This quaint House from the 20's located in Buckhead hosts Hollywood A-listers and Top Executives from all over. I saw Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher on thier 3rd trip to antica posta in a week. Tom Seleck is a regular, as well as most of the CNN executives and Anchors, Just to mention a few. This is a great Atlanta secret that takes the Atliens across to the Atlantic to a house in Tuscany where they get the best of home cooked Italian Meals. I have also heard of Jermain Dupree and Janet Jackson frequenting there. Wine list is amazing. Reserves by the glass include Luce and Tignanello. Everything from the Ravioli with tuscan meat sauce to the Gellatos and Sorbettos are made by this team of outstanding Italian Chefs lead by the Owners Brother Chef Alessandro.

Pros: Best Italian Food in Atlanta!

Cons: Owner is Crazy

.

Terrible service. 2 and 1/2 hours for dinner. No desert. Waiter did not come back after entree was delivered. Food was bad, bad bad. When we spoke to the owner he basically said Sorry but too bad,Very pompous.
I doubt they will be there long. Most uncomfortable chairs on earth.

I dine here from time to time, as the food is well worth it. But I have to agree with some other reviewers' comments regarding the owner. My first experience here was several years back on a date. My date was in the restaurant business and friends with the owner. The owner sat to chat with us for a while...and, well, here's a little history. Much like there's a bit of a yankee versus southern "red" battle here in the US (the site won't let me type red .n.e.c.k.), there's a north versus south issue in Italy. Upon learning that my family is from southern Italy, the owner essentially scoffed at me as if I were red. That said...food is great - owner has no class.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at Antica Posta last night and could not be more satisfied with our restaurant selection. We started off with the seared scallop appetizer. While I am not generally a fan of scallops these were delicous with a lightly crisped outside and great flavor. For my entree I selected the appetizer portion of the spinach and cheese ravioli with tomato sauce (substituted for the meat sauce)and the small plate of the baked sea bass. Both the ravioli and the fresh tomato sauce were wonderful and left me wishing that I had gotten the dinner portion; however, when my sea bass arrived and I took the first bite I quickly forgot about the ravioli. The fish was cooked just right, the seasonings were perfect and it sat atop a bed of spinach cooked with onion and tomato which was a great match for the fish. Perfection! At the recomendation of the waiter my husband ordered the veal chop. He could not stop raving over how tender it was. I am not usually a fan of veal but tasted a bite of his and definitely had to agree that it was top notch. Very tender and the flavor was great. To finish the meal the hostess surprised us with an anniversary dessert and lemoncino. I realize service can differ by the night, but I have to disagree with the ratings posted recently about poor service. From the hostess to the waiter to our server, everyone was friendly and very attentive. We will definitely be returning to Antica Posta.

We've been to Antica Posta several times and each dining experience has been wonderful! The staff is super attentive without being pushy or in-your-face and the food is incredible! Yes the prices are on the high side but in my opinion worth it! Antica Posta is definitely one of our favorite places to go to celebrate a special occasion.

The owner ruins the place. Stay away at all cost. The food is so so. The atmosphere is way to quite for an Italian place. Italians are fun loving happy people. This place would do much better as a uptight French restaurant. After eating there we walked across the street and had the bar staff confirm that we were not the only ones that think the owner makes it a point of being a complete not very nice guy.

Pros: Leaving

Cons: Everything

The remodelled house gives the place a very cozy atmosphere much like you would find in a restaurant in Tuscany. The wine list is a little overwhelming but the staff are very helpful in selecting the right pairing for your meal. The food is well above average although true Tuscan food can only be experienced in Tuscany due to the focus on fresh meats and vegetables which is near impossible in an urban area. The Osso Buco was more like Goulash but I am very picky when it comes to the dish due to my extraordinary ability to cook it myself.

Would definitely recommend

Excellent. We always wind up spending more than we expect, but the food is really good and so is the service. If you want a great Italian meal, check this out.

I had a friend in town and it was Valentine's Day...oh well....we needed to find a good place to eat that was not so jammed packed or had a priced-fixed meal "for two" ! We came across Antica Posta at the recommendation of her beauty salon and it was perfectly wonderful ! We sat in the part of the restaurant that housed the bar and it was delightful. Busy but not so noisy that you could not talk. Had a wonderful waiter and great steak and pasta and wine. It was a great experience and I look forward to going back for another good meal !

I had some of the best Italian food in the city here. The atmosphere is very romantic. The food isn't cheap but it's definitely worth it. The owner seemed very friendly. In my experience, restaurant owners tend to hide in the back...if they're even at the restaurant at all. Antica's owner makes it a point to get to know all his customers. I think more restaurants should be run like that.

