This morning I brought Ms. Betty the traveling gypsy cat to Animal Aid to be put to sleep. Ms. Betty was one of only two cats in the world to have membership in the vintage camper club. Her carrier was marked with a plaque and her travel trailer was modified with a cat bathroom. Betty loved bicycle rides and sat on the handlebars in a special basket. Betty was once owned by people who didn't want her anymore and were going to put her down five years ago. Then I saw her pic with rips in her ears, missing teeth, bow legs and learned she couldn't meow. I took her home that day and Betty slept by my side at night and in a window sill all the day for five years.. when she lost interest in everything and stopped drinking water and losing her litter box I knew at her old age she was suffering. I call AA the day before and got a price to put her to sleep. Betty and I stayed up all night while I held her through several heart attacks and pain with her kidneys shutting down. At ten we arrived and filled out the intake packet and were quickly taken into an exam room where we waited. When the tech entered he explained what would happen noting "it would be almost instant" Then he attempted the injection with two different needles, I could see them moving under Betty's skin. i asked what she was feeling and he said nothing however that was untrue i could see the fear in her eyes. tech then said he would take her in the back, shave her leg and insert a cath at which i said "NO'' he told me he was "quite good at this" using a snide attitude. He left the room and i mentioned to the another tech Kyli that the young man had a poor attitude. i wanted to express ms Betty's fear for her and go to another vet but i remained calm and focused on rubbing Betty's face and chest. Kyli then left the room and returned with Robert a soft spoken gentlemen with kind eyes and a heart for animals and their caretakers. Robert apologized for what we'd been through so far and very quickly one needle was injected and my girls heart stopped beating. ROBERT an KYLI were sent to transition betty with dignity. They are angels and an asset to Animal Aid. KYLI gave me hug outside which gave me the strength to dig betty's grave when we got home. I thank you both sincerely, Lauren Mahon

I made the unfortunate decision to bring my rescue puppy here. After waiting for a ridiculously long time, the staff was nothing short of rude and unprofessional. Picking up my puppy, she was still heavily sedated. So much so that she had to be carried to the car. They offered no post-op instructions, and inspecting her stitches afterwards showed the were sloppily done. Only a few days after the procedure her stitches became severely infected and developed vaginitis. The last several days have been terrible for both of us.

I AM SO THANKFUL ANIMAL AID IS NOT THE ONLY VET PLACE IN TALLAHASSEE.

We decided to have my dog's teeth cleaned at Animal Aid because our vet was charging a very high price and we heard that Animal Aid could do it cheaper. We were quoted prices for the procedures and told what we needed to do. However, on the day we brought him in for his blood work, we were told we had to leave him for the day and we couldn't pick him up before 4:30. No one told us he would have to stay the day??? When we came to pick him up, we had over an hour wait to get him. I can only conclude that they hadn't done a thing with him until we got there and then had to rush getting him taken care of. We were told the entire cost of the teeth cleaning would be $150/$160, but when we were checking out, the cost was $122.50 and they asked if we wanted antibiotics. Why would you ask that? Shouldn't that be a given with the procedure and already included in the price? The little curly blonde hair girl who was helping us came back up to give us a price and quoted $22, then stated that her shift was over and she was leaving and someone else would finish us up. Really!?!? After waiting over 15 minutes, we finally had to ask someone to help us and then the new person checked us out. She forgot to add the price of the meds and told us she would have to do a separate charge out and the meds would be $43. We told her that is was supposed to be $22 and she just looked at the paper and said, no here it says $43. We paid for it because we were just ready to go. When we get home, I realize they've given us 2 weeks?? worth of meds instead of only 1 week, which is all our dog needed. Of course, they don't take back meds and now we are stuck with medication we probably won't ever use. That's a nice scam going on there. Wouldn't you think the "Vet" would know how much medication to dispense?? Against our "gut feeling", we decided we'd proceed with the teeth cleaning because we had already paid so much money and had the pre-op procedures done. We picked our dog up yesterday and he could barely walk, he was so out of it, there is no way that he had enough time to wake up from his procedure. My husband had to carry him to the car. This means that his procedure was just done within a hour of us picking him and he'd been there since 8am that morning! No after care instruction were given until we asked for them. Of course, we were told it'd be $60 that day, but there were extra charges added again. My husband made a big deal and said we were told it would only be $60 and we were not paying anything more. They had to take hit with that. A lady came in behind my husband and she had the same conversation because they had charged her extra as well. Seems to be a theme with this clinic. No one in the office seems caring or compassionate for animals. They don't have good customer service or organization. I'm not asking for 5-star treatment, but I think my dog deserves no less than some simple courtesy no matter how busy you are! I don't think it's wrong to desire that everyone who works in an animal clinic to treat your dog as you would treat them at home. A lot of the front desk people may have been there a long time, but I believe they've lost their passion for saving animals and giving good clinical care to their cause. Seems that they view their work as a "job" and not as a calling. I'll never use their services ever again and will let every person I know to not take their animals to them as well! You really do get what you pay for and in actuality, we paid almost as much at the Animal Clinic as we would've at our Vet with all the extras they threw in and scammed us out of. Lesson learned for sure!!

