Several weeks ago, I went to Kroger to purchase gas. I used my debit card (pin number was required) to pay for my purchase. The pump automatically stopped at $53.85. I was mad, b/c my car was not full. I went to the cashier to ask why the pumped stopped she stated it was my bank's decision. I visited my bank to complain, and the bank told me it was Kroger. I then returned to Kroger to speak with the store manager. The manager said it was my bank. So, I told him it was Kroger. He then said Kroger has an agreement with the bank it uses to process credit card/debit card payments to automatically stop the purchase of fuel after the customer reaches $53.85. I was mad. Kroger doesn't automatically stop a customer's debit card when the customer purchases more than $53.85 of food. I asked the manager why. He had no answer. I told him that Kroger should at least have a sign at the gas pumps to inform the customers that the tank will automatically stop at $53.85 if a credit/debit card is used. He said a sign was at the pumps. I told him it was not. Then he replied by stating Kroger would place a sign at the gas pumps. It has been over a month since I complained and a sign has not be placed at the gas pumps to inform the customers. Kroger does not care about informing the customer.