Had an above average experience at Antica Posta. The layout is charming. Great service. Excellent wine list. Real Italian flavors and true expressions of the dishes came a bit short.

We found this restaurant a couple days after relocating to Atlanta and made a reservation online for Easter Sunday. Turned out the restaurant had opened earlier than usual and therefore was closing early. The owner called us to let us know, but it was so late that he offered (insisted, actually) to stay open late for us. The server (Hector) was fantastic, Marco (the owner) was so friendly and gracious, and the food was exceptional. Highly recommend this restaurant for great food and service - we'll definitely be back!

I used to think that I'd have to travel to Tuscany, which I am in love with, in order to get authentic Tuscan food. I have dined in many high end Italian restaurants in Atlanta, but none of them quite satisfied my palette. That's until 2 years ago for Christmas Eve ....my sister convinced me to try Antica Posta.....Result: I've been hooked ever since. I have brought many friends to Antica Posta and all of them loved it....I have celebrated my birthday, Christmas Eve, New Year's, and had business dinners at Antica Posta and never have been dissapointed. I have to admit that it can get a bit crowded on busy nights, but the price is quite minimal for what you get in return. The restaurant is cozy and it feels more like home than a business place. The food is amazing.....my favorites being the fagioli, the caprese salad, the veal sausages - for appetizers, tagliata (my no. 1), sea bass, swordfish, and the veal chop for the main course, and of course - pana cotta, torta della nonna(when they have it), and the nougat ice cream as far as dessert goes.....to be honest, I neved get bored....they have specials on their menu every time I go....so if I want to try something new.....there's always that option. As far as their wine list goes....it's endless....and I have never found high end wines so afordable.....I mean....they have my favorite wine - Tignanello at less than half the price the other restaurants have it...I always know that they have the best wines at the best prices. As far as service goes.....I don't know why the other individuals who write reviews are so full of hate.....that "brunette with accent" is one of my favorites....all the staff is very professional and attentive....they have always treated me, my family, and my friends with respect and friendliness. If you think about it....why would it be so busy, if it were such a bad place? I continue to love Antica Posta for its food, wine(especially), and of course.....the service. I will always be a regular!

All i can say people be aware of the head waitress over there shes more like a jail warden and i dont know who gave her the right to treat the customers like dirt. i ve been in the restaurant last weekend and believe me i was shocked by her attitude and rudeness i thought like we signed in a certain boot camp program, whenever we ask her for something she ll be shaking either her head or the shoulders and all started when we didn?t get an expensive wine she was trying to sell us even though she couldn?t give us a decent explanation about its grape or taste all she said its "good" ,come on , if u cant describe a bottle of wine u trying to sell better shut up or go do ur homework first...
ps: i believe she?s the same girl the other review talked about , a brunette with an accent .

I wish I had read the reviews first. If I had I ould not have eaten here - lesson learned. The food was good but service aweful - just like all the other reviewers say. The non-english speaking server could not have been more disinterested unless he was asleep. I saw craziness in the kitchen through the open window - the chef was sceaming about something. And the owner - please - he needs to button his shirt and quite only talking to the scantiilly clad women at the bar. He never came by our table. Too bad he could have made it right and turned us into customerrs. Instead we will never return.

I dine out in fine dining at least twice a week for work and pleasure. What I expect for what I pay is good food and good service. I have been to Antica Posta before and always had an OK experience - never exceptional. However, this last time was the nail in the coffin. The food was mediocre at best but the service was aweful. Not only were they unattentive and unintersted, they were also very slow. Clearly the owner is aware of the situation because I actually heard the owner yell at the severs!! How unprofessional! That restaurant should be so embarrassed. Ok food, bad service and yelling in front of guests. That is enough for them to never get any more of my money!

been there the food was great but we didn?t have the chance to enjoy it. We had the luck to be served by one of the rudest people in town. Our waitress( a brunette .. i don?t remember her name and i don?t want to)did all she could to ruin our anniversary night for the only reason that she was a little busy in her section which wasn?t our fault any way, I could understand if she kept a little smile when we asked her for a clean wine glass since mine had a lip print on it and we could wait a few minute.. instead she just gave us a mean look and walked away acting like she didn?t hear a thing. When we tried to order we tried to get her to explain some of the specials and with the same attitude she was going through the items like we were some creepy people or unwelcome guests. after that she disappeared till the time we had to pay showing up with bill ..long story short we will never come back there and if it happened that u stop by avoid that girl or u ll regret to..

