Love Burkharts Pub!!! My partner and I have made it the destination of our Friday night date night. Anthony, James and RJ treats us like kings and it makes us feel so comfortable. You can tell the owner puts back into his business as constant upgrades are a welcomed surprise! The menu and the cook ROCK!!! I have NEVER been to a bar or pub that serves steaks which are steakhouse quality if not better and cooked to perfection, the price of dinner is unheard of and the drinks are tailored to us when we order them. Most amazingly we hardly have to go to the bar, our great bartenders come check on us frequently. This is my #1 pick! Love ya Burkharts!!!

This was a nice place to go if you ever want to see a GOOD drag show. They all performed wonderfully. The place was a little to crowded for my taste though. You had to push your way up to get a good view of the show. It is a fun place though.

I was visiting Atlanta about 3 years ago and went to Burkharts but there was nobody there on a Saturday night. Then a few weekends ago I was visiting some friends who said we had to go to Burkharts on a Saturday night--I was like "Are you sure?" When we got there, there was a line out the door. Your new host was hysterical and we all had so much fun. Glad to see you turn it around.

I moved here last month from Tampa and I have to say after surveying the scene, Burkharts is hot!! I've never been too big on drag cause of how rude a lot of them can be but Mary Edith is self depricating and hysterical! You can tell she loves the people and loves what she does. I introduced myself to her after a show and she took the time to talk to me and tell me how much she appreciated me being there. I really do feel like one of the family. Keep up the good work!!

Pros: The best drag in the city! Mary Edith Pitts is hysterical

Cons: Too much smoke at times; Sometimes a line to get in on the weekends.

We walked into the bar and was suprised to see so many people, we had no idea that there was a drag show going on, we went upstairs to get a drink, and see the layout of the bar. It was pretty interesing to see the bathrooms on the second floor, and i was also outside. we were unable to enjoy the patio area, but the drinks I thought were resonably priced. We then had to stand on the stairs to see the drag show, which I thought was pretty entertaining. Be careful not to stand against the wall on the stairs, someone might accidently kick a drink glass down onto you. There was not much room to dance, but if you are persisant enough you can make room. The people seemed to be nice, and there was not alot of attitdude.

That woman complaining about the doorman probably did not have an ID, besides she would have freaked out about the nasty womens room. Anyways, talk about fun!! My friends and I got together there a few weekends ago and had a blast!! I had to come back to get my car the next day. (It was actually safe in the lot). I would recommend the place to anybody white black gay straight male female because for the money (no cover, free parking, CHEAP good food) you can't beat it in Atlanta. The place is so cool, the layout has obviously had a good deal of thought put into it. We go to Blakes from time to time to see Kitty buy honestly that blimp drag queen Ruby Red is mad at her own mama....downer, anyhow, Burkharts is cool and so are the guys that hang there.

Some of our community was just in Burkharts on Sunday, a few ladies and a few gentlemen, no-one gave us any problems like stated in a review on this page. This is mostly a gentlemen's gay club, but women are not treated badly.

Cons: No Cons

Burkhart's is a really fun place with little attitude. BUT there's a serious problem when you have a doorman who blatantly discriminates against women. I am shocked that a gay bar employs a doorman who would be insensitive about selective admittance based on an objective thing like gender. To top that, his high and mighty attitude left me feeling completely unwelcome. I don't think I'll be back and I'll be sure to share my negative experience with my many gay and lesbian friends. I am truly saddened by the lack of caring in a time when Atlanta's city government seems to be pressuring so many gay establishments to close. I wish Burkhart's the best, but I cannot return until I'm confident that they have ended their discriminatory ways.

Pros: It's a fun place with a friendly, non-judgemental crowd

Cons: The doorman was as descriminatory and rude

.

Great entertainment (checkout Mary Edith Pitts and/or the Armorettes), plenty of room to twirl or mingle, great music, great food value. Mostly middle-aged crowd, but plenty of others to choose from. Main room w/ bar and show area, large balcony area overlooking, 2 separate bar rooms, pool tables, Blackjack (no gambling!), big beautiful patio to enjoy Southern men on those balmy evenings! Bring your parasol, have a mint julep and have fun!

