In an effort to support local audio, I elected to buy a pair of headphones that I could have purchased for $45 cheaper at Best Buy (via rewards program). However, once I got home and tried them, I found that I did not enjoy them. Within 24 hours, I attempted to return the relatively cheap product (~$300.00). Rather than accept the return, the business pointed to their posted return policy (which I unfortunately did not notice when I purchased the headphone). The policy essentially was the manager's whim (all decisions on returns are the manager's) and, if they were to deem it okay to return them, they charge a 15% restocking fee (something I actually was willing to do prior to the denying a return on an item purchased and not damaged about 24 hours prior). While I can sell the headphones myself, I should not have to, thus this store has inconvenienced me in a way that most retailers would not elect to do. I am relatively new to the area and I have always enjoyed supporting local audio. Unfortunately, these guys are the only game in a small town and I will have to either venture to Jacksonville to House of Stereo (http://www.houseofstereo? , wonderful store, btw; great selection [far more expansive than this small town store offers], very knowledgeable staff; I've patronized their store many times over the last decade or so) or put yet another dollar in Amazon's (or Best Buy's) pocket. A shame. Customer service is the number one game for a local store. My impression is these guys saw me as small potatoes and they treated me as such. If I could give them zero stars I would. Thanks for reading.

I just wanted to let everyone know about Electronics World. I just assumed that Best Buy would be cheaper, but I was wrong. I bought all of my surround sound system from EW. The prices were the same. EW was not more expensive. But, what a difference in quality!!! When I compared the same speakers and receiver to the ones at Best Buy, what a difference. The Polk Speakers at Best Buy are not as good as the ones from EW. They must be a lower-end model. The ones I got from EW were way better quality much more heavy-duty. The staff at EW is always very knowledgable and nice to me everytime I have been in their store. The owner personally put together my system, and the sound is super great, its better than being at the movie theater. I will always buy audio and video from them. When you walk in the door at Electronics World, you get service and a guided tour immediately. When I walk into Best Buy, I get a bunch of kids that are too busy talking to their friends to wait on me. I will walk around for a long while and look at them to make eye contact, and they still won't wait on you. Most of the time, if you ask them a question, they won't know the answer. So if you want great service, great knowledge from the staff, and great quality, high end merchandise at the same prices as the other stores, then Electronics World is the BEST!!!\r\n\r\n

Electronic's World (EW) service man "Ryan" felt the need to respond to my review so let me again reply. Ryan is protecting himself in this matter by saving face with the owner. Ryan knows he and I spoke very clearly that if the bulb that he assured me was going to fix my TV did not work I would return it. At $243.00 I wasn't going to spend that kind of money for something that DID NOT fix the problem. Ryan has a full shop of equipment to test the bulb which he didn't use but simply looked at the bulb and asked me how old my TV was and said "Its your bulb" "Yep its bad." So I accepted his professional opinion like any consumer would and his assurance. I signed the sales slip indicating he replaced the bulb. I got home and installed the bulb and nothing. Same problem. When I returned as promised they would not simply take the bulb back and give me my money back. Now they want to test the TV and charge more money which is the trap most consumers get caught in. Vendors who want to maximize their profits by getting unwary consumrers to keep paying them for unneeded repairs. If Ryan would have tested the bulb and found it to be bad thats one thing but he didn't. He speculated and was wrong. In addition while replacing my "good" bulb he touched it which renders it useless. So EW can't even return my bulb to me. But the kicker is the store owner apparently read my blog and took the time to call me at work and just started yelling obscene things to me calling me a lying B*****D. I ask you is this the kind of person you want to give your hard earned money to? He was rude, threatening and just as I describe in my blog. In fact its an insult to used car salesman to refer to him in that way. He was Loud, Abusive and totally out of control of his emotions. It did bring some comical relief to my day though. BTW It appears my original review was removed from this blog site. This reiterates and amplifies my thoughts on the owner. The truth hurt him and he couldn't handle the truthful words. EW is not the store they make themselves out ot be. BEWARE OF EW. In my opinion their service is terrible and all they want is to extract as much money as they can for the unwary or unwarned consumer. Be also aware if you try to voice your views the owner has shown me the capacity to be obscene and abusive. It's my belief he attempted to remove this review also. What does that tell you about EW.

