I switched to Highland Animal Hospital after I was given advice from an animal clinic telling me that drop flea meds are perfectly safe for cats. While this may be true with some cats they neglected to tell me that cats can be EXTREMELY sensitive. I put it up high enough so she couldn't lick it off but she still started having "seizure" like symptoms. I took her to Highland Animal Hospital through a recommendation by a good neighbor. They got her back to normal and the staff was so sweet and respectful. They handled my little kitty with the utmost care and compassion. Two days ago my dog (How and for whatever reason God only knows) chewed up a bottle of Tylenol I left on the counter and must have eaten a few pills. Needless to say he got VERY sick. I woke up and found him in very bad condition. Rushed him to their clinic and he has been there ever since. The lady vet (I can't recall her name) has been with me every step of the way giving me updates and telling me exactly whats going on and how he is doing. He is expected to make a full recovery thanks to them. Take your animals here they are one of the best! They also do wild animal rescue as well which I thought very impressive.

Save yourself some grief and go elsewhere. I've been with them for a couple of years or more now. I go there frequently unlike most veterinary patrons, because I have a ton of dogs. They always need something. Almost every visit I had with them had a bad experience attached to it. I overlooked the small stuff at first, like doing things without consulting me and charging me for it - I hate that. I switched vets a couple of months ago to my mothers long term vet. I changed vets because I was told when I brought my male shar pei puppy in with a huge gash in his kneck that, his wound was too large to close and to come back in a week to see if he has new skin and they can soe him up. He left on open wound treatment. That was a dumb lie to tell. To think that a dog could grow skin that was strong enough to suture within a week is poposterous. To say a shar pei (wrinkled dog) has no skin to close is bunk, now...I took him home and he fell asleep that night, the wound almost closed before my eyes. "but it was too large to close." My mothers vet closed the wound. BEWARE the dark haired male (I believe this is dr walker) - it is HIM who has done me ill. Charged me for stuff I didn't ask for - a capstar. Did the kneck thing with butch. Very possibly killed my puppy who had a hernia, he had me spraying something toxic in her face, and after the surgery I was given POOR instructions on after surgery care. My pekingese had eye surgery and came back all shaved up, his tail was a pom pom, his hind fringes were shaved top and bottom. The man handled my Godfree cruely and mean. He'd barely been numb before the doctor started taring at his eye. It hurt and Godpea said so. He was ruff. My show dog just came back with part of his hair hacked off for an insemination. Who did the hacking is yet to be determined - I've already called management but they weren't in. Do not go to this clinic. I stopped going after Butch (kneck dog), I only came if I had no choice and couldn't go to our new vet (an issue of distance, time constraints and emergency). And never for anything that wasn't simple. I view them as butchers now and wouldn't trust them to do anything but give shots - couldn't even trust them to do an insemination. My new vet doesn't have that service. Now I wouldn't trust them to give shots. "take your animal somewhere else!!!!"

I have had animals all my life and trained animals all my life. I obtained info from dog trainers, obedience school, vets. So after obedience school, doing lots of reading and getting advice from the "experts" I had lost hope with our female version of Marley. But after seeing him for our annuals, Dr Walker seemed extremely knowledgeable and experienced and after heeding his advice our dog is behaving much better. Dr Walker took good medical care of my cat and dog. If you need a vet, I recommend him and I am very picky. Cathy P

Dr. Walker and his staff will EXCEED your expectations! Dr. Walker has been my vet for the past 14 years and is awesome! He took care of my iguanas in the beginning until they passed and the last 11 yrs and 2 months he took care of my dog (aka my daughter) from 2 months until last week when we sadly had to put her down. The kindness and compassion of him & his staff - understanding that your pet is not just an animal, but a huge part of your family is priceless. If he was a human doctor I would go to him for the following reasons: he will always explain what is going on, how things work, recommend treatments/medications, and be straight forward with you but in a compassionate way. If you are taking any of your family anywhere else, I recommend you switch to Dr. Walker!!

We were refered to Highland Animal Hospital from snake lovers on craigslist and I am so glad! Our snake was attacked by an evil rat and wasn't healing properly so I called to make an appointment and they let us come in right away! They were so nice and caring and great all around. I would recomend everyone to let Highland Animal hospital care for their pets!

I just wanted to say that on two occasions I have found injured wild small birds and Highland Animal Hospital was more than willing to take the animals in and nurse them back to health until they were ready to go back to their natural habitat. I thank God for such a caring place and for His love for us and the animals!

Wonderful care given to my daughter's guinea pig. We were referred to Dr. Walker after our local vet was not able to help Calico. Dr. Walker was very thorough and patient with us. He explained the disease process so we can manage the problem at home. The staff at Highland Animal Hospital was very kind and compassionate.

Highland has taken care of our dogs for 4 years. These people are great! They are compassionate and caring. When we lost our "momma" shortly after she had her puppies, not only did the staff show us their love, they sent us cards, respected our sadness and showed her puppies the best of care. We kept three and they are only cared for or boarded with Highland if we are able.

PROS: Great hours/has walk in if needed, caring staff willing to answer questions
CONS: May be a little pricey but $ well spent; walk in appts wait a little long

We found a kitten that was left on our doorstep, she was very sick, Highland was the only vet open and we are so glad to be able to take her to a compassionate place. Although she did not make it, they were professional and very understanding and tender in their care. We even got a condolance card shortly after.
