RIPPED OFF BY BOB CLARKE PERSONALLY
DON'T BE FOOLED!! I needed a anti-freeze leek repair job. I ended up going there 5 times to fix my problem. It cost me over $300. He charged me for parts not necessary and I've been fighting with our "agencies" like Better Business Bureau and Consumer Services. These agencies were a waste of time. Clarke didn't even have the nerve to respond to my questions of "what did you actually fix" I took it to A&D AUTOMOTIVE in Tampa, and it took them less than 5 min to find the problem (water pump) In these hard times we should be more carefull in checking out companies before using them, the interenet is a great place to get feedback. next step is going to court. Pass this information on

Absolutely Abismal!!
The Owner talks down to you while he works and bullies his employees. He has shady business practices; he kept my corvette for four days, worked on it for a total of one hour, charged me for the diagnosis time and could not reach any conclusion. I researched the problem of my vehicle online and I knew more than he did about the vehicle and its systems. This place is a waste of time, they are crooked, unattentive, bullies, the Owner would not even let you talk before he was cutting you off. I called more than 20 times in a four day consecutive period and he never remembered who I was nor what vehicle was mine. He would say I will call you right back and never once did he return a call. If I had to do this again I would rather go repair my car at a pottery studio; they would have more expertise than these jokers. Absolutely horrible service! They charged me $104.60 to store my vehicle for four days. DO NOT GO HERE, THIS GUY NEEDS A LESSON IN MANNERS AND NEEDS TO APPRECIATE HIS CUSTOMERS. Please be warned, this is the worst repair shop in the history of mankind! His technician appeared to be a great guy but while I was having a conversation with him, the Owner cut him off and intimidated him, who does this guy think he is. Mr. Owner you are nothing but a front, you give the appearance that you care, but are nothing but a hipocrite. You should get a lesson in manners, I have been treated better. I am in a customer service driven industry you dont belong in charge, you should pack it up so that you can become a used car salesman as this is what you behave like.

Dear Mr. Clark,
Yesterday you were on my list of errands. I needed to have my wife's car (2008 Lexus ES350) inspected for Geico. Knew I would be in and out within minutes as I had just had my car (2013 Lexus RX 350) inspected two weeks prior by your wife. I'll assume it was your wife, anyway.This may jog your memory. "You don't like wealthy enough to own two Lexus's". Or how about this comment when I inquired about brakes for the ES? "Just Brakes is right down the road and you can get a complete brake job for 99.00". then you proceeded to lecture me on inspection and estimates, wrong time as guys were at lunch, etc. Guess I was just looking for a ballpark price and didn't expect the lecture.Then comes the finale: car was parked 20 feet outside your front door. Same place I parked my OTHER Lexus when it was previously inspected by your presumed wife. Could you walk those twenty feet to do your 15 second lookover? No. You had me back up and pull right up to the front door. What the heck was that all about? Power play? To a potential client? Mr. Clarke, sometimes your self perceived humor may be lost on others. You weren't funny, and your irritating spiel over the phone when inquiring about insurance inspection is also not amusing. Please remember that I'm there for business and not dime store entertainment.

Took my vehicle to Clarke Automotive with a starting electrical problem, Clarke had it for 3 weeks and $1500 later , this supposed professional not only did not fix the problem but lied about what was on the starting circuit of the vehicle and then Quote I just want the car gone.. I took it to the dealer they showed my the starting circuit diagram and fixed the vehicle with a bill of 339.00 If He says give me some more time or I don't pad the bill grab your vehicle and run. these guys are parts changers and not mechanics. i really contemplated on whether to post a review. I had issues with my car overheating when A/C on. Let me get to the point..it took 4 FULL DAYS and 1200.00 to get my car back. Wish the customer service was better...All the numerous calls came from me to them...never got a straight answer on the what or when or how much...would I recommend? NO.!! will I go back? NO !! 4 full days - radiator and 3 hoses replaced....yep..$1200...you decide. (the only reason I gave them the 2nd star is the owner's son, Matt and tech-Zach were very nice at check out and now had someone finally explaining all the work /charges and warranties.BUT STILL WOULD NOT RECOMMEND.

Preventative maintenance is the Best Maintenance for Auto Repair, You will spend a little more now to save a lot in the future. My car has 178,000 miles and it's because the Clarke philosophy for automotive care. Thanks for keeping me on the road with no monthly payments. All I wanted is to change my timing belt. We did the water pump also.

There are three things that I look for an auto repair shop: quality of work, honesty in pricing, and excellent customer service. I will never entrust my car to people who are incompetent with their auto repair work and are unprofessional when it comes to the length of time that they need to get the job done. All these characteristics I found in Bob??s auto repair shop in Brandon, Florida. Clarke Automotive Systems for me is the best auto repair shop in Brandon in terms of those three characteristics: superior quality of work, affordable and reasonable prices, and very accommodating and respectful staff. Bob and his team is worth recommending to everyone.

