I would like to begin by stating I love the clutter of most book stores. It makes it an adventure and more of a treasure hunt. The moment I walked in Paperback Book Store I felt less collective and more hoarder. I was not greeted by the smell of books and paper but instead the smell of strong stinging ammonia; that should of been my sign to leave.
Walking pass what must of been a friend of the owner I smiled with no return, but that did not bother me. After waiting for a ten minuet conversation between the owner and another friend to come to an end they both starred at me before sighing and walking away. Pursing the owner I found her behind a shelf finally asking me what I wanted. I asked a simple question about purchasing a group of five books for my library; If they had any other copied. The books I found interest in were beat up but readable.

It did not take very long for me to feel uncomfortable with the demeanor and attitude of the worker/owner. She starred me down and even rolled her eyes at my questions, the worst by far was when my eight year old daughter asked a question about a winnie-the-pooh book. She looked to her 'friend' by the counter and snickered in a way that made my daughter feel sad insulted. I attempted to purchase the book that my daughter wanted with even more resistance. After handing her a five dollar bill I found her handing it back telling me she needs ones. After informing her I didn't have any she actually rolled her eyes again and said the rudest thing I have ever heard "Of course you don't, You people just make my day then." She precedded to make change for the five dollar bill but I said no thank you..

I stepped back and picked up my daughter instantly leaving, as we left she grabbed the book off the counter and huffed all the way to return it to the large pile on the floor. I have never felt so disrespected, and I have never had anyone so hatefully treat my child. I have a fully stocked library at home and will never again return to Paperback Book Store. On average I spend fifty to one hundred on new books for my personal collection, I refuse to spend a dollar there.

Bottom line they are not question or child friendly.

The Paperback Bookstore has lots of books at fair prices. The books sell for half off the retail price but if you bring in a book to trade you only pay a quarter of the retail selling price. The lady that waited on me was most helpful in finding the book I was looking for. I would buy there again
