wanted to get some larger tires for my 2010 jeep wrangler. As the tires I wanted were mud terrians, I was told I'd save money buy getting tires on my own and bringing them in for mount. This saved me money. I made appt and tires were mounted and allignment was done. Corrected the EPS light I was getting from jeep being out of allignment from recent lift I had done myself. Just as lift manufacturer had said. This palce is great and will be doing my routine service here too. Thanks.

This was my first visit to Hummel and I was very impressed. Unlike other shops I have called or done business with the personel at Hummel were polite, did not act as if they were in a hurry for you to explain the problem, and were able to service my car quickly.

Their waiting room and restroom is clean, which means a lot to women, so if you had to wait you would feel comfortable. Everyone I came in contact with was friendly. I left the car and waited for someone to call me later.

Christine, one of the owners, called to explain what they found
( which another un-named shop could not find) and then explained in detail what was needed to fix it. They do not make you feel stupid if you aren't sure of the terminology and I felt fine asking questions if need be. My car no longer has the whining noise when I drive( thank goodness for quit driving).

After going to dealerships for my Sebring (always an unpleasent experience) other shops ( slightly less of an unpleasent experience) I have finally found my saving grace; Hummel Tire & Auto. I will advise all my friends, family and anyone else to bring there cars here for service. It does make a difference when women run a company.

I can't believe what a difference it makes. I am 65 yrs old and a widow. I have been dreading having to take my car in for an oil change. I just knew I was going to be taken advantage of without my husand here. When I took my car in they showed me the manufacturer maintenance schedule that was due and then didn't do all of the recommedations because some things were still like new.
I was recommended to go there by my neighbor. I am so greatful!

Christine and Jessica literally saved my life! I went to them on 10/02/10 to have them diagnose what sounded to me like my tires were truck rather than passenger vehicle tires - sort of a roaring. To my shock, especially after having just returned from a 1500 mile trip, they told me that I could not drive my car at all because the bearings (sealed) were like gravel and my right wheel assembly could actually fly off! No replacement part could be found anywhere (not even the dealership), so the part had to be ordered and I had to rent a car. I was thankful that I was alive, but a bit rattled, so Christine called around to find me a rental car. The only one available that Saturday morning was at Clw/St. Pete Airport, so Jessica drove me over there and waited outside the door to make sure that all was well before she drove off. They fixed my car on Monday when the part came in, called me and I returned my rental to the airport. Jessica picked me up at the airport and took me back to Hummel where my
"healed" car was waiting for me. Even though retrieving me made them late closing up, they made me feel like it was no problem at all. Hummel will ALWAYS be my go-to place for anything wrong with my car and I will recommend them to anyone who wants to know who to go to for extremely knowledgeable, competent, fair, excellent service! I was so excited to get a referral to Hummels! Those gals are great! I thought my friend was over stating their customer service. She was right. I've never been in a repair shop and been treated so well. I felt like I really mattered to them. I was treated very respectfully like they appreciated me.

2/19/10 My husband and I have taken our Kia vehicles to Hummel and have received excellent service. They are friendly, professional, personable and they take the time to explain things to you. They changed my tire at work for a nominal charge and also replaced my battery at my home for a nominal charge. I priced their work out elsewhere and found their prices are fair and good. I will continue to do business with them and hope you consider them also.

As a female I always found it hard to find an honest auto shop. I was always being told things were wrong, when I knew they were not. Shops were always trying to scam me. Hummel tire is NOT that type of shop. They are honest, thorough, reliable. The staff is friendly, they go out of their way to explain what is wrong the vehicle. I have always been taken on time!

This is a great place to take your vehicle for repair and maintenance. The staff is great! very friendly. It's hard to find an honest garage, this is an honest garage. They do repairs that are necessary and do not try to rip you off like some places do. I highly recommend them!

I found Hummel Tire when looking for a well reviewed local mechanic. First, we took my wife' Acura in for its 90,000 checkup. My wife was very happy with the service and honesty. Because of my wife's experience we took mine in for an premium oil change which was 1/2 of what I was paying for with the quickie oil change places. I also felt Christine & Jessica were honest and gave a good value. I had to take my car in later for a coolant leak which was covered under an extended warranty, in which my extended warranty company made myself and Hummel Tire jump through hoops to get covered. Christine was patient and thorough in helping get it paid for. We are now moving across country and I am bringing my car in one more time to have it checked out before we leave on a 3000+ mile trip. I trust Christine, Jessica and Hummel tire to really check the car out, be honest and quote me a good price if anything is needed. I've read some of the previous posts and had to write regarding my and my wife's experiences with Hummel tire before we leave. As an aside this is not a forum for a disgruntled realtor to make complaints about a business when the complaint is not related to that business.

Okay, when I found out Stuart sold the business, I was scared. I have taken my car to Hummel for years (I have an '87). I called and spoke to the owner, Christine. She informed me that Stuart's staff stayed, they have all of my car's records, and everything was the same (only Stuart was gone). Christine seemed to know what she was talking about, so I took my car in last week. I am glad I went. Christine made me feel at home, comfortable with giving her the keys to my baby, and everything was explained to me. She took her time with me. In my opinion, Hummel is better now than when Stuart owned it. THANK YOU!