Clarke??s has been around for years now and they have a great reputation for providing professional services to their customers. I am a customer and have been one for 2 years now. My car is 5 years old now. It??s not as good as it used to be but it is still great shape. I don??t know much about cars but I do know you need to have it tuned-up at least once a year. Clarke??s does that for me and so far, I haven??t been in trouble yet. I??ve never had a breakdown in the middle of the road and my husband says the engine still sounds good. It??s may just be a once a year thing but it helps a lot on the maintenance and damage prevention department.

When I bought my hybrid car five years ago, the issue of battery replacement has never crossed my mind. I was caught in the hype of having a car that will save me from surging fuel prices. Five years later, I was facing a huge and costly problem of having to deal with hybrid battery replacement.

I contacted my dealer because that was the logical thing to do. But he was not much of a help either . He cannot answer my questions and gave me a very high quote of hybrid battery replacement. I figured I needed to do things on my own so I contacted almost every auto repair shop that ranked in Google. It??s not as if there are a lot of them. Mechanics and technicians who know how to fix hybrid cars are very rare in Brandon and nearby areas. It was then that I found Bob and his team in Clarke Automotive Systems.

Bob fixed the problems with my batteries. Apparently my problem is with corroded connections and not with battery cells. My dealer gave me high price because he wants to replace the entire hybrid battery, which I don??t blame him for because I also thought that replacement was the also solution to my battery problem. Bob??s knowledge and experience saved me a few thousand dollars that I would have otherwise spent in hybrid battery replacement.

I recommend Bob and his team at Clarke Automotive Systems to all the hybrid car owners in Brandon.

Definitely one of the best auto repair shops in Brandon Florida. Bob has been servicing the Brandon area since 1978, and not once have I experienced him selling me a product or service that my car does not need. That is honest auto repair for us here in Brandon!

Clarke Automotive systems offer a wide range of auto repair services including preventive maintenance and AAA approved repair services. Set an appointment with them if you are in need of General Repair and Maintenance Service, Collision Repair and Restoration, Undercar Repair and Maintenance, Transmission Services, Auto Electronics Services, AC Repair, Engine Repair/Overhaul and Check-ups, Towing, and other Auto Services (welding, custom exhaust, inspections, etc.) They also offer tire servicing including the sale of new tires.

What I like about Bob and his team is that they work fast. They can easily tell what??s wrong with a car through their diagnostic tools. They also have immediate access to OEM parts which make them fix the car problem faster than other auto repair shops. If they say you can get your car at this date, you surely will.

Another thing I like about Clarke is that they have a complimentary email service to remind me whenever my car is due for an oil change, transmission check-up, or any other scheduled car maintenance operation. I find this very helpful because I sometimes forget about these things.

I just went to Clarke's june 8th and I found them great. I was 15 min. late (new to area) had a coupon for an oil change. I have a caddy with a big engine that took 2 qts. over what the 10.95 coupon stated. They only charged me $3.00 extra. I have a computer in my car that lets me know that oil has been changed and it was. They took my car right away and I was on my way in 1/2 hour. They did not try to push me into more repairs. I will go back again.

Been wwith Clark for some time now went originally because I know personnally one of his former mechanics. Left the country for a while ad returned to find hat Tim no longer worked there. Needed some work done I left my car in thier care. Long story short Took my car there for a " it starts when it wants to " issue .something they had supposedly fixed 2 weeks prior. Again they kept my car for over two days said something about a fuse but said the car was ready fir pick up . When I arrived to pick it up I saw his sone driving in front of me in my vehicle . I watched him pull in and unload soda and some bags. I asked was the soda mine ,ensuring he knew I saw him, he said no . When I went inside to get my car his son walked in from the service side. Sat the packages down and came over to me " I was just picking up lunch" i said in my car and he immediately corrected himself (lied) "I was test driving it". Mr Clack was on the phone and obliviouse to our conversation . When he got off the phone he said hello i said I was here to pick up the Envoy he then stated I know you was on your way so I had them bring it around ( the car was parked where his son had gotten out. Iwas very upset just paid and left. Upon arriving at home i went to lower my back seat ( the fuse box in stored there ) and that is when I noticed my car was not even put back together there was a fuse laying out the fuse box was still open there were diagrams still strewn about. Maybe if his sone was not out joyriding in my car they would have had time t put it back together. Unfortunately my story does not end there, I out my car back together minus the fuse because I cant figure out where it goesbut now the back window won't roll down leaving so the olny way for me to currently utilize the trunc of my SUV is to fold down the rear seats and pack everrything in that way . I am currently looking for another shop that I can trust totake a look at it.

They not only quoted me a price that was 400.00 cheaper than 3 other places I called. But Mr. Clark himself told me to replace things as I go. For example...First do the 2 motor mounts that are completely broken, then come back and do the rack and at a later date do the other 3 motor mounts as to save myself time and money. ALSO, my drivers side window had fallen off the track (electric) and they fixed it without charging me and didn't even mention they'd done it. They truely care about there customers and are willing to do whatever it takes to keep their good name!

I not only Will go back to them for futher repairs, but would definantly recommend them to other people who are having a hard time with competitors! Thank you Mr. Clark and employees for taking a whole lot of stress off my shoulders and helping me keep my car running!