I keep on reading about no attitude here. Yes the crowd is super relaxed and easy going. I have enjoyed the staff as well until thrown out last week for having a little non-harmful fun. Guess what, I stepped behind the bar as a dare from friends (come on, its a bar for godsake, how serious can you take it) and was thrown out, but not just asked to leave (which I totally agreed with and take full responsability), but I was "escorted" through the main show area, and publically humilited as the point was made repeatidly that I was bwing thrown out and of course had to be pointed out to the door man that I was not allowed to return (at the top of the staff's lungs for all to hear) Thanks guys, wouldn't return anyways.....

Pros: layed back - easy going crowd

Cons: staff needs to lighten up and allow the guests to have some unrestricted fun

.

It is really neat to drop in an old nightclub and see a lot of what it was and still keeping up with the times. The staff was mostly friendly and sober! Not really into drag queens but the ones that were there entertaining were lots of fun. Plenty of hot guys and plenty of places to hide with them. Had a great time.

Pros: Great food, great drinks, clean bar

Cons: drag, not enough tv's, day bartender is a drunk

.

This place isn't perfect but it's got something for almost everyone. If you go alone, your chances of meeting someone here are better than anywhere else. I have found it to be a mostly middle-aged crowd however from what I understand that's not always the case. Not what I would call cruisy but like I keep saying, this is as good as it's gonna get. The outdoor patio is cozy and comfortable. I'm not surprised everyone likes this place. They have the formula for success. Around midnight to 1am on Saturday is when I think you will find the crowd to peak.

I saw all of the reviews about this $4.75 steak dinner so I went toBurkharts and ordered it. It was better than what I have had at many steakhouses! It was cooked exactly how I ordered it and had a generous side of vegetables and fries. I've never had a meal this good at a bar before. This was truly a find! Burkharts is a really a very friendly pub. The outside garden patio is very relaxing.

Burkharts just keeps getting better all the time. The introduction of the new bar menu with the famous $4.75 steak dinner is more reason to visit this landmark gay pub. The service is always friendly. The drinks are strong and inexpensive. The outside patio is an intown oasis; it's a great place to relax with friends on a Sunday afternoon beofre catching the evenings entertainment inside the bar. This has to be my favorite pub in Atlanta.

It's not an urban legend, it's fact. Burkhart's Pub serves up a delicous and huge 10oz strip steak dinner including steak fries and steamed fresh vegetables for only $4.75. This is one of the best meal deals in Atlanta or anywhere for that matter. And Burkharts has one of the best outdoor patios of any pub in Atlanta. If you have not been to Burkhart's lately, you absolutely have to go, if even just for the steak dinner.

I've been going to Burkhart's Pub on virtually a daily basis for about the last 6 years. My other half and I prefer the "after work" crowd because the bar isn't too loud or too crowded. The bartenders and bar-backs are very accommodating, the prices are great and the drinks are potent. We've literally met dozens of friends there, and are always ready to make new ones!

Burkharts is just your quintessential friendly gay neighborhood pub. The look of the bar has not changed since I first started going here 12 years ago, and many of the same smiling faces behind the bar are still there too. You simply cannot beat this pub for value; strong drinks and draft beer at great prices, and probably the best value on a steak dinner in Atlanta. Karaoke with Kitty is incredible; just wished it started before 1am.

Burkhart's Pub can be quite busy on weekends and late night ... but is a great place to go after work, or on off nights. I particularly love the outdoor patio area behind the bar. A "quite" place (among the techno disco that prevails at night) and a good place to be alone with a special someone. I also enjoy the little TV bar (behind the front bar on the way to the patio) on EMMY, OSCAR, and TONY type nights. Usually not crowded (though the rest of the bar is) and without the disco speakers. Fun to hear the crowd "dish" the outfits of the celebs.

I have lived in Atlanta for a few years now and still Burkharts remains the standard for a cool place to hang out and party without all the drama queens and prep boys with their attitudes. I love the place...went there then....go there now...

I definitely agree that the B is a great neighborhood bar. What more could you ask for? No cover, cheap drinks, friendly people, great music and a fun time. This is a great bar for your first gay bar experience. The Christmas & New Years decorations are always great too!

I like burkharts because most of the boys that go there are just themselves and not a bunch of jaded water-waists. The steak dinner is totally kick-ass and the crew are just themselves, fun, freaky, and full of old fashion cheer...LOVE THE PLACE
