Good food, not amazing though. I'm not really sure how I feel about the big confederate flag, but we enjoyed our breakfast. My husband asked me if I wanted to go back and I would have if it were closer to town. The server was friendly and breakfast had nice portions. Didn't blow me away, but I wasn't disappointed either.

This "Cafe" is much more than your normal cafe. This is a great restaurant for social and business lunches during the day and then fine dining at night. The O.K. has been serving Atlanta for over 20 years and really caters to all type of crowds while serving up the best in Southern hospitality. For an average dinner you'll drop $30 per couple. I recommend their Weekend Brunch.

I have been to the OK Cafe about 3 times and the food was excellent! However, the last time I was there both the Meatloaf and the Pot Roast was horrible. The Meatloaf that use to have a meaty and hearty texture tasted like it had too many fillers and not enough meat. The Pot Roast was dry, stringy and tough. I don't know whether or not they have new cooks, but compared to my visits before this, I was surprised and very disappointed. Especially so, because I had raved about it so much to my friends and brought a guest with me. She said she never wanted to go back.
Ok Cafe: For the sake of customers like me, who love to cook and know what good food is suppose to taste like, STEP IT UP!

OK Cafe is a neighborhood favorite for families. It's great for brunch too, but be prepared to wait on weekends, as it is very popular! Reasonably priced for the huge portions you get - usually $20-30 for a couple. Fast service, and the servers have always been friendly and helpful.

The sweet tea was the best I've ever had! I ordered the turkey and dressing dinner which was mostly good. What bothered me was the dressing had green pepper in it and the cranberry sauce had crunchy things added to it--not exactly my taste. But overall it was a good meal and I'd stop there again in the future. Food was organic and they offered a few items for vegetarians, too.

If you want some good food that tastes like mamma used to make, try OK Cafe. They have good southern food at reasonable prices. You can also use their take out service.

I love this restaurant! For good ole' Southern country cooking, this is an excellent place! And the price is great because you get so much food, you can make another meal out of left overs!

The restaurant itself is good, with reasonable prices and quality food. (Though I wish they'd get rid of the huge Confederate flag in the main dining room.)

The take-out is definitely overpriced for what it offers. They charge by the pound, which can really add up quickly. Expect to pay at least the same as what you'd pay in the restaurant, except for food that's been sitting out a while. But if you've got a thick wallet, then the take-out is wonderful!

Great family place. Fast service. Friendly waiters and waitresses. The pot roast is great and the cornbread muffins are, too. A great place for take out or eat in.

I can never get enough of this restaurant!

The prices are fantastic for the amount of food you receive, the staff is always generous and friendly - I have never had a bad server. Great choices for meat eaters (Blue Platter specials) and vegetarians like myself alike. Even choices for kids, who will love the fun and crazy environment as much as the amazing macaroni and cheese. Other menu items include Crab and Crawfish Cakes, Fried Chicken, and incredible Meatloaf.

Despite being right off of the 75 West Paces Ferry exit, the wait time is relatively small. I do reccomend arriving earlier or later than "normal" dinner time as the place can get packed.

All in all this is a great restaurant for families and couples alike - Definitely try it out!

First of all, I would like to say that I am a southerner
and, overall, it was a descent experience and my son enjoyed himself.

Now to my review:
My child chose this place for his 10th birthday dinner. I had the BBQ sandwich, black eye peas, greens and cornbread muffin. Dessert was the chocolate cake. The sandwich was okay and the peas and cornbread were good. Though the greens were good, they had too many stems on them. But the real reason I am writing this review is the chocolate cake.
Now I have a BIG sweet tooth and I am a baker. I took my cake to go. When I got home and began to eat it, I was very disappointed. It was cold, hard, and lacked good taste. It was not fresh or moist. I have had better cake at Piccadilly.