Reasonable prices and friendly people. If you have to wait they have a crazy good magazine collection.

I'm new in town and have only used them for oil changes, but watching their customer service has me thinking "I'll be back".

Caution:

Oil changes can take hours. Uses "bait and switch" $10 oil change coupon in the local paper becomes $20-30 oil change.

Overbooks appointments, so expect a wait. You make an appointment, but watch your car sit for awhile (hour or more) before they get to it. Then you see your car on the lift with no activity.

If all you want is a simple oil change, you may as well go to a Jiffy Lube-type of franchise and save yourself an hour or two of your time. Your time is probably worth more than the $5-10 that you might save.

The coupons are used to draw you in to the shop - where more maintenance will be recommended.

Erroneously charged for a service - had to correct the bill.

I don't expect to return. Can't recommend. Don't trust. Asked for a written estimate of recommended maintenance recommended - owner wasn't able to provide.

AAA towed me in last Saturday afternoon after my van broke down on my way through town. It was late in the day, on a weekend, and they still manged to get me back on the road.

They fixed my vehicle, for a fair price, and I made my appointment th Monday following morning.

Told me I needed a new engine, for a variety of reasons. When I left I realized I had nothing more than a reciept, so my husband requested documentation and he refused to proived anything he said to me in writting. He gave me a speech about his intgerity, honesty, and good buisness value the first time I meet him. Mr. Clark the definition of integrity is Steadfast adherence to a strict moral or ethical code. I guess putting you words in writting would be to much of a liability. I left Mitsubishi this mourning with everything they said in writting, most importantly I have no engine issues. God Bless!!

I heard about Clarke's from a friend. I needed a repair and subsequently found out about some neglected maintenance items on my car. My car was serviced in the time frame we had agreed on, and for less than the dealer wanted. Not only did they meet any expectations I had, they gave me a ride to work. What more could you ask for?

Hi, Before turning 40...and even 50, I was a GM dealership master mechanic in Michigan for 10 years and understand the car business frustrations we all have from BOTH sides of the two-headed coin (like 2-Face uses in the latest Batman movie...remember?). If I may, I would like to ask the customer 10 ordinary questions, if you please? Q1: By airing your frustrations in this venue (I'm not judging now...only laying out a logical exploratory to better understand your position...can you help me with this?), did this fix your car? Q2: Is your goal to get your car fixed? Q3: If it is your responsibility (outside of a mechanic's unforeseen and unintentional error) to repair your car, are you prepared to pay the necessary charges to fix your car properly, no matter the cost (within industry labor times...wholesale parts pricing is controlled by the parts suppliers and not by the repair shops. The repair shops "Have To" add the retail mark-up to pay for utilities and other non-labor shop overhead or they wouldn't be able to remain open for your benefit...and the business owner wants to get his paycheck as well-his labor is indirect to the labor charges you pay for the mechanic and he has house/apartment, car payments too...AS YOU KNOW, just one unforeseen high utility bill out of your budget really cramps your living and party money availability...at least it does mine-my Verizon Wireless bill is an excellent example of reduced party money.)? Q4: Do you recognized that all people are simply human who MAKE unwanted and unintentional mistakes due to many factors, including on-the-job stress due to shortened time limits -[sure which I could control this one in my life], lack of parts availability again causing time/stress issues for both repair shop people and the customer-and this list goes on and on? I have been using Clarke's for years! They are professional and receive continuous training and certifications in their industry. The owners and mechanics always take time to explain ALL of the service needed, not just the "band-aids" that would be a quick-fix. Most people, including some of the negative commentors below, wouldn't know a good mechanic from a bad one. I highly recommend Clarke Automotive! If you take the time to listen to what they have to tell you, you'll get great service and your car will have a longer life.

Both the owner and the female behind the counter were curt and rude. Tried pressure sales for the repair (he was afraid to put the car back together without fixing the problem [my A/C didn't get cold - oooooooh scaaaaary]), but I didn't fall for it. Not willing to explain my exact problem once I said I wouldn't commit until I had a 2nd opinion. Glad I left. A different shop came in 40% cheaper. Clarke Automotive is what's wrong with this industry and to do this under the guise of being a Christian is an abomination. Use at your own risk - I'll never be back.

Do not trust them. I needed a water pump on my 99 Stratus with 75k miles. I sent my wife to drop off the car and the service manager explained to my wife that my car needed new head gaskets, heads machined, valve job and a list of other problems,,, $2200.00 dollars worth! She called me and told me what they said. I told her to drive home immediately. The service manager was not going to let her drive the car, "It will blow up"! he said. She drove it home and we took the car to a local dealer and the water pump was installed along with the timing belt and other belts for $450.00. They saw a woman with a problem and they saw $. Never trust this shop!

I won't go to anywhere else. I trust the workers and owner completely. To the other review that said they did authorize some of the work they did, I say the work must of been truly needed and should thank the workers there for their safety. When I go there I know I am being treated with respect and that people aren't trying to pull a fast one on me. I recommend this place wholeheartedly.
