I had high hopes for Country Cafe Too. Unfortunately, they weren't realized. While they have all of the country standards on the buffet, nothing tastes quite like you want it to. Most of the vegetables are overcooked and a little mushy. I didn't have any of the meat, as most of it looked like it had been reheated several times. The atmosphere is stark. The service is fine and the price is fine, but you'll likely leave not feeling satisfied, or worse, just a little icky.

The people were friendly there but the food was terrible. We went for the dinner buffet. When we got out the car we smelled some good fried chicken - we later found it was coming from Zaxby's instead. There was something that looked like fried chicken but it had a thick bone sticking out of the top of the "drumstick" that didn't look like any chicken bone we'd seen. At that point we were afraid to eat any of the meat. The food on the buffet was old. It had that film on it and looked dried out when you got up close to it. No wonder they make you pay first!

I thought no one could mess up simple veggies like peas and carrots but they did - yuck. Most of the cooked veggies had a weird taste. Even the mac-n-cheese didn't taste quite right or look very goodl. The rice was like eating plastic. Okay 7-up should be fool proof, right? Nope - even that tasted like it had some weird chemical in it.

Apparently the southern cook quit that day because that food was nothing like good down home southern cooking or the review we read before going there. It would turn you against it. We gave up and left - left full plates of food. We chalked it up to a learning experience.

I go eat lunch at this restaurant everyday. When I go there, I feel like I stepped into my mama's house. The food is great and the people are very friendly. They actually use fresh veggies which really makes a difference. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
