Overall, a memorable experience. I brought my wife for a Friday night out and we very satisfied with the food and service. The waiters may have been over attentive. I ordered the Bacalo (cod fish) sauted in Port wine sauce with steamed potatoes, olive oil, garlic and onions. My wife had a steak selection, Filet Mignon served with mushroom sauce and potatoes. The Bacalo took some time to cook but it was a pleasurable time because of the entres we ordered, that were very tasty; mozarella with tomato slices and shrimp in garlic sauce . To drink, I ordered ice tea and my wife a scotch. She was somewhat peeved because they did not serve liquor and had to settle for a white California wine. Finally, my Bacalhau D. Luis, grilled Norwegian Codfish in Port Wine Sauce, served with steamed Potatoes, Olive Oil, Garlic and Onions arrived and I realized what I had been smelling while eating the appetizers. The Port wine with the Bacalo produces a very pungent odor, that permeated the dining room, because this Coral Gables area ??Old Lisbon? restaurant does not have central A/C, and the kitchen smells waft out into the dining area. The fish and accompaniments were good. If you can stomach port wine, you would like Bacalhau D. Luis. For dessert, I ordered pears stewed in wine sauce and my wife had Delicia de Fatima, an egg yolk custard crumpled with Maria cookies, topped with white cream. She adored it and it offset their not having the scotch to drink. For an aperitif, I had some Port wine; royal tawny, 20 Yrs., that was very excellent!
