Wow... I cannot believe all of the reviews listed here are from 2005....it's 2011 folks, you should go back and see all of the additions and improvements that have been added since then. It's a great Zoo and a good place for families, both

My wife have gone to a couple other zoos in the area -- Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa and the Jacksonville Zoo -- and they are both better than this one.
It's still pretty good, but nothing great. For $10.95, you get what you pay for: a couple of hours killed.

We didn't get a chance to see any of their shows, but most of the animals in the exhibits were active (we went in February). They have a feeding area for goats, llamas, cows and turkeys where you can buy food for $1. This was the most fun part of the day. Everyone in the area was laughing and having a good time.

I think we'd go back again, but not for a while.

I've only been to this zoo once and that was 3 years ago. It just wasn't as impressive as I thought it would be. Their website makes it sound like something very incredible, or it did back then anyway. We spent less than two hours there and had already seen the whole thing almost twice. It's okay for a day trip with small kids that want to see animals, but it was not very educational and quite boring. I've never taken any of the classes there so I'm not sure how they are. Perhaps I'll give this place another shot some time soon to see if they have improved since I was last there.

The zoo still houses big cats in cages, it doesn't get a lot sadder than that! I understand and appreciate that they are trying to change, but after 5 years of supporting the zoo financially I've seen new exhibits and new buildings, but nothing new for the big cats! I will no longer support this zoo until those leopards and other cats have adequate room, or until the zoo lends them to a zoo that can provide a better home! This zoo is affordable and good for a daytrip, but don't plan on spending more than an hour unless you participate in an additional activity or class. My children have attended several classes and enjoyed them, and the additional price was affordable and justifiable.

PROS: Great classes!
CONS: Big cats are housed in small cages.

Kids love animals, and this is a great place to go for an afternoon to see them, they especially like the petting zoo. The annual pass is affordable. We have taken a few of the classes they offer and the kids have enjoyed them, they are worth the extra money. The zoo continues to make improvements and we look forward to the seeing the new additions.

This place is great for an afternoon outing. Bring the kids and enjoy the day. They have a large varity of animals. They also have a petting zoo a choo choo train and snack bar/ gift shop. On weekends the have animal demonstrations. It is small enought to do in 3 hours or so and have a great time. The also have night time events during holiday seasons. We always take out out of town guests here.

This is a perfect zoo for little ones. The size is not too overwhelming and they have a smaller selection of animals and exhibits. hey do have new exhibits coming and lots of education programs for kids. The fee is very reasonable and the services provided are plenty. They even provide teacher workshops. You can also have a birthday party here or a special occasion.

PROS: small for little ones
CONS: none

I've been going to this zoo for some time and it's improving itself and looking a lot nicer now a days. It's great for the whole family and it's easy on the wallet and just gives kids a chance to get some fresh air . So this is a good place to go in my book. I do hope it expands soon though so it can compare with some of the other places I've gone to.

PROS: Great for the whole family
CONS: Not nearly big enough

They have slightly lower than average prices but that is owing to the fact that, at present, they are a very small zoo. They are in the process of adding some exhibits so I hold out hope that it will be getting better in the future.

While the zoo may be small compared to some, it is very family and education oriented. They have made huge improvements over the last couple years and are continually doing so. My children LOVE their annual "Boo at the Zoo" every Halloween. The animals are very well treated. It is very affordable when you get the family pass for year-round visits. It is really great for smaller children.

After moving to the area with our children -we strated looking for a local Zoo to take the children to see the animals. The Central Florida Zoo is a nice sized zoo for smaller children or those who have not attended many zoos in the past! There are a someehwat limited amount of animals compared to many other zoos I have attended in larger cities but what animals they do have are tastefully and appropriately housed and well-maintained! Great place for field trips or family outings for elementary school aged children and below!