AWFUL. We got a "voucher" from the bainbridge animal shelter (which was stupid because it was my own money anyways) for this place. HORRIBLE. They didn't give me any pre op instructions but luckily I knew what to do from experience. The thing I found most appalling is that they charge EXTRA and give you the OPTION of paying for a safer procedure. I'm not even kidding. Pre-op blood work and an IV (seriously?) are extra. Of course we opted for both but seriously? What kind of place charges extra for things that should be mandatory? And then picking her up was a huge hassle because for some reason it took them 45 minutes to walk her from the kennel to the front. TERRIBLE, DISORGANIZED, UNSAFE. Calling Bainbridge to give them a piece of my mind as well. If you're that cheap you shouldn't own a pet.

I think this is a great place. My parents used this animal hospital every since I could remember and when I received my first dog I used them too. They are very kind and will help you with any problem you have with your pet. Being a college student and tight on cash they helped me get medicines at good prices that my dog needed. The only thing that I didn??t like was the long wait, but that just shows me that I??m not the only one that knows how good clinic is and how good their prices are. I recommend this clinic to everyone with pets it??s the best.

We have had two dogs neutered at Animal Aid, and have been very happy with our service each time. Drop off and pick up has never taken more than ten or fifteen minutes, and our walk-ins to have stitches removed have taken less than that even. They're very good with our dogs - even our hyper husky - and incredibly reasonable on price. We'll continue to use them for yearly exams and recommend them to people we know with pets.

I would suggest that those who use Animal Aid keep in mind that they are low cost for a reason. They keep their OWN costs down as well. If you want to take your dog somewhere fancier, that's fine. There are a ton of vets here in Tallahassee. This place provides efficient, basic care. Don't expect white gloves and valet parking.

I do think it is great place with a needed service. But also think they need to schedule appointments for certain things to eliminate long waits ad maybe do some re-organizing to get a bit more control over the chaos. For me, simply picking up my dog took over an hour .. but I will give to their service anyday!

I had to put my 16 year old cat to sleep this week. She was in Renal Failure and very sick. Jo and Tara were the sweetest most kind peole to go through this with. Ive been through this before and no other clinic has ever been so kind and understanding. They took there time, explained what would happen and what to expect. There was no wait. As soon as they knew what I was there for they took me right back. Thank you Animal Aid for everything!

geez people... like every other buisness, they have their good days and bad days, their good points and bad points. but when i decided to get my first rabbit spayed i had called a couple other places in tally (not many deal with rabbits i guess) and they wanted between $100 and $170 bucks FOR ONE. well i called Animal Aid and they only wanted $41 (regular price), so of course i took her there. i also got 2 other rabbits and had them spayed there too. dropped them off in the morning and picked them up in the afternoon (with all of them), and they actually took the time to answer all my questions. all of my rabbits came back calm, but normal:) it was a good deal either way you look at it :D i guess it just depends on your own experiences.

I'm not sure about everyday care; we found them too late. Having to put down 3 dogs in 18 months, we've had 3 very different experiences. These people are the best. Our vet of 6 years made it a long, drawn out procedure and then charged $180. It felt gouged. A year later, we took our second dog to the animal shelter. Although they were very kind, efficient and inexpensive, we were not prepared for having to 'leave' the dog with them and not be with her at the end. It was hard leaving our 15 year old pet, but we felt comfortable they cared and did not know where else to turn. Their fee was $25.00.Last month, our third lab at 15 also needed to be put down. Our 'vet' of over six years was stingy with pain meds because they might hurt him, and always wanted to do loads of tests, . Each visit was $100.00 plus.We took him to Animal Aid at the recommendation of a friend. Wow! Even though this place was busy, they were also kind, efficient and professional. They honored our decisions, allowed us 'alone' time to say good bye; did not rush us and requested $25.00 donation; same as Animal shelter.
We have no more pets, but if we did, we would drive the extra distance just because they obviously care.

