after taking our cat into this clinic, We rate this experience a 1. I thought is was a terrible place, and did not feel comfortable with the doctor or staff. I was shocked to find that the price was 5-10 times more than our well established Vet of 25 years. This clinic is all about the money, and semed to care less about treating the animal. They made sure to get $1000.00 before they even started treatment. It is sad in an emergency situation that people are so concerned about taking all your money.
If you go to a place like this, be sure it is a life and death situation, and have your money readily available

I too my very ill rat (yes rat) to CEV the vet, Seth Gurney, was sooo nice! He gave me her diagnosis strait and helped me get the best possible care for my budget. \n\nEarlier last year I took another rat to the same vet clinic and I unforgettably had to put her down. I had the same vet but he was so caring and helpful to both my rat and myself.\n\nLet me put it this way, He was more caring than my (ex)husband.

thank you so much cev! i bought my 14 week old puppy layla in on 9/29 she had a deep laceration on her hind leg. i was distraught! i had no money to pay for her visit! i was sure there was nothing i could do. the staff at CEV took me in anyway. although i didnt have money to pay for her visit they cleaned her up and made her feel a little better. my dogs are my world and i don't know what i would do with out them. i will be taking layla to the regular vet tomorrow to see what need to happen. but thank you so much CEV!

My husband brought our 6 year old terrier mix Daisy in on June 18th after she was mauled by our rescue dog. She suffered severe trauma to her throat and most limbs. When I arrived she was being treated and I was surprised to look over and notice her doctor (Dr. Matthews) crying, that was touching. She had been in our basement bleeding out for only god knows how long. She had a 93 temp and her blood pressure was not registering. For a dog anything below 96 is dying. By the next morning she was somewhat stable. That was thanks to the staff at CEVH.
Our baby spent the next 6 days between the location in Cherokee and in Marietta where she received the best treatment in the world. She had several transfusions and was doing better. We were always treated with respect and compassion. We visited her twice a day and sometimes had to wait but we understood that there were others there in need of treatment.
I can't understand why they are receiving such bad reviews, maybe some people think diarrhea should receive the same immediate car as an animal who has been struck by a car. Well I am glad for Daisy's sake that wasn't the case. Emergency treatment does not cost the same as your regular veterinarian, it is expensive. But we knew this was the bast place for our baby. She got the same treatment you or I would have received in a hospital. And guess what if you go to you family physician the co-pay is 40.00 but if you go to the ER it is considerably more, same concept people.
Unfortunately Daisy had to be put down due to a blood clot that traveled to her brain but I am confident that if it wasn't for Dr. Matthews, Dr. Johnson and all the staff (I can't remember all names) Daisy wouldn't have had a chance at all.
Keep up the good work, it is appreciated!!!

In October 2007, I rushed my dog to this clinic. He had pre-existing conditions, but this was different.

The customer service staff was AWFUL. They treated me like I didn't know what I was doing, ignored me when I asked them questions, and basically, thought it was all a joke. Hey, ladies....someone brings a pet into an emergency clinic - it's no laughing matter.

The veterinarian, on the other hand, was awesome. He was honest, but caring. He told me costs associated with additional testing that MIGHT work, but he was realistic about my dog's prognosis. He was not in it for the money, but rather for the animal.

Unfortunately, my dog was euthanized that night, but the vet was very compassionate.

To be honest, I think I would've rather seen my kitten suffer than deal with the way they treated my mother and I.

I could hear my kitten SCREAMING in agony over them 'examining' him. They treated me like I had no sense and just because I applied for the Care Credit thing that I didn't deserve the same kindness that a person who can pay for it on their own. The receptionist's tone and mannerisms were atrocious. She had a very holier than thou attitude and thought she was a gift from God or something.

Of course, she didn't allow me to see the vet either, saying they wouldn't do the exam even if it was paid for.

I have never been treated so badly by any vet or doctor of any kind in my life.

I don't blame people for there anger about there experiences at Cherokee Emergency Vet Clinic. Alot of people who are taking there pets to an Emergency Vet are clearly upset and worried about there loving family members. But these type of places you have to understand treat pets based on there medical need, which means if you have a dog coming in because he got a cut on his leg from a fence, and a dog comes in hit by a car and has labored breathing, there probably going to see the hit by car first. also most of these places don't do Dr changes after midnight. I have had my own experiences bringing in a pet or two to both Cherokee and Cobb ER (which by the way have the same Dr's, and staff so to say one is better then the other is ridiculous) and have had nothing but good experiences. Most of the Dr's are very skilled and talented and know what they are doing. I recommend it to anyone who needs emergency services for there pets.

