BEWARE! One of my dog's anal glands ruptured - I had not seen this before so I immediately took her into the vet. She had an initial checkup (It was my first time at All Creatures.) there about a month before and all was well. (However, the cost of the check up was high.) Once I got her to All Creatures they immediately took my small 7 lb dog from my arms and took her into the back. (Did I mention that when I called in before I took her to the vet that I sat on hold for at least 10 mins.? At one point the girl that answered the phone started talking to me about another dog that wasn't mine! I was in a state of panic at this point because my dog's anal glands were oozing.) Finally, the vet (the wife of the husband / wife team) came into the exam room that the receptionist finally ushered me into.

The matter of fact cold female vet told me that my dog had a mass next to her anal gland and that the only way she would live was if I had her undergo a surgery that was going to be $2,500.00! Furthermore, they didn't express either of the anal glands (even the one that hadn't ruptured) nor did they clean the dog up.The consensus from the vet that spoke to me was that my dog would eventually die if I didn't consent to the operation. (What a way to play on my emotions - and they knew this dog was like my child.) They sent me home (after I told them they needed to bring my dog back to me!) with some antibiotics and told me to tell them when I wanted her to have the surgery.

I immediately took her for a 2nd opinion. Low and behold the vet I went to thought that All Creatures was money hungry. After the other vet expressed both anal glands, cleaned the dog up, took X-rays, and had her stabilized over a week with anti-inflammatory meds (Please note that All Creatures did not even give me pain meds nor anti-inflammatory meds for my dog!) and a different anti-biotic - the mass shrunk and was no longer present. It was basically a non-threatening abscess.

If I would've had the surgery on my dog initially suggested by All Creatures it would've all been in vain. The vet that I received the 2nd opinion from thought it was crazy that All Creatures would even suggest such an operation before the dog had been stabilized and both anal glands had been expressed.

BOTTOM LINE? This establishment espouses a "caring facade," but sadly, they are only in this business for the cold, hard cash. BEWARE!!!!

All of the techs and front office workers are very knowledgeable. This is the closest vet for our guniea pig. They handle him with extra loving care and attention.

I am convinced that All Creatures is one of the best veterinary hospitals I have ever been in. The Drs. are up to date on the latest developments in veterinary medicine and took a special interest in my cat. The clinic is spotlessly clean. They work with you on preventive care (dental, etc.) so that your kitty will remain healthier instead of just fixing "problems" as they occur. You can probably find cheaper care, but I doubt that you won't find better care anywhere. They did a great job educating me about my kitty's condition and how we could make it better. Not only will your pet be healthier, but you will learn a lot about handling any problems he or she develops. I think this place is as good (maybe better) than consultations you might get at a veterinary medical school. They also have long office hours but definitely call for an appointment first.