I went for boarding, grooming and annual. the experience was not great. The payment for the service I received was great however, they did not groom my dog and he was there for 4 days and they requested that I bring back fecal. I would not recommend them and will not be returning. Make sure that you research a facility before using them.

You get what you pay for here. I think most people here are fairly caring, but the attention you will receive isn't as much as less busy places. So I don't recommend this place if you have a fairly serious problem to take care of. We did this and regretted it, and took our cat somewhere where we know we can spend a longer amount of time. But if you want to save some money and are prepared to wait, do choose them for routine checkups. Most people there are polite and helpful, but just like you and I, they can get busy and seem less caring when patients pile up. The cat I got as a child was spayed at this clinic 17 years ago. This last winter she started not doing so well and we had to start giving her subcutaneous fluids. One of the young ladies working at this clinic (Not a vet) did take a bit of time to help us learn the procedure and made sure we understood, and I greatly appreciated it. I am not sure if we'll take her back to this clinic, but I am grateful for the years of care they've given my kitty.

Yes you may find dog pee on the floor at any given time you are there - as you might at ANY vetrinarian's office. I have seen pee and poop on the floor at an expensive vet in town. The expensive place in the past has also at times seemed flippant and not to care so much and even charged a lot for x-rays only to say they hadn't a clue what was wrong. And I've had good experiences there too. You find at Animal Aid though some people who have worked there for over 20 years. And just look at the conditions! It's not glamourous to say the least. They really do care about what they are doing. You don't see them sitting around chatting about personal things. They are overworked for sure, but they have to be. People and their pets needing assistance is a non-stop business. They can't be getting rich. They really DO care. My dog gets kennel cough no matter where he stays - and he's had it the 'worst' from the expensive place! And it always goes away on its own. No place is perfect. Now you know - you have to wait. So plan for that. You love your pet right? So you have to spend a little time at the doctor when your baby's sick. You'd do it for yourself or for your human kids wouldn't you? Give these people a break. I think they are angels on earth for working here.

I had to come to central Florida for a few weeks and brought my dogs along. I left Tallahassee in a rush and left heart worm medication at home. I called the clinic, paid for the new medication over the phone, and had it the second day after I called. No reduced cost animal clinics where I was. If your pet gets sick and you don't have the money for a full price Vet or pet insurance...tough luck!

I was very worried about taking my kitten there to get him neutered because he used to be very sick when he was younger, but I'm a college student so I can't afford to take him to a regular Vet. I've read some of the other reviews and I'm not sure where you guys went, but I had the best experience at the Animal Aid Spay & Neuter Clinic. I dropped my cat off at 8 am and picked him up at 4 pm. I was in and out in 15 minutes each time. The staff was very nice and informative and my cat is healthy. They did all of his vaccines and neutered him in one day for a very low price. I'd recommend them to anyone!

Although I can afford to take my animals to a regular vet, I take them to this clinic to provide support by paying the regular fee. This clinic provides reduced cost animal care depending on what the person can afford. So you have to wait for a while. Isn't your pet worth a couple of hours? God Bless these people.

This clinic provides reduced cost animal care depending on what the person can afford. So you have to wait for a while. Isn't your pet worth a couple of hours? God Bless these people.

omg.. kennel cough is a common cough that dogs get in pretty much ANY clinic. it's not just this one. this clinic saved my dogs life. you need to do some research on stuff before you go writing bad reviews.

I took my male dog there to be nutered back in june of 08 and everything went well. on july 17th i took my female there and got her spayed. well on the 27th they both started coughing. i knew right away it was kennel cough, so the following day i took them back to be treated, my all the vet did was tell me my female was very hiper and needed obediance school, and listened to the males heart. this is after i had to sit outside for 2 hours, and wait in a room for about 30 min. so if you went there around this time your dog is probally sick. i plan to call the humane socity, and the state office that regulates them and file a complaint on them.when i took them on the 28th the room had pee on the floor from another animal, and was very un sanitary.my email is dawilliams03@hotmail.com if you have any questions

My first visit to the facility went well. The vet was friendly and caring. Then I brought my dog in for neutering and he ended up with kennel cough so I had to bring him back for treatment. The vet I saw that time was horrible. She didn't look at or touch my dog. It seemed as if she was bothered to even be in the same room as him. She was in and out in a flash and explained nothing to me. I was sent home with antibiotics and pain meds. I gave my dog the meds as prescribed...my dog became terribly ill after recieving them....so ill we thought he wouldn't make it through the night. Here to find out Animal Aid dispensed the wrong dose of pain medication. Mydog was prescribed more then double the dose for a dog his size. We will never return to or recommend this facility. We have returned to our original vet office. The small savings is not worth it.