Been a couple of times... One visit was amazing!! Ordered the filet, and was one of the best I have ever tasted!!! Another time I was there was not so great. The food was average and pricey, not worth the money at all. The service was great both times, so that is a plus. I am worried about going back and spending that kind of money for a below average meal.

First time there, it seemed cozy but not warm enough for the winter brushing cold outside. The wine was good, so was the appetizer. The servers were very attentive and courteous. The restaurant just had that "little Italy feeling" inside. This place was recognized as one of the best in Atlanta, I prefer others. My pasta was a little too salty and the noodles seemed a little harder than usual. This is not one of my favorites, but I did enjoy my dinner and the place itself. Perfect for couples, I was surrounded by them!

I agree with all the people that had a very very very bad time out at Antica Posta. I would love to wright about it but I'm so lost for words. Not only I would not go there again I'm tring not to drive by that area. The owner whatever he calls himself that's at the door when you walk in, some people can wright a book about. He should really remove himself from that place I think he thinks he's more important the people that have kept his place alive for so long.

Lets just say, hypotheticaly if I could rename this italian eatery I would call it "sleazy". The clientle is very posh do to the location and price range, but Im sure most of the people would not eat dinner there if they didn't have some big wig paying for it. I think the food is good, however not worth the price. I overheard a conversation that I should not have been listening to, and it was between employees. I believe the server was mentioning that they were quiting and the reason behind should be left unsaid. My word of advice is read all the reviews, and really pay attention to your bill and what you ordered. Im sure if anyone gets bad service in Antica Posta it should not fall on the weight of the servers, it should fall on the shoulders of the owner Mr.Betti. If you do decide to have dinner I hope you never encounter this man, he is only pleasant if you have a black american express, or a large chest.

My husband and I visited this place and were greeted by a very attentive valet. Our server was equally attentive--one of the best we've ever had. The olive oil served with the bread tastes delicious--imported from Italy and very peppery--and the food was just as good. If the server recommends something, try it. The chef is truly in touch with flavor combinations and the meats are superb.

This place used to be great. My husband and I used to visit once a month or so. In the last year it has become increasingly worst and after our last visit we will not return. The bartenders that used to be ther were wonderful. After 2 visits we walked in the door and she had our drinks ready. The bartenders now would not notice you if you were on fire - not to mention there is a different once every time we visit. The service in the dining room has gotten continually worse. I understand their stress however after watching the owner berate them in front of everyone. He is definately rules with an iron fist. The food is still good but not as good as it used to be a year ago. Between the decline in the service and the food we will not be back.

This past Saturday night, I celebrated by 39th. Birthday once again. And I wanted Italian. Something comforting about Italian. Antica Posta, on East Paces fit the bill. It's in one of those tiny little houses, that fit snuggly around Maple Drive. A beautiful bar area awaited us, with perfect dirty Grey Martini's. The little dining rooms are tight, but beautifully arranged. Close enough, so I could see my neighbors entrees arriving, and trying to decide from this very creative Tuscan menu. Upon our waiters suggestion, we started with Crostini w/Chicken Liver Sauce. I was in heaven, with the rich velvety chicken livers. Visions of my long ago childhood came into focus, and I realized it was 39 again for me. The Caprese Salads were a perfect cleansing. I had a devine Osso Bucco, and this veal shank was seared perfectly and was served with flavorful roasted potatoes. I can't forget an app. of Gnocchi, little homemade dumplings w/sauteed Asparagus. My companion had the most tender Veal Scalloppini ever. The owner, Marco Betti, came by the table for a birthday salute. And with that, Chef Alessando came out of the kitchen with an Italian Creame Birthday Cake. This is one Birthday Dinner Party I won't forget soon. This place is terrific, for any occassion!

Pros: Creative Tuscan Menu! Wonderful Owner & Chef!

Cons: Parking Is Always Tight In This Part Of Buckhead!

I have to agree with the other reviewer when I say don't always trust reviewers. To review a restaurant on ANY holiday is not fair, anyone that is in the business knows that. I recently visited Antica Posta on a busy night and had a great experience. Our server was very nice and seemed to know alot about the restaurant--I believe her name was Sonya. Regardless the food was great, and it reminded me of true Italian food. No fuss, just quality fare and the freshest ingredients at a good price. The olive oil is the best I've had in America. It is truely a diamond in the ruff among so many others in Buckhead. The restaurant is in an old house, and while it it might be a little noisy, it has so much charm. I had a great experience and plan to go back very soon. I would not even compare this place to other Italian restaurants in the area. It is different, but in a good way. At this place you can sit and be merry, and have limencello sent to your table if you are lucky.