I find it unsurprising to read all the terrible reviews for this hospital, the complaints are well founded. This is a horrible clinic. I brought my cat here because her breathing was labored. An x-ray revealed fluid on her lungs, and I was told she more than likely had congestive heart failure and needed lasix treatment to remove the fluid. I was also told they would keep her overnight to do that. That was shortly after midnight. When I called the next day to arrange transport to her regular vet, there had been a shift change, and the new vet on duty told me, "she hasn't improved much, I would like to put her on lasix." She couldn't explain why the vet I originally saw had not administered lasix as indicated. I later had a conversation with him, he told me he didn't treat her as planned because he wanted to confirm she had congestive heart failure, and other conditions hadn't been ruled out. His primary concern was that lasix would dehydrate her. The problem with this is that the side effect of the lasix can be treated, but the failure to treat the fluid on her lungs almost killed her. In other words, treat now, diagnose later - this is an emergency! When I transported her to her regular vet, they put her on lasix immediately, but her condition had severely worsened, and she almost died due to the delay in starting lasix. The vet also made some untruthful remarks on my cat's medical charts, presumably to cover himself in the event of a lawsuit. Overall, this is a highly unprofessional clinic, whose primary concern is money, and some of the veterinarians who work here are incompetent. I do not recommend taking your pet here at all.

2 times I've been there and in need of emergency surgery. After loosing about 1 precious hour taking care of the Money part, both times my dogs almost die to two different vets with terrible surgery skills. My dogs had to go, one for a second surgery (Because of a bleeder) and the other one had to have especial after surgery care because the sutures were poorly done. A massive infection made the recovery a nightmare. A surgery that would have cost me $500 at my very experienced vet got me a bill of almost $6000 at the Woodstock facility. They do have an state of the art facility and technology, but some of the doctors don't know how to use it. I don't recommend them, and I wish I would have another option to go when I have an emergency with my pets. Emergency care is more expensive but this hospital prices are ridiculously high. I guess they abuse because they are the only emergency around.

Visited the vet at Cherokee Emergencyh Veterinary Clinic this morning with a non-urinating cat. He asked what other animals were in the house and were they having problems. I said I have other cats, all normal except one is over weight. He laughed at me and said "I'm surprised YOU have an over weight cat!" Of course I am overweight, but having recently lost 30 pounds at our new Fitness Center in Woodstock, this was totally uncalled for. As far as my pet is concerned, it only took 2 minutes for the vet to say he was fine, give hime some drugs and send him home. It was almost closing time and I guess he was in a hurry.

I normally go to the 24/7 emergency vet hospital on Cobb Pkwy in Marietta, however, was happy that the new affiliate facility on Hwy 92 was open. My cat slammed his leg into a wall while chasing his sister one evening. The way he was acting, I wasn't sure if he hit his head or what. Luckily the hospital wasn't busy and the staff took him back quickly. After an examination, the doctor informed me that his knee cap popped out of the socket and an xray was taken to confirm. I followed up at our regular vet the next day who reassured me, with rest, everything would be fine. It was. Kitty was running around like nothing every happened 30 days later. Good facility minor treatment. I would recommend the one on Cobb Pkwy for anything major or needing over night care.

This was an awful experience all around. They mid-diagnosed my parent's dog and did not treat him for a very serious, life-threatening obstruction. They over charged and did not run any baseline bloodwork or take radiographs, which is a basic in veterinary medicine. Unhappy, we ended up taking him to the cobb emergency clinic and had a much better experience and they easily diagnosed the problem and took him to surgery. I would highly recommend going to either a regular veterinarian or the cobb emergency clinic over this one.

The location is very convenient and the veterinarian on duty was very nice but the technicians and receptionist were not very nice. The lead technician was nice at first but she never came back to talk to us. One of her other younger technicians came back into the room with our dog - who is so meek and wouldn't hurt a flea - and said, "Your dog is SO bad!" and proceeded to interrogate us in a very accusatory fashion about whether he had had any obedience training at all. Our dog does not like being restrained in a head lock - which I certainly don't blame him for. My regular vet has absolutely no problem with my dog, and actually says he is one of the best behaved dogs he treats because he is SO laid back and lets his staff do what they need to get him treated so I was shocked when this girl came back saying that my dog was so awful! Needless to say I was upset at her lack of professionalism in an already stressed situation.

I thought the people here were very unprofessional considering that it's an emergency facility and they have people coming in VERY concerned about the potentially life-threatening situation they are there for. As we waited for hours to even get an answer whether our dog could be treated or not we heard the employees in the back laughing and joking around sounding as if they had nothing to do, yet they had us waiting without coming back to tell us what was going on for over 2 hours.

My husband and I ended up leaving without getting our dog treated because we were told they would not be able to get to him for another several hours. Prior to being told this, the staff told us our dog was next in line to be treated so when we heard this coflicting info we decided to leave and take him to our regular vet in the morning.

PROS: Nice veterinarian.
CONS: Unprofessional technical staff/receptionist.

This vet is rather convienent for emergency situations, but I didn't get a good feeling from the doctor. I felt he was too young and wasn't experienced enough.
