had any problems and told my friend the same.....thanks again katherine n.

mr ed tillman started selling my family cars in 1962.we are on our fourth car. mr tillman sold us this last car for our grandson. his two sons steve and stan run the business now .the boys have been in the business since they could hold a garden hose to wash the cars off.we bought this last one at the beach blvd. store. randy caldwell the manager helped us with the financing and we got a great intrest rate and a great deal. we were able to buy the extended warranty because we got such a good deal on the car. the car needed a battery 3 weeks after we bought it and randy sent his tech. to our home to install one at no charge. thanks leonard and betty J.

they had a large selection of trucks to choose from. was looking for a quad cab truck and they had two that i really liked and was hard to make a choice so ended up buying the chevy avalanche for the size. had a great saleman too deal with and he also called a couple of days later to make sure i was a happy customer. very pleased hope to deal with again..

went to tillman auto after going to 3 other dealers to trade my car . was told by the 3 other dealers i had too much negative equity and could not help me. after talking with the manager at the main street location he gave me several options and was willing to work with me and not just say no. i now have the car i like and am very pleased with it and the way they helped me out.

Have been in the market for a Sport Trac for weeks for a Christmas gift for my son. Finally found what I thought was a GREAT deal and put a $500.00 deposit on it .Because I live 6 hours away I could not make it up there until the weekend to give cash for the rest of the amount due. When my husband called Friday morning to confirm us coming up there and which location to pick up the car, not only did the man that took our deposit not work there anymore but they said the deal fell threw at the other end? The so-called manager took about an hour to get back to my husband. Well, as an educated person looking at the pictures that they posted, it was completely detailed with inventory/sale stickers on it and ready to go. They obviously possessed and inspected this truck long enough to fill out and post the ?Warranty / As Is ? No Warranty? sheet. Please, would a half intelligent dealership do all this with a deal they thought would not go through? Sounds like to me they sold the car right out from under us! So, like any upset individual I called the dealership posing as a local showing interest in this vehicle and was told that an interested party had looked at it last night and came back this morning to purchase it! BUSTED! So with a little chuckle I demanded to talk to the manager, the one that helped 48 hours earlier in taking my deposit? I was told that the deal on the other end fell through because the individual that traded it in could not get the financing on their new vehicle. So, with my deposit securely in their bank account, an apparent buyers order with my name on it and an appointment for a Saturday morning delivery... When was the sharp staff at Tillman auto going to inform me that the vehicle was sold? After my SIX HOUR TRIP? I guess Tillman auto finds that business philosophy acceptable. So, word to the wise, there are many dealerships in the Jacksonville area that go by a better and more honest business practice than Tillman Auto sales.
