Wow. Where to begin? As an employee of Daily Groceries a participant in Food Not Bombs and someone who has been paying their own way since before this review was written I find this offensive. I have to guess you haven't actually talked

This is a totally inaccurate description of the Daily Co-op. I have been going there for years now and I haven't met anyone who fits the description given by thekatierthebetter. In fact, Daily is one of the most laid-back, unpretentious places I know. If you want pretentious, try going to Earth Fare or Whole Foods. I agree that it's expensive, but it's incredibly rude (and untrue) to write customers off as superficial rich kids. And sure there's no parking lot--but there are always empty parking spots on the street either in front of or behind the store. And it's in a historic neighborhood, so having a parking lot is not only ridiculous, but also impossible. I have never experienced any preaching or pamphleteering at the co-op, so I don't know where that criticism is coming from. And for your information, the co-op does accept Food Stamps, so no one is going to get "really scared" if you ask them about that. The co-op is a real community, filled with friendly and accepting people of diverse backgrounds. Maybe thekatierthebetter should sign up for a volunteer shift so she can actually meet some of these people. And then she would be getting a 20% discount, so maybe she could stop whining about the cost.

Pros: good food, nice people

I have been shopping at Daily Coop for many years since I arrived in Athens in 2001. I feel extremely fortunate to have a place like Daily to meet my vegetarian and vegan needs. The atmosphere is nice and laid back and there's a surprisingly diverse variety of products.

The only thing "co-operative" about Daily is the band of thieves that took over the place. The place has a long history of poor management, a dysfunctional board, and out-right embezzlement. Don't be fooled. Don't waste your money or your time. Don't support Daily Groceries.

Sweet way to support local farms and business, and make a statement with the kind of tampons you buy. But everyone else who shops there is making that same statement, and want to make sure you know they're making that statement. And the statement is "I believe in stuff, and my parents pay my rent 'cuz I wouldn't be able to afford this gluten-free mac and cheese any other way." This place is really expensive, and kind of pretentious in a "I read books and ride my bike and don't shower because I'm better than you" kind of way but the fruits and veggies are good, and they have amazing home-made sammies and dips. They'll totally insist carob is better than chocolate, and probably give you a pamphlet about the far-away feel good cause of the week. No parking, but you should be riding your bike there anyway. Don't know if they accept WIC or Food-Stamps, even though they're all preachy about charity and community. Make it a point to ask, and watch them get really scared.

Pros: Local produce, snacks

Cons: Patchouli-stank, hipocrisy

A volunteer-run grocery store offering organic, local produce, bulk dry goods, and other hippy food. Staff is always nice, as well as interesting. Prices are reasonable. You can also get sandwiches and other pre-made food items.