Throughout my lifetime I've dealt with car repairs as if they were a foreign language. Stuart Hummel became my patron saint years ago, when he not only fixed my problems, but did it inexpensively and quickly. Upon learning the shop had been sold, I could have been devastated. Instead, I found the new owners to be equally customer-oriented, and considerably knowledgable. Due to it's age, my '91 Corolla has required maintenance and repair. Each and every time I take it to Hummel Tire & Auto, I learn more about the car, and the problems are resolved, quickly and for as little money as possible. The owners take the time to explain the problem, offer suggestions and assistance in avoiding subsequent problems. They are pro-active and thorough. Not many other places would pick up or deliver, and none that I know of, really care about ensuring your car is not only repaired but safe and properly maintained. If you haven't checked out the new owners' credentials, you really should. They are highly qualified, skilled, and moreover, when your vehicle is returned to you the owners themselves have double checked to be sure it's repaired properly, and will stand by their work. The key is listening to the experts! I recommend Hummel Tire and Auto to all my friends, without reservation. They really go above and beyond the call of duty, and I'm grateful.

I took my car in on Saturday because the brakes were feeling mushy. Even though they appeared to be very busy, the folks at Hummel were able to replace the brake pads and change my oil that day for a very reasonable price. I will definitely use them again.

I Took my car into Hummels for their inexpensive oil change service and received wonderful service.
Their staff was very professional and informative. They showed me a few things that my car was in need of now and the things that could wait until my next service or will be in need of replacement shortly there after. I can't think of any repair shop that treated me as well as they did or has displayed such a sense of pride in their work.
They have a comfortable and CLEAN waiting room: flat screen TV, fresh coffee, magazines, clean bathroom.
I will go back again and will recommend their shop to my family and friends.

I didn't have a lot of money so I just took the estimate and went home and cried. The next day I was speaking to a co-worker who recommended Hummels for repairs. I took it there and they agreed that my car needed a lot of work but they actually took the time the show me the problems, explain what they do and why the repair was needed, then they catagorized them in the order of importance and helped me to work on the repairs over a period of time. The price was cheaper too.
I recommend Hummels to every one I can - They made me feel comfortable and spoke to me like a person and not like an idiot because I know nothing about cars.

I took my car here because of the write-ups about Stuart, integrity and customer service. I am a 56 yr old businessman, have a 2000 Cadillac Deville with about 105k miles. A/C worked fine, blowing strong and cold and then one morning it wouldn??t blow any air, neither would heater. I know little about cars but was hoping it was some inline fuse. Hummel told me it was the fan blower (about $500). Fixed it, but within days, it was blowing warm air. Hummel said it was totally coincidental to the fact that they just worked on A/C and now it was the compressor (about another $1,100) (If you don't think this is a strange coincidence see NOT FIXED YET review from someone else below). Fixed it and within 2 weeks it was blowing hot air again. Told Hummel I was not paying any more and wanted it fixed. They said the compressor they put in went bad and so they put in another. Got in and it would only blow out the defrost and not the center vents. They blamed us for ??playing with the controls? (we didn??t) and I asked to speak to the owner. Woman said ??quote: (you are looking at her)? (not Stuart) and then another woman came charging out of the garage to rescue the ??owner? and said ??quote:(you brought it in because it wasn??t blowing cold air. It??s blowing cold air now. Job done.)?

So I say all that to tell you to watch out for the following:
1.They are very good at telling you over and over that their work is guaranteed but then finding a reason why your next problem is a different issue.
2.They have many, many excuses why nothing is ever their fault
3.You are likely to find that even if they fix everything you bring your vehicle in for, it will all of a sudden start having more things go wrong with it
4.Either the Stuart written about in the other testimonies here is not the owner anymore or not active in the business OR the woman lied to me about her being the owner.
5.Many details left out, like number of visits needed, attitude of people, etc
6.If you are still considering taking your vehicle here; then you deserve to, because they are looking for gullible people like you
7.Looking for a positive note? They get your vehicle back to you quickly

Just a fact to consider: When I lived in another state, took a car to the dealership for repairs and kept having more new problems. Took it to a reputable service center next and the mechanic showed me where it was deliberately sabotaged to cause another part to break to create additional work for the dealership. He told me he had seen this behavior before. So keep this in mind.

P.S. 9-26-08 It is now three days since I got my car back and wrote the post above. Today, my "Service Engine" light came on. Just another coincidence?

I have been taking all of my cars to Stuart for the last 6 years, and have had nothing but great service and excellent results. Never have I had anything but honesty in my dealings with Stuart and his staff and don't plan on changing who I bring my cars to....why change a good thing.

I have been taking all of my cars to Stuart for the last 6 years, and have had nothing but great service and excellent results. Never have I had anything but honesty in my dealings with Stuart and his staff and don't plan on changing who I bring my cars to....why change a good thing.

Stuart was recommended by two people whom I trust implicitly. When I brought my '93 Honda Civic Del Sol in for service it wouldn't even start. Stuart had it for one day and had gone front to back and found the problem. What impressed me the most was that he will explain, in as much detail as you desire, exactly what the problem was and educate on how things actually work. I was so impressed I had him go through my vehicle completely and it now runs almost as if it were new. To offer perspective, my automobile has 180K miles on it and I plan on taking it to Stuart until it stops running completely.

All my cars now go to Stuart and I highly recommend him to all my friends and family.

Stuart Hummel always does a good job of fixing my car! I wouldn't go anywhere else. I'm usually afraid of people who wear beards, but Stuart keeps his trimmed so nicely! I think it's the beard that gives him the power to fix cars so well--kind of like how Chuck Norris is so good at karate because of his beard! Great prices, great service--That's Hummell Tire and Auto!
