I have been going there for my Honda lawnmower needs for years.
These people have consistently been helpful and knowledgable, courteous, patient and engaging.
They earn my business every time I go there.

I took my Honda mower to J & J to see if it could be repaired. They charged me a $40.00 estimate fee. Within a couple of days the mechanic called me and told me what my repair would consist of and what the charges would be. I authorized the repair and when I picked up the mower, 2 days later, the bill was exactly what they had quoted. The original $40.00 estimate was deducted from the bill. My mower functions like brand new it also had been washed and I did not even recognize it. Great service, will definitely recomend to my friends and neighbors.

I took my Honda mower in to have the self propelled transmission fixed or adjusted. After a $40 non-refundable "diagnostic" assessment they told me it was not repairable. They would only give me a $40 credit towards a new mower. When I took the same mower to a new repair shop near my house a year later they said all it needed was an adjustment and tuneup ($112 total). The mower is working great again - J&J is either an unethical dealership of Honda products or their service department is clueless.

We just went into J&J Mower with my old blade and a fan belt wanting to purchase replacements. They all said it was impossible to get replacements without a model number. I said that two years ago I purchased replacements by simply matching the blade and belt I had brought in. They said that I did not because that is impossible. I pointed to my distinctive blade, and asked, "Are you calling me a liar?". They then said I could not match a 36" by 1/2" V-Belt, like the one I had in my hand. I said, "IT"S A VEE BELT." The male "salesman" then motioned his hand toward a line of nails in a board with approximately 40 belts on it. I walked directly up to the one I thought was correct, compared it, and said, "This is the belt I need.". I then secured my blade and belt and turned toward the front area of the store, where a well-dressed man of about 80 years had just walked into the store with a Stihl trimmer in hand. He said he did not believe his new trimmer he had purchased needed work, but that he just had not been able to start it, and he was wondering if the store could just look at it, to make sure he was doing it correctly. The man in the store said contemptuously, "Well, I'm LOOKIN' at it.". I put my items on the floor, and proceded to stand directly between the "salesman" and the customer, offering my assistance, and saying, "Trouble starting it?" "I've got one very similar to this one." "It's a great trimmer, but there's kind of a secret to starting them..." I then started looking at it and found it was indeed, brand new. The customer had JUST PURCHASED the trimmer from J&J, and J&J treated this perfect customer like he was trash that repeatedly blows in the door. I took the trimmer outside the door, saying to the customer, "This is a great trimmer; we'll have it started in no time...". The "salesman" then said, loud enough for the customer to hear, "What, he wants us to look at that without payin?" The "sales staff" together said "It ain't gunna start 'cause thar's ethanol in it. You gotta have it in for service so we can clean the whole thing out. That ethanol's been sittin up in it, so it ain't gunna start. It's impossible." I then set the trimmer down outside the store's door and began to pull the starter cord. The "sales staff" then said in concert, "You gotta move that off to the side so you don't get smoke in here when it starts!" I said "You said it was impossible to start. Which is it?" The poor elder customer was visibly upset, so I walked with him to his late-model pick-up truck near the store's entrance, and started the trimmer. While it was running, the customer and I had a great, loud, conversation over the noise of the trimmer about how this is an example of the very worst types of business that could infect an established community. My question was, did it make J&J Mower feel that good, to destroy one of the few Saturday mornings this 80-year-old man has left? The two of us agreed that neither of us, nor any person we encounter at our neighborhood meetings should support this business.

I own a lawncare business and spent literally several thousand dollars with J&J for new equipment over time. Then I took a blower for warranty repair, which they screwed up then refused to take responsibility for, and it ended up costing me over $100 to fix their screw-up. Down the road I needed another warranty repair on a different blower I'd bought from them, and this time both Jamie and her husband were absolute jerks about it. They will smile and take your money for new equipment, but don't expect any service from these people. They lost me as a customer for good.

I called to ask about a self-propelled mower repair. The male I spoke with was rude and sarcastic and would not answer my question. He would only say you have to bring it in and pay $40 to have it looked at. He could not even quote a potential repair cost even if the whole transmission had to be replaced. Why would you scare away a customer with that kind of attitude? How are they still in business? I guess it is because they sell high quality new products, but their service is very unsatisfactory.

Surreal experience on sevice. Honda push mower needed blade sharpened and a new clutch cable. The bill came in over $100. They said if the price is an issue I should have asked for an estimate (I only asked the price of the cable - they failed to tell me the labor would be $91!!!.). The bigger issue was the way I was treated. "The price is that - you either pay it, or leave your mower here and we will sell it" they told me. Later - I called three other local Honda authorized shops and each quoted less THAN HALF the price for the same repair. I called Honda Customer Service and they indicated they were an indenpended shop (complaint is on file) - nothing they could do directly. Read the other posts - you don't want to go to J&J for any level of Honda service.

We purchased a used mower last summer. The salesman said there was nothing to worry about. The mower lasted two uses. We took it back. The staff told us too bad. We bought a used mower. We asked if they would give us credit towards a new mower. They said no since the mower could not be used as a self-propelled mower.

Their attitude stinks. I would never do business with them again. Be very wary of anything they tell you

I bought a STIHL Combi unit configured as an edger over a year ago. The staff at J & J were very helpful and patient. I talked with them over a year before purchasing the STIHL and they were always patient, knowledgeable, and freely shared what they knew. They have been helpful ever since, answering questions, helping me with problems.

This is not a Home Depot kind of place. It is a small, family type of business. Understand that sales are final and they don't offer a carte blanche return policy. They are an excellent business and I will keep returning to them

If you have a Honda mower, this is a very good place to get your mower serviced or to get parts for your mower. The people are nice and knowledgeable. I had bought an air filter there and then later on new bags for the tractor. I arrived once just as they were fixing to close for a long weekend. The door was locked. I knocked on the door and begged to get the part so I could use the mower over the weekend. They let me in to get it. Small things like that go a long way with customers.

PROS: Nice small store with friendly, knowledgeable employees
CONS: Not open late
