I grew up in Nashville, about 45 minutes from the birthplace of Cracker Barrel in Lebanon, TN. In that neck of the woods, the Cracker Barrel is a weekly dining outing. People savor country cooking and are always looking for a good 'meat and two' or 'meat and three.'

Cracker Barrel delivers consistently good country cookin' time after time. You always know what you'll get from New York to Florida--a quaint country store (with some interesting goodies in there) and an ole' time restaurant with a wood-burning fireplace and vintage decor on the walls.

Honestly, I've never had anything I didn't like there. And after 20-30 years of eating there, I've tried quite a bit. My favorites are blackberry cobbler, Uncle Hershel's breakfast, grilled chicken dinner ("Country Dinner Plate"), macaroni and cheese, biscuits with blackberry preserves and their soups. I will say that they also make a mean steak and 'taters, as they call it.

On with the Seffner location...

The Seffner Cracker Barrel is actually nestled in the Lazy Days campground and RV sales area. So, as you might imagine, during snow bird season, it's packed. Actually, all year 'round, it's pretty packed. Tips for eating there? Eat late! You'll miss the early-to-bed crowd. Eat during the week. Eat there for lunch.

I admit I should have known that a family consisting of a few vegetarians should probably not eat at Cracker Barrell. While we were greeted promptly and somewhat politely and were seated at a table within 10 minutes, we were given only breakfast menus at 6pm. That aside, a Cracker Barrell is always a Cracker Barrell. Meat in the beans, meat in the greens, meat in the hashbrowns, meat in the HOUSE SALAD?? I ordered a house salad, baked potato and veggie soup. The menu description of the house salad said nothing of bacon, but it was loaded with bacon when it came to me. The veggie soup was supposed to be veggie soup, not veggie soup with a big hunk of beef at the bottom. At least the potato and butter were meat-free. My children adore Cracker Barrell, which is why we will continue to eat there, but how about just one vegetarian option? Can you at least keep a box of garden burgers in the back to microwave when someone like me comes along?

PROS: meat, meat and more meat!
CONS: meat, meat and more meat!

A visit to the Cracker Barrel is like taking a trip back in time. It is a combination old country store and restaurant. You will find lots of interesting gift items, some of which you will want to keep. They have an old fashioned candy section that is delightful. Gift prices are reasonable. The restaurant serves good comforting food. Everyone can find something they love.

The chain has just gotten too big. Plan on spending at least an 90 minutes. Service is slow, portions have shrunk and it is almost never served hot anymore. Was always my wife's favorite on the road, not anymore

I took a party of eight to this supposely southern restaurant. the service was passable but the food was horrible and the wait. For the amount of money I spent I should have cooked at home. The food is absolutely gross. DO NOT EAT THERE!

My first experience with Cracker Barrel was way back in the 80's in N. Carolina. I thought it was great. But now its is becoming just another chain, with chain food and chain service. My last visit for breakfast, was cold eggs and ham that was way to salty.

Atmosphere, service, food, home cooking, it's all good. The casserole alone is worth the trip. The selections will overwhelm you. Do not rush. Take your time to read the menu. You will find a combination right just for you. The best seat in the house is close to the fireplace.

Pros: consistantly good, courteous staff, interesting gifts

Cons: long waits

I found the atmosphere pleasant, the food was well-
prepared, the service courteous & timely. If you are
going to drag yourself out of bed for breakfast; this
makes it worthwhile. The quality of the food is excellent; & on a continuous basis. This is by far, the best breakfast dining experience in all of Tampa.

No matter what I order when I get full half way through I can't stop eating I have to clean my plate. There are so many good items to choose from and they offer you a breakfast that has alittle of all the delicious choices. It is so hard to just pick a small meal so you definitely leave with a happy belly!!!!!

Cracker Barrel has a wide arrray of menu options even for the pickiest of eaters. They offer everything from a huge meal with eggs, meat, grits, and toast, to just a side of toast. Whether you are very hungry or just looking for a lite meal, they have lots to offer, including light and fluffy pancakes. The best speciality breakfast is the cassarole, which is only served on the weekends. Also, their biscuits are always fresh and delicious. From Cracker Barrels biggest meals to thier side dishes, the food is always hot and tasty.

I am glad that Cracker Barrel has made a home in Brooksville. The food is good as is the service we have gotten. My favorite section is the Old Country Store. They have done a very good job and we hope that they will remain for a long time.