You have got to be kidding ... almost 5 stars?! This place is proof that Southerners will eat anything you put in front of them. I too have had the "chicken pot pie;" this is really chicken soup with a crouton. Yesterday I had to attend a meeting at this place and ordered biscuits and gravy (how do you screw this up?); I have had better biscuits and gravy at Cracker Barrel! The food here is very basic and lackluster; just what Southerners like. For those of you who have traveled, experienced life and know what good food is, you will be disappointed by the mediocrity of the food and ambiance. OK Cafe survives, much to the dismay of anyone north of the Mason-Dixon Line, by its overrated reputation among Southerners ... period! In simplistic terms ... don't bother.

We had out-of town friends passing through today who wanted "Atlanta Cuisine." We reluctantly suggested OK Cafe, mostly due to it's convenience from I-75. It had been 4 years since our last less-than-impressive experience here so we thought we would give it another try. We quickly regretted the decision.

This is not a family friendly restaurant. We were shocked to discover that there was no children's menu. Nor are there any changing tables in the restrooms. We had our children split a plate and had to ask for extra plates. Surely the server should have anticipated this. We requested a high-chair from the host/hostess, but did not receive one until long after we had been seated and had to ask our server. And, it was a dirty booster seat that only further crowded the tiny booths.

The food is average. I ordered (the overpriced) Chicken Pot Pie. It's a puffed pastry on top of a soupy creamed-chicken base. Nothing special. My wife had the grouper sandwich and fries and was not impressed with either. The Sweet Potato chips (appetizer -- WAY overpriced) were greasy and arrived AFTER our main dishes.

Our two older children (9 and 7) were seating a booth right next to ours with our friends three children (ages 7, 5 and 4). That in itself was not a problem, but the server had the nerve to clear the childrens' plates without asking the parents if they were finished or if we would like a box. My son happened to be in the restroom and said he was not done.

There are too many good places in Atlanta to get southern cuisine at a reasonable price with great service. The OK Cafe is NOT one of them.

The prices are NOT low, contrary to a previous review.

The OK cafe should change their name to the Fantastic cafe, because that's how our experience was. The food is really good and the service is exceptional. To top it all off, the prices are really low. You can get a great meal for 2 for $40 or less.

Pros: lots of food

Cons: wait, but worth the wait

I appreciated the quantity and quality of the food. Plenty to take home and at a price that didn't break the bank. $30 for a couple...at their quality is unheard of.

The staff was very pleasant. I enjoyed their attention to detail.

The parking is not good, the wait is not good, the service is not even that good, but the food is tasty! The sweet potato chips are delicious - get two orders and a sweet tea and you're set! The food is southern in nature but slightly off-center to appeal to those looking for something different. OK Cafe is OK by us!

Hey!!! You got to check this place out. I found this is a one of a kind place in Buckhead. Apparently everyone in Atlanta has found it cause it was packed.

Walking in, your greeted with a blast of Souther aroma and an atmosphere where "Everything's OK!" I enjoyed a plate packed with fresh veggies, with NO MEAT, as I am a vegetarian; I'm greatfull for that! My guest however devoured Country Fried Steak accompanied by two veggies. Dessert, one was enough; there are plenty of selections to satisfy every taste....ice cream, banana royal, chocolate, coconut and carrot cake...pies....shakes... The service was gracious and attentive.

Check this place out! It will be worth your while.

I have been to OK Cafe many times but never previously ordered anything fried. I am allergic to shellfish so when I sat down and saw the list of proclamations of quality food which included:

No MSG
Bread baked fresh daily
Organic Meet only
Eggs Prepared Fresh
Only Canola Oil used in frying
Only Olive Oil used in cooking

I was reassured I would have no problem making a simple request that my french fries be cooked in oil not used for shellfish. WRONG...VERY WRONG. I was informed they have one big vat in which anything fried in the restaurant is place - shellfish, french fries, fish, vegetables..everything and they would not be able to grant my request.

