Our table had a bill close to a grand and the meat was dry, service clanked glasses stocking the bar right behind our table through the whole conversation. Terrible service, terrible food. The sauce for the lamb and the scallops didn't

Did I mention that we waited for almost 15 minutes to be acknowledged by our servers? Or that once we did order drinks, we had to ask twice for them before they finally arrived with the ice largely melted. We were told the bartender was

Here's a Yellow Dog Cafe gameplan: Keep your wits about you and your wallet in your front pocket if you venture into the Yellow Dog Cafe. Try not to be star struck by the $27 cookbook bearing the restaurant's name. Make sure you are not

An OK restaurant that is truly inconsistent. Nice view, Ok food (what there is of it) and well overpriced. There are better restaurants nearby with better food and much better prices. This is a true example of hype over substance. A marketing wonder!

What a wonderful experience eating here. The atmosphere is incredible and the food is excellent. It is expensive but well worth it for what you get. This would be a fabulous place to have a special occasion. My soup, salad, dinner was unreal. I highly recommend Yellow Dog Cafe.

On 2/18/08, my wife and I were deciding where to take visiting friends to lunch and we decided on Yellow Dog Cafe. We had been there before and were very impressed.

We (party of 4) arrived at 1:45, and were immediatley seated outside on the deck near the bar. Business seemed brisk, but I wouldn't describe it as very busy and there seemed to be a sufficient number of servers available.

We sat there for 10 minutes and not one person had even acknowledged our presence. It became obvious that if we wanted anyone to wait on us, we would have to speak up and get someone's attention. I noticed a lady who seemed to be a manager and asked her to find someone to take our drink order. She took it on herself to do so, which was appreciated.

In another 5 minutes or so, she delivered the drinks, but lost balance of the tray and dropped and broke several items. We all understood and didn't mention it to her. She quickly brought out another order.

So, 15-20 minutes later, we had drinks, but still, no waiter had acknowledged us.

During that time, another couple arrived and I guess it must have been the king and queen of someplace because as they were being seated (and I mean before they sat in their chairs), they were being served wine and being told of the specials that day. I guess it is "good to the be the king".

As you can imagine, this did not impress us. Here we were, having sat for 30 minutes and not having one visit by any employee and that newly arrived couple are being served before they're seated.

Understandably, we decided to leave. We were simply astonished at the complete lack of service.

There is a problem at the Yellow Dog. I've seen slow service and bad service, but NO SERVICE even after having to flag someone down ? They should be embarrassed.

And yes, we were dressed appropriatley for this upscale eatery. There is no reason I can think of that we shouldn't have been served.

Pros: Good view

Cons: Good luck

I have been eating at the Yellow Dog since it was a very small place where the only table for more than four was in a back room that felt like it was falling into the river. It was pricy, very intimate, i.e. tight, but the open kitchen prepared the best food within 100 miles of the place. It has since grown in size and status, but still has the same qualities that the original restaurant had, only better! The food is excellent, and would satisfy all but the pickiest gourmet; read that - you get enough food to eat. The service has never been better. The host/hostess is pleasant and accommodating. The menu and wine list is extensive. The valet parking is a welcome improvement too. It?s my first choice for a meal to impress.

The service is very friendly and attentive. The food is reasonably priced and prepared by gourmet chefs. Yellow Dog offers a wide variety of foods that will dazzle the taste buds. The ambience is amazing overlooking the river. Enjoy!
