I've been using Bernie's Dry Cleaners for almost six months now. Three times a week he picks up and delivers my clothes to our home. It's great that I give him clothes to dry clean on Monday and I get it back Wednesday. My clothes are

I've been using Bernie's Dry Cleaners for almost six months now. Three times a week he picks up and delivers my clothes to our home. It's great that I give him clothes to dry clean on Monday and I get it back Wednesday. My clothes are

I would like to file a complain against Bernie's Cleaners located at 7300 W Camino Real, Suite # 103, Boca Raton, FL 33433. Their phone number is: 561-338-7843.

They ruined my daughter's $500 coat. I brought it to their store to have it dry cleaned on Monday, 1/4/2010 and was told that it would be ready on Wednesday the 6th. However, I didn't go on Wednesday. Instead, I went 2 days after Wednesday; I was in their store on Friday, 1/08/2010 around 3pm and told by Bernie that my coat is not ready. Yet, he offered to drop off the coat to my house in the evening around 5pm. I was not happy. The coat was supposed to be ready 2 days earlier. What if I came 2 days earlier to pick up my coat and had to travel out of town the next day? Anyway, I was not happy about their unreasonable delay without notifying me, but there was simply nothing I could have done except to agree to their offer to drop off my coat in the evening. We received the coat after 7pm even though he promised it would be at my house at 5pm. After his delivery, we had to leave right away to rush for our diner reservation and thus were unable to examine the coat.
As such, we did not examine the coat until 2/6/2010. My daughter took the coat out of the Bernie's laundry plastic wrap and found out that they have ruined the coat, the inside silk layer, the leather buttons and the leather buckle of the belt were melted....

I then called and talked to Bernie about the damages. He knew exactly of this incident which surprised me: this is happened a month ago but when I called him to tell him the damages, he just answered me right away without thought or pause. He instead said that they didn't ruin it, that my coat was old. He also said that they will not be responsible for the buttons and buckle. He claimed that they were released from responsibility as per the receipt. I don't recall anything written on the receipt ticket when he handed it to me the day I dropped off the coat. He also took the receipt back when I went to pick up the coat and had me pay for the dry clean even though my coat was not ready. He never mentioned anything written on the back of the receipt ticket nor did he ask me to sign any waiver of sorts.

My point is that he not only ruined my coat, but he also tried to conceal their action by delaying the pickup. Perhaps the delay was as a result of attempting to fix the damages and was unsuccessful in doing so; but he should have still told me upfront of the situation of my coat. Also, instead of picking up my coat on time, they delivered it to my coat late and after dark. As pointed out earlier, due to our dinner plans we did not have time to examine the coat upon delivery. I would like to state that my coat is not an old coat. In fact, the coat was recently purchased and only worn a few times. The coat was also never dry cleaned before.