I was shocked to be sure. This is not a greasy spoon. Desptie it's down home cooking atmosphere..it is pricey. Yet, they throw everything you ordered fried into the same vat of oil. YUCK. If any of you are vegetarians, I am afraid ordering a vegetable platter isn't going to do you much good if any of the vegetables are fried. And..if you are like me and have an allergy to shellfish WATCH OUT!

No matter what time of day you go here there is always a wait, but there is good reason for that. There service and food are excellent. I think the longest we waited is 25 minutes, so it is not too bad. The wait staff is very friendly and the restaurants decor is a mix of country and urban.

For breakfast we love the omelette and the pancakes are huge so be ready. For dinner we like to get the chilli and split a vegetable plate or roast.
The only complaint is whatever you order it seems to take some time to arrive, but it is worth it.

I've been to OK Cafe about 1/2 dozen times. I love every single dish they serve. The food is superb southern fare that is well worth the trip, no matter what part of the city you live in. I've had the country fried steak, meatloaf, pot-roast, chicken pot-pie, roast turkey with gravy, and the rocket burger. Loved every dish. The meatloaf has to be the best meatloaf I've ever eaten bar none. Their sweet potato chips with blue cheese dressing is a must! Just gotta try it. Their shakes are also yummie! I've taken out of town guests I love it so much. The only draw back I can say is that when it's busy, it's kind of noisy. That puts a damper on table conversation, but the food makes it all worth while. Mmm mmm.

Wow what a sleeper. From scratch comfort food and the healthy menu offerings is a bonus. The carry out is fast, easy and really good food. Enough to last several meals. Must be the best Squash Casserole in Atlanta, maybe even anywhere. Servers are cute, retro 50's style and paid attention to every detail. In and out in under an hour. The OK Cafe is a great find and we'll be back.

My girlfriend and I went to the OK Cafe this past Saturday and I found out about it on Citysearch. Not only did the menu on the website tell you everything they offered but the food was very good. Our server was so so but the other servers made up for it. The atmosphere is real 70's, the short skirt with apron and the only thing missing is the roller skates, its like a page out of Happy Days. In short it is a nice place to dine, just beware of crowds.

I love this place because, aside from waiting to be seated, the service is quick, the food is consistently delicious, and it's open late at night, and early in the morning, for the after-club crowd BOUND to be hungry after all that Buckhead partying. This is, by far, my favorite alternative to Waffle House or Ihop.

I love the OK Cafe when I'm in the mood for good, consistant comfort food like mom used to make. I eat there several times a year and have never had a bad meal. The triple cheese macaroni and corn muffins are wonderful as is the turkey platter. Healthier choices like salads are available. The wait can be long on early weekend evenings when the families dine. After 9 pm, I usually get in with no wait. The service is alwasy cheerful and quick. Make sure to top off the meal with a thick milkshake and a half.

Where does one go the day after Christmas, after having one of the best Holiday Dinners, at the sublime Grand China, and with a warm Saki hangover? Go to where everything is O.K. It had been serveral years since our last visit, so we just wrote our name on the wait-list like everyone else, and had a cup of coffee. It wasn't long before a big-haired waitress, led us to our table. I think she was Flo's step-daughter. First thing was a healthy Shake of Strawberry, Banana, and Apple. Real nurishment back in the system. Next was a super omelette with Avacado, Monterey Jack Sprouts, and topped with a dollop of Sour Cream. Thank goodness, we are now back in the world of the living. Oh and I forgot about the wonderful cheese grits and homemade biscuit. Everything was really great and super O.K.

This bustling spot by the governor's mansion is a center for good food! While breakfast is just okay, the lunch was superb--especially the turkey platter. It's really crowded around lunch time, so go there for an early breakfast or a late lunch. It's definitely a great place.

Pros: Food, Price

Cons: Crowded

The food was good and tasted fresh. Not a huge selection, but the menu did offer food items you don't get everywhere. (Squash casserole). We were not offered a children's menu for our two young children; nor a highchair for our toddler who found it difficult to reach the table to eat. I certainly would not make the long drive again to eat here, but if I were in the area, I could certainly see myself getting takeout. It did seem pricey for a family of four.