Cons: dining room tight, but cozy and a little cold

I have never written a review about a restaurant before. I have decided after my experience at Antica Posta I may start looking at other people's experiences before choosing a restaurant I have not been to before and also give my review, positive or negative. We went to the restaurant early to avoid the crowd. The waitress at Antica Posta was very indifferent and unattentive to our table which was downstairs. When we first arrived there was only one other table seated, but it still took forever to get drinks or hear the specials. In the waitresses defense, by the end of the night it seemed like she was waiting on the entire downstairs section which was too big for her to handle(six tables total - three large tables and three four tops). I had the Gnocchi, which I always order when I see it on a menu and my friend had the crab and bowtie pasta dish. Both dishes had very little taste and as an experienced Gnocchi eater, I was very disappointed. As someone who loves to eat out and loves Italian food, I don't believe I will go to this restaurant again for dinner with all the other great Italian restaurants in Atlanta and in the 30305 zip code. They did seem to have a nice bar area and may visit again for a cocktail, but not for food.

Pros: Parking attendant was very pleasant, seemed to have a nice bar.

Cons: Food, service, downstairs area was too loud!

I went out to eat at Antica Posta last night and I have to say I was extremely disappointed. The food was not good and the service was even worse. It took forever to get our food and even longer to get the check after we had finished. One of the other waiters must have sensed our irritation and gave us a free dessert because of how long we were waiting. We sat downstairs and it was so loud, we couldn't have a conversation. I had heard good things about this restaurant, but I will not be returning.

Our waitress was very indifferent to our group and we were crammed in with several tables in a high traffice area. It was difficult to get much detailed info from her about the menu...she didn't sell us on anything. She couldn't tell us if the meatball appetizer would be enough of all 6 of us. Not much more info on the risotto. We waited for our check & to pay. We had an early reservations so it wasn't a peak time. She didn't engage us in any conversation-no personality. Didn't seem to care if we liked the place.
The food was good, but not great. We did bring our own wine which is a plus but we have had much more attentive servcie and better food at other local Italian restaurants. I wouldn't go again unless frinds really wanted to go there. Amalfi in Roswell (formerly Sal's) is much better servicr & food. Ditto La Grotta.

Pros: Could be cute/romantice but the tables are too close together for the wait staff to pass through

Cons: Lackluster service, lack of enthusiasm

Reading other reviews makes me think one thing: you can't trust reviews! Having said that, I love restaurants, travel and food ... when I travel I rely on information from the locals and keep my fingers crossed that the whiney and self-important failed to log on and do what they do best: complain. I want anybody from out of town (non-Atlantans) to know that Antica Posta is a jewel. A lovely old house updated with a warm and friendly bar and open patio is the setting. Yes, it is small, but I think its numerous, frequent and loyal patrons view that as a plus. The amazing food outweighs seeing waiters vye for space between tables. On my visits, the staff has been nothing but overhwhelmingly helpful, calm and prof. I've had delicious meals at the hands of Marco and Gianni in a cozy atmosphere. Also, my company holds annual & flawless holiday parties there. I can't find an entree that disappoints. Since dessert is my least favorite thing in any spot I say with vehemence: do not miss the Grandmother's Cake - it defies definition but is both succulent and not too sweet. If you must order the tired Tiramasu dessert dish, their's is top of that barrel. This restaurant is small, "tight" in service ("tight" is a good thing), and no-nonsense (as in straightforward). If you want a delicious meal with a varied wine list in a comfortable setting look no further. Whiners should go straight to The Cheesecake Factory or some other chain where they belong. I am an individual who lives in the same zip code as Antica Posta. Atlanta has many fine restaurants and Antica Posta is perfect if you find yourself in Buckhead on business or otherwise. PLUS: provides a warm, Tuscan and romantic environment but I think it would be dimwitted to assess any restaurant on Valentine's, New Years or other made-up holidays. If you get a bad meal or service here - give them another chance - trust me that had to be a fluke.

I also went on Valentine's Day and waited over an hour for my table. Dinner took us 3 hours from the time we arrived to the time we got in our car. In all that time we probably only saw our server hmm maybe 3 times and were only able to have 1 glass of wine b/c he never offered to get us another!!! I thought I was going to eat my hand until he finally brought us our bread. I wanted to end with dessert but after waiting 30 minutes for dessert and coffee it never arrived. Instead the waiter brought us our check! Everyone was unhappy with the service. I wrote a page long letter to the owner detailing our horrible experience but naturally I never heard anything back. It amazes me that they have been around so long. My friend actually called to ask me if I had written one of the other reviews b/c it sounded exactly like my experience I had told her about. I canceled two other reservations that night and was so excited to take my fiance there for dinner but I was kicking myself for not going somewhere else! This place does not deserve your business. I plan to spread the word. Who wants to dine somewhere that has such an arrogant owner/host and horrible service and on top of that pay $$$$$$$ for it! I'd rather buy some Ragu and make it myself!

