Similar to Toni's experience in another review, Emory Animal Hospital appeared to have screwed us over for an extra buck. I can't say much about the quality of the care, and I suspect that it is at least average, but that is irrelevant if they will take advantage of you at their earliest convenience to increase their revenues.
They took our tiny cat, Sheba, into a back room for a fecal exam and then came out and told us she'd BITTEN the vet tech. Well, it was a fecal exam after all. Shouldn't they, being competent and knowledgeable professionals, expect an animal to react adversely when an instrument is inserted into the rear end? This cat has never bitten anyone...... ever. And they were unprepared and unable to avoid a bite from a cat that weights only 5 pounds?? I could have done the fecal exam myself with a better result.
And the story goes on. The worst part was that law required quarantine for 10 days because we had mistakenly let the rabies vaccination lapse by about 1 month (which isn't even significant, really, not to menion the cat is INDOOR only). We had little choice but to board Sheba for 10 days at Emory to avoid having her spend 10 days at Animal Control. We were without our cat for 10 days and my wife was distraught about the whole thing. Then we we had to pay nearly $200 for the 10 days of boarding, which was after a 10% "discount". They expected us to be grateful for a 10% discount on what we felt was a very bogus event and charge. Furthermore, quarantining prohibits any human contact, meaning all they had to do was dump food/water in the cage and maybe dispose of the litter after 10 days. What can that really have cost them? Unbelievable.
I have and will continue to steer friends, family, and acquaintances away from Emory Animal Hospital. They are money-grubbers at best, incompetent money-grubbers at worst.