Business Response:

I am Ryan DaRoza ,the service manager at Electronics World. I would like the opportunity to say that the information provided by Mr. Patton is false. He brought in a defective lamp for his TV and we replaced this lamp advising him that there is a possability that he may have more issues but we would need to diagnose his TV to verify this.We were never givin the opportunity to diagnose this set and therfore not allowed to help solve his issues. We even offered to wave our estimate fee for in-shop diagnosis. Then in return for trying to help Mr. Patton, he responds by writing a review that we feel is totally unfare and inappropriate. We feel we have a 24 year excellent reputation and strive to provide the best A/V service in our area.

Great company and staff. They provide an excellent product. I have been purchasing various equipment from then for over 17 years and would not go anywhere else. They are always on time and return calls immediately. I would highly recommend their Mitibushi televisions, as I had my last one 15 years and only purchased a new one due to high definition.

i wish i didnt have to even give them a star! i give them zero stars! these guys are horrible. i had them work on my tv it was a mitsubishi and they claim to be a sevicer of mitsubishi! i had them come out and look at it. my tv had a problem with the inputs and would get picture on only a few inputs so it was still a working tv some what. when the repair guy came out he said "O yeah i can fix this no problem" it was just a coolant leak on one of the boards he took the board out and said it will take a few days to get it done. well 3 weeks later he got it back to us. i dont know what he did to it but the tv didnt even work at all now so he took a semi working tv and destroyed it. then he took everything out of the tv with him and said it will take about a week or so. now 2 weeks had past and i was not happy about it they dont call and tell you whats going on with it so i called them and they told me that the main video chip was burnt up and they werent looking for the parts anymore for it so i looked for the parts myself and found quite a few good boards for them to use but they would never even get off their butts and do anything. so it has been about 6 months since that happend and over the course of that 6 months i called and called and called and for the heck of it i called some more. i had hit my point of screw this crap and i got another tv and they still have my parts for the tv and havent called about it at all. the tv was thrown out about a month ago so if you dont want the hassle of their lazy customer service dont ever use them!

I came to this store looking to upgrade my 10 year old NHT 1.5's. As the previous reviewer mentioned, this place sells high quality (and expensive) audio and visual gear, but it only sells one brand of speakers that is worthwhile for music: B&W. I have heard previous models from this company before and I'll admit that their sound really wasn't my cup of tea. However, this store just butchered them. My current speakers sounded much better than almost anything I listened to there, including the ~$2500 a pair "nautilus" bookshelf units (I believe the 805S's) that I know are much better than mine, and my speakers are set up in a cramped apartment which is most certainly not optimally set up for audio listening. Even one of their top-of-the-line models (the 802) was set up in a terrible room that made them sound so unbalanced that I thought the right channel was broken. Further, almost all of their chairs are off-center. So, if you want to sit where you should, you have to sit on their end tables.

This is _not_ the place to shop for music orient 2-channel systems. That they only sell one brand of speakers is bad enough, but that they set those speakers up so horrendously is just sad. The sales person I talked to had so little clue about audio quality that he attributed the terribly sound to them being "too accurate"... what a joke. If you really want to pick up a pair of B&W speakers in Gainesville this might be one of the only options available, but don't expect to hear what they are capable of in this store.

There are some nice people at this store, ready to help you out, and not force a bunch of junk upon you. They sell very high quality auditory/visual equipment, as well as repair your equipment, and both services are reasonably priced. Definitely the place to shop if you want higher end than Best Buy or Circuit City.