Through my life I had a lot of pets and trusted them to this institution. My overall experience has been excellent. Practicing health care whether for animals or people is difficult and it is never an exact science. If you ask 5 separate competitive professionals about a case it is very unlikely you will get the same exact answer. What I like most about the people here is what sometimes lacks in some other environments, which is a truly personal caring attitude for the animals. In my experience when you are in tune with the things you are trying to heal the diagnosis ususally tends to be better. Never have had a mistake with this facility. If you properly communicate the problem and follow their instructions your pet will come out just fine.

Yes this is one of the cheapest vets office around. But if you have a good part of your day to waste there its not worth it. You spend litterly hours in the lobby and only minutes actually with the vet. I would much rather pay more at another vets office then go there again.

Although the wait is very long, this is a good establishment and I trust these people with my two most loyal companions. I adopted a female shepard mix from the shelter and within thre weeks of the adoption found out she was pregnant. The vet here felt so bad for how dirty the shelter did me and how they would accept no responsibilty for my dog being within a week of having her litter that they brought in a special surgeon for her spaying/ abortion, did not charge for the office visit, and gave extra special attention to my little girl. I know that everyone says that this place is cheap but too long to wait for, I feel that this place is worth it in every way. Here you can really tell that the people truly care for the animals though they are incredibly understaffed for the amount that they care for evey day. Sure beats another facility in Tallahassee which told me that if I had to ask how much the "puppy issue" would be I had no business having an animal and should return her to the shelter! Believe me, animal aid is worth it!

This place is the cheapest around. However, that by no means makes it the best. I spent 2 hours there waiting for my puppy to be seen. After they checked him out, I had to wait another 50 minutes before I could pay because the line was so long. Bottom line is that they are cheap but if you consider the value of your time that you spend wasting to be seen it about equals out to the rest of the clinics in town. By the way, they do have a drop off time frame for your dogs but I am funny about leaving my animals with other people that they are not familiar with.

PROS: cheapest in town
CONS: LONG wait,

Clean facilities, friendly staff and low prices make this a great place to bring your pet...but bring a book with you while you're in the lobby, because you're going to need it! From what I can see, the average wait time is at least 25 minutes. A small price to pay, I'd say.

We took one of my dogs here for nuetering. Animal Aid and Spay Neuter Center did an excellent job. They took care of my dog when doing the procedure and my dog healed very easily. I would definately recommend this establishment.

You can tell this place is the cheapest in town because it is always busy. You cannot wait with you animal you have to drop them off and pick up later and even then you will be there at least a half our each time. They do a good job but might not be worth the money saved to have to sit in the waiting room for so long.

When we adopted a stary dog, I took him to Animal Aid first to make sure he wasn't sick or hurt. I arrived there and had to wait in a very crowded waiting room for about an hour, until someone called me name to be next. So I went into the back room with my dog and the vet literally looked him over for 2 seconds, and asked if he needed vacination shots. I explained to her that he was a stray and I wasn't sure exactly what he needed or if he had heart worms, etc. She said OK and told the vet tech to give him the shots. When I went to check out, the lady behind the desk asked if I needed flea medication or heart worm medication. I told her that the dog was a stray and yes, I would probably need those things. So then she looked in the system and asked if the dog had a heart worm test. I told her I thought they did one, she looked again and said that he had not had one and took him in the back to get a test. It took an additional 15 - 20 minutes before they came back out and told me he was healthy. Now, why wouldn't they have done one when I had meantioned it directly to the vet and also to the vet tech that he was a stray so I wanted all the tests run on him? It just shows that they place doesn't cahrge much, but you don't get much in return.

I've taken both of my cats to this facility. Each time the staff at the center is highly knowledgeable and super nice. I feel very good about leaving my animals in their care. There is a wait to drop your animal off, but I think it is worth it.

I've bring my dogs to Animal Aid. They allow walk-ins and since they are a non-profit organization, they are reasonably priced. The only major gripe is that they are always SUPER busy it seems. I have waited for +20 minutes just to drop off my dog for grooming.

PROS: Prices
CONS: Wait