How difficult is it to provide average Italian fare, especially when you are running a limited menu to an underwhelming crowd of patrons on as special an evening as NEW YEARS EVE ? Antica Posta disrespected its old and NEW customers on this night through poor quality food from beginning to end. Sharing the owner's Italian heritage, I was embarrassed for them but should have rather been angry considering the price we payed for our meals. Details: Bread sticks/crackers were stale ! The few tiny hunks of soft bread masquerading as the hearty bread that Tuscany is known for was mproved by the olive oil provided for dipping. Appetizers:the seared scallops were tasty, but others were misses: seafood salad was fishy, buffalo mozzarella ( watery ) and prosciutto had zero flavor and no personality. Entrees were served on cold plates yet ! Lobster and bowties in white wine suffered from lack of seasoning and the turbot filets with a side of chopped greens appeared to be straight out of the frozen foodcase. Veal shank was passable w/most of its flavor hidden under a soupy oniony/carrot gravy - with flavors no longer bright . Needing a lift , we ordered 3 different desserts thinking that we'd improve our evening via these palate antidepressants. The crowd pleaser: pear raisin studel - excellent. but Gelato was not the rich confection it can be, flavor was not deep but 1 dimensional, like light ice cream. Italian nougat ice cream: pretty but dense without being melt in your mouth satisfying. At this point I was worried that perhaps the real Antica Posta had been hijacked by amateurs and was being held for ransom; but the reality is that quality provisions and creative cooking were absent on New Years Eve 2006 (and the owners are surely laughing all the way to the bank ). One good word, Tomas was a great and happy server and we were pleased to provide him a generous tip. On the other hand, Antica Posta will have to pay us doubletime to take a meal with them again.

Pros: service great

Cons: Low quality provisions, attention to detail, small dessert portions.

The service was top notch! I did the most unfortunate thing in that I locked my keys in my car, which caused their driveway to be blocked during peek Friday evening hours. The valet, maitre' de, the manager were so kind to my partner and I considering what happened. The evening was a calamity of errors!! The waiter spilled water all over me and my designer coat. However they totally made up for it. They gave us dessert on the house!! The meal and dessert was fabulous!! I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant to everyone!!

A very cozy restaurant that serves wonderful Italian food. Definitely a place to eat if you crave a full, zesty Italian meal. The service is very professional and on top of things. However, the seating can be a bit cramped. Some tables along the wall are extremely close to each other, and make it feel as though you're entruding on other people's conversations and vice versa.

The service was great! My boyfriend and I went on a Tuesday night, not much of a crowd which was great. The service was exceptional and I am very particuliar. I had the Lobster bowtie pasta with wine sauce (the special) was fantastic. The pasta was cooked just right not to hard not to soft, just enough lobster, it is light dish and the portions are just right. My boyfriend had the veal chop, he said it was one of the best veal chops he has has in a long time. Our waiter Jose, was perfect.

Antica Posta has many flaws that take away from the dining experience. The dining room is crowded with waiters running into each other. Also, the dining room really has no decor to speak of.

The food is was pretty good, however there was no attempt to be seasonal which is the essence of Italian cooking. No homemade breads, no unique olive oils and no homemade pasta. Ten years ago, this place would have been great. But with Atlanta's restaurant scene maturing, there are many better places to eat Italian.

One of the few really good Italian restaurants in Atlanta. Food is very authentic and the service is good (one waitress was irritating but usually the service is good). Every dish tried was excellent except the Lobster pasta is mediocre. Will be back!

This is one of the best Northern Italian restaurants. I don't recommend the pasta dishes, but the rest of the menu is outstanding. The one pasta dish that is excellent is the Lobster risotto or bow tie pasta which if not a special can always be ordered. We get it as a side dish or a starter. It is excellent. I highly recommend the tagliatti, the lamb, the shrimp, the steak in Balsamic vinegar and the swordfish. I don't know anyone who has eaten here and not loved the restaurant. We often take customers and out of town guests and they love it!!!

We went to this restaurant after I came back from an Italy trip.I wanted to try a different restaurant to compare with the others I've been. The food was excellent and very tuscan and everything from the wine to dessert were perfect. We had a very strange waiter that wasn't very knowledgable and was all over us!Also we found the prices way to high for a restaurant like this that claims to be "a family" restaurant.I guess the location must be their excuse.I'll probably be back only if my company pays for my dinner.I can find great food elsewhere without paying astronomical prices like we did here.