I LOVE the OK take away... perfect for a quick lunch on a busy work day. The food always looks fresh as opposed to some buffet style places, and you are in and out in less than ten minutes! Great comfort foord healthy options also with the salad bar!

My dad and I stopped into the OK Cafe for lunch this afternoon. I've passed it many times before, and from the outside it doesn't look like the most appealing place. However it was very good. It's a place I would definitely go back to, and it's a perfect distance from buckhead and downtown Atlanta. It makes for a great deal when coming home from a concert, or late event which I tend to do quite frequently. Oh and get their grilled cheese, it's goooood!

I went to the OK Cafe for breakfast. We waited for about 45 minutes and our server was too swamped to get us coffee within 20 minutes after we were seated. The menu is rather a la carte for breakfast items and gets very expensive if you are looking for a standard breakfast. In my opinion, there are much better breakfast places in the immediate area that are a lot less expensive.

Ive always driven past this establishment wondering why anyone would name their restaurant the ok cafe? I finally went in the other day, and I was wowed. Ok Cafe should give themselves more credit, its more than ok! You have to try the oreo milkshake... its delicious. Prices are reasoanble comapred to the portions.

I am baffled by the recommendation of OK Cafe as Kid Friendly. There is no kids' menu (so you have to buy a full price meal), they will not substitute fries for veggies (or charge extra to do so), the veggies tend to be a bit spicer than kids like, they don't bring drinks in smaller cups, and they have on many ocassions forgotten to leave sauces off the kids' dinners. I have gotten the distinct impression that kids are tolerated but not encouraged. It's a fine place for grownups, but not little ones.

Great food, fun atmosphere, and quirky decor. The waitresses are as charming as their retro outfits and I've yet to encounter one in an ill mood. The menu ranges from classic diner fare to soul food to more new age selections, but all items are prepared to order. Comfort food is king while salads and specials can be hit and miss. A veggie plate here is not so much a compromise as it is a mouth-watering alternative. Prices, while not cheap, are reasonable for the quality and quantity. There's a complete soda fountain so milkshakes, floats, malts, and even flavored Cokes may be had. Be prepared to wait at peak times (weekend mornings, most evenings). They're no longer open 24 hours, so you'll have to sneak in before midnight on the weekends to get your fix.

I tried to visit OK Cafe 3/03. I arrived at 1:30 AM on a Sat/early Sun. The sign on the door said Fri and Sat they close at midnight.
On other visits, I thought the food and everything about it was great.

OK Cafe is an instutition in my family. Eventhough we live on the east end of town, it is always great to take the long drive to the Cafe. Not only is it great for breakfast, it is also great for lunch and dinner. And, since it stays open so late, keep it in the back of your head next time you are leaving a late-night concert or event downtown.

This place rocks! Everything from the amazing sweet potato fries to their southern sweet tea. This is a great place for out of town guests who are not from the south.

I was introduced to this nice diner back in the mid 90's... great place to stop on your way home to Cobb or Cherokee from the Fox or other Atlanta event. Just off 75 near Buckhead area & Governors Mansion. Great eats... my favorites are the onion rings (strings) & their shakes... mmmmmmmm. Vegetarians will love it too... there are choices for you & the carnavores in your life as well. Just about anyone can find something that is MORE than ok at the OK CAFE!!! Loooove it!

This is one of my favorite spots to hit for breakfast or plain ol' comfort food. This is diner food at it's best, but without the grease. If you're looking for a plain old meat & potatoes place, this is one to hit. I love to go in the winter when I'm craving meatloaf and mashed potatoes, or almost anytime when I want a big breakfast. If you go for breakfast don't go starving becasue you'll almost certainly have to wait, unless you're an early riser.

Nothing spectacular, but it's not supposed to be. Good home cooked Southern Meals. Makes you think your mom is in the kitchen. The wait staff os awesome. I've never been anywhere that the place takes so much pride in themselves. A great dining experience.
