not worth the money of admission. This place is lack-luster when compared to other southern landmarks. I mean margaret mitchell herself called this place a dump, so how great can it be?! I mean unless you're a gone with the wind groupie (which means you're like 70) dont' come here and visit. NOT WORTH IT

The Margaret Michell House and Museum is a great place for fans of Gone With the Wind, as well as history buffs. They have a tour which lasts about an hour and half, and they tell you not only about the history of Gone With the Wind, but more about the life and time of Margaret Mitchell. It has a lot of memorabilia from the movie, and the gift shop is fantastic!

Margaret Mitchell was much more than just the writer of a classic novel. She led a very interesting life and this tour will teach you how much more she was. As you tour the parlors and apartment, you will also learn some of the history of Atlanta. The museum has great memorabilia from the movie, Gone with the Wind - one of my all-time favorites.

I enjoyed the Margaret Mitchell house. Interesting history and a well done tour complement the furnished house and landscaped grounds. The tour guide was funny and interesting. Good out of town activity with nearby restaurants and close to MARTA.

This is a great house museum, located when Margaret Mitchell wrote Gone With the Wind. The museum/house is right off of Peachtree and easy to get to. Further, the museum is within walking distance to the Fox Theater (where Gone With the Wind had its premier) for those smitten by the movie.
Though the museum does have EVERYTHING related to the movie (Including during the movie shooting, most every poster advertisement etc) it also features Margaret MItchell's apartment and information about her life and early writings.
This is a great place for people who are interested in the history of Atlanta or the movie. The tour is fairly extensive and staff is very knowledgeable.

I took my girlfriend to the Mitchell house thinking we'd have a lot of fun but this was more of an educational tour. We learned
about Margaret Mitchell's life (she wrote Gone With The Wind for those not familar) and what she overcame in her life. The tour was rather boring and a visit to "apartment #1 is rather cramped. I don't know how they expect so many visitors to see everything when pushed into such a tiny room. This is not a tour for families with kids that is for sure. If you're low on time or with kids, I suggest you hit up the World of Coca-Cola instead.

This is a very nice tour. It is easy access to walk to from the Midtown Marta Station. The tour starts in the museum where they will walk you over to Margaret Mitchell's house. The tour guides are usually very well informed and able to answer questions and then the tour concludes at the Gone with the Wind museum where you can see lots of the movie memorabilila and info on the making of the movie. THere is a little gift shop there as well.

My mother and I went to the Margaret Michell House & Museum over the weekend and were not very impressed. We tried to pay our admission with two twenty dollar bills and they didn't have change forced us to pay with a credit card. I would think that a tourist attraction would be equipped with plenty of change for cash paying tourist. The tour of the house was very plain. We went to tow palor rooms that only had pictures hanging up on the walls. We then went to apartment #1 which was nice and interesting, but it was way too small to have 20 people croweded into the living room. Being crowed into that room didn't allow you to see everything in the room. I felt that we were really rushed through the entire tour so that a wedding reception could take place.

I really knew nothing about Margaret Mitchell (other than the fact that she wrote 'Gone With The Wind') before I visited the House for the first time. After taking the tour and learning about Ms. Mitchell's family, her triumphs over adversity and her incredible acts of philanthropy, I became a huge fan. In fact, I even worked at the MMH for a while a couple of years ago. The tour is a really neat glimpse not only into an amazing life, but into the complex history of the city of Atlanta and complicated race an gender issues. Very much worth a trip.
