The place looked charming enough so my wife and I figured we would give it a try. I understand that complaints about personal hygiene may not always be appropriate in a restaurant critique but I was quite suprised when the host that greeted us only had one front tooth and his breath smelled of gum infection. Again, I don't want to get personal but the fact is that you would expect someone who is well kempt to greet you at a fine restaurant. At that moment I had an idea things were not going to be too good and I probably should have left. Besides the bad breath and snaggle tooth the host, who ended up being our waiter was nice but not overly friendly in answering our questions. The restaurant was not very full so you would think that the staff would be excited to have some patrons and do whatever is necessary to keep people happy. My meal began with the lobster bisque, which was the special. It was actually not great but not too bad. My main course was the tilapia while my wife had the salmon. The salmon was fine but my tilapia didn't taste quite right. Later that evening I woke from sleep and had to run to the bathroom due to food poisining. My guess is that it was the funny tasting tilapia that did the trick.
Now I will say that I have only been to Soleil once and I understand that not all restaurants can be perfect all the time and it was probably just an aberration but the fact is that I have eaten out probably over a thousand times and this was the first time I had ever gotten food poisioning. My guess is that if I visited Soleil ten more times, it would probably never happen again but I just wanted to relay my experience.

Pros: Charming, Patio

Cons: Unfriendly service, food

.

Let me start by stating that my friends and I all work or have worked in the service industry and therefore know what constitutes good customer service. That being said, the service was so horrible and the staff (including the manager we finally spoke to) was so rude, that we never even got around to eating our food. From being ignored by our "server" to being talked down to by the staff and finally having a manager say that our complaints were "not our (Soleil's) problem" -totally unacceptable. Don't bother; you'd probably get better service in a prison cafeteria.

Pros: Thankfully, there are plenty of other restaurants in the area so we're not limited to this one.

Cons: HORRIBLE service

I would highly recommend Soleil to anyone. Very few places offer the quality of atmosphere you find at Soleil. The patio at the front of the restaurant is unique and fun, and for a more intimate dinner, inside is cozy and relaxing. The food has always been outstanding and the staff is friendly and attentive. The live guitarist on the patio is a nice touch for backgroung music, (I'm not sure if he plays during the week or only on weekends). A great place for dinner out with friends, or a romantic dinner for two.

Pros: Ambience, Food

Cons: Can't really think of one...

We made reservations for Valentines Day in advance, arrived a little before our expected time and were seated immediately. That was the good part. After that everything went downhill. Even though it was Valentines Day, the restaurant was not overly crowded so we expected a little delay; however, our waiter was inattentive even after repeatedly asking for water. Our salads (which were very good) arrived after a short delay but the entrees took over forty five minutes to arrive after the salads were cleared. This was hard to understand since the menu was limited to four entrees that evening. Also there were several guests that came in after us but were served the same thing. Once our food did arrive, we were both unimpressed with the quality, seasoning, and overall value of the meal. Then we were charged for items we did not order or receive, that was taken off the bill. But when I checked my credit card account two days later I found we had been over billed by more than my receipt. Overall it was not an enjoyable experience, the service was poor, the food mediocre, and I would stay as far away as possible in the future.

I have dined at Soleil 3 times in the past week because it is just that good. The dining experience is initmate and cozy, the service is attentive, and the food is outstanding. Best Ribeye I have ever had! I highly recommend Soleil nu Bistro.

Consistently a great spot for quality cuisine in the heart of Buckhead for a very reasonable price. Nice front porch eating area. Décor could be updated, but it is still a very quaint wonderful meal every time.
