I would say that I visit the Inn and the area enough to call me a regular. My friends and I usually end up here after a good run down by the nearby Chattahoochee River which is just a stone's throw away. The Old Vinings Inn has just undergone some new management, it'll take some time to see if their changes last. I've been around long enough to see changes come and go here. The bar upstairs is the real "hang out" that by late nights on the weekend are so packed you might find yourself wondering if the floor is going to fall through with this old historic building. But that's a part of the charm. The restaurant downstairs pretends to be a little snooty considering the ruckus going on above them. The food is good with some real cuisine going on but with the prices they still have some figuring out to do. Even with the new management this is a place that still does not quite know what it does best. The regulars keep it going and always will. They just better hope they get their historic places status otherwise the management will really be looking at some prices.

The Attic Bar is the place to be when Jeff Hix is playing. The band is the perfect backdrop to a great time. The atmosphere is relaxed, the people are nice, and I have always loved going there.

Recently the ownership of this quaint little restaurant has changed into something wonderful. The food is beautifully presented and very tasty. The revamped decor is a great improvement and the management is very attentive to detail. All our special occasions are celebrated here!

A fading icon in the Vining's community has reemerged brighter than ever. Over the past few years we have tried to dine here but were constantly dissapointed. The "Fish House" menu that was always over sauced did not fit the charm of this quaint building. The dining service was good but the bar staff was beyond unpleasant and frankly inappropriate. We had written off the restaurant until we heard that it had changed ownership. We gave it another chance and it is now our "Go to place". The entire staff has a cordial southern charm that was lacking before. Our recommendations from the new menu are the Caramelized Onion and Goat Cheese Encrusted Fried Green Tomatoes, the Roasted Beet Salad & the Horseradish Encrusted Salmon. They also have a great bar menu and the live music is fantastic. The Vining's Inn is BACK!!!

Cons: The new management seems to be repairing any of our cons.

What an amazing and fantastic expirience I had last night! I have been going to The Vining's Inn off and on now for years and let me tell you that what is going on there now is nothing short of fantastic! The new menu there is exactly what I feel exemplifies that building, traditional Southern Cuisine and some Low Country influences. In the past I have had average food but now I am blown away by the enthusiasm of the new chef and the fervor of the staff. The Carmelized Onion and Goat Cheese Encrusted Fried Green Tomatoes were to die for! The Oyster Vic-a-feller's were beautiful and delicios. I wanted to look at them AND eat them. Bravo to what is taking place at this wonderful location. I will be there often to try each and everything on that menu.

It has been more than 1 year since I have been to the Vinings Inn. Last time was in Spring 2006. My wife and I then had a bad time and experience that we decided not to go back. This week we were driving in Vinings and we were encouraged by the lively activity there that we decided to try it. We had a great dinner. The menu was recently changed to a southern upscale cuisine. The sea bass was to die for. The staff was very cordial and helpful. One great observation my wife made was how clean the place have become. We heard music and signing coming from the upstairs bar. We decided to check it out. Little did we know that we stayed until after 1 am and we had the time of our life. This jewel in Vinings seems to be coming back strong and great. I usually don't make recommendations but honestly, you must try it.

Pros: Great and preserved atmosphere commensurate with a historic building from the 1800s.

Cons: They could use better lighting. The manager told us that they are in the process of doing some renovation.

This used to be the place to go any day of the week, now I wouldn't go once a year! I stopped by last week and found out the place had been sold and they had fired the entire bar staff! That was their first mistake as the old bartenders and cocktail waitresses were super friendly and made you feel like you were in your own living room hanging out with friends! I decided to give it a try any way and boy am I sorry I wasted my time. I had to send my martini back as it was awful and the unfriendliness of the staff was just ridiculous. The few people I knew there were all standing around trying to see if anyone knew where the old staff went. We won't be coming back here and I'd advise anyone to go somewhere else!

Me and my mates all used to live around this area in the mid 90s and it would be a good place to hang out weekend evenings they had a jazz type / piano bar in a tiny upstairs room / bar patio. I remember the most awful trouble trying to park around there. Great place to meet new people. Well that was all a long time ago and my friends and I have all moved on from that era. Recently visited to eat rather than the liquid diet of old. The food was bland and overpriced. Service was ok. The place looks run down never again. A total waste of money.

My husband and I are frequent diners in Atlanta and I must say that we were pleasantly surprised at the ambience, service, and gastronomic menu at the Old Vinings Inn. Mimosas will serve as a complement to their fresh salads, crabcakes and shrimp po'boys. We'll definitely have "dinner" in the near future.

Our experience at The Old Vinings Inn was just "okay". Our server was excellent. The food and wine list, however, were seriously lacking. We had the stuffed trout & lamb and both were flavorless. Atlanta really has some incredible restaurants - go somewhere else! The restaurant should really think about changing the menu & the wine list to "up the ante" a bit. Disappointing, will never go back. $120 better spent elsewhere!

I have to say that I was very hesitant about returning to Vinings Inn due to the previous reviews. However, I had not been there in over a year and knew how great it was before so I decided to see for myself. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised?the food was great! I went on a Friday night with a few girlfriends and had the pecan seared rainbow trout?it was delicious! Not only that, but I actually split this entree with one other person and when they brought the split entree out it was more than enough food for each of us; it was as though I ordered my own entree. They have a pretty good wine list and many wines you can buy by the bottle with a good price range. My only complaint is that it can get kind of loud in the dining area?I guess this is to be expected since it is a small, old house. I would suggest going upstairs to listen to the band after dinner?it was a pretty good crowd; not too crowded, but not dead either. If you can though you should send someone upstairs to reserve a table for you; they go pretty quickly.

What a dump! I was very disappointed in the food. The service was pretty good, but I thought this place was a fine dining restaurant. It's more like a fried fish house. Just not what I expected. Pretty pricey for the fried food. You'd be better off at the Red Lobster (at least you get the cheddar biscuits)

Still have an awesome crab cake, but a little expensive. Everything elso is so-so. I still can't believe how much things have changed at the Vinings Inn. I haven't been ther in some time, and it seems that the place is a run down and out of the loop. I herd they had changes in management and I'm guessing that may be the problem. Come on guys, get with the program. You used to be the sh**! Get the place pumping again.

I have heard great things about the Old Vinings Inn since moving to Atlanta 6-months ago. I dined there for the first time on Saturday, April 1, and let me tell you it was a very cruel April fools joke, to say the least. The service was sub-par and the food was mediocre at best. For $60 a head, and a good amount of hype, I expected much more. Only twice in my life have I not left a tip (I always tip a minimum of 20%), and I would have done the same on Saturday, but luckily I wasn't paying. Needless to say, I won't be back.

I have been going to the Vinings Inn on and off for over 4 years. I'm not even sure why I go back. The food isn't that good, the service is okay, a little unpolished and unprofessional. It didn't use to be like that. I was there a few weeks ago and don't think I'll be going back. The dining room seemed chaotic, like there was no one was in charge. Then we went up to the bar. It used to be packed and very lively. I was there on a weekend night and it was almost like a ghost town. The whole place has lost the charm that it once had. It's really sad because this place used to be the "It" in Vinings.

In a cute little old house, I have heard they also have music happening these days in the bar area.
This place is quaint and lovely food.
The Vinings Area is a great place to shop and dine. Old Vinings Inn is where I wish I was headed tonight, but its a little on the pricey side. I'd guess at least $50 for a couple.

This is a cute little place with good atmosphere - definitely good for a romantic date. I had stuffed fried green tomatoes for an appetizer and it was just okay. The beef tenderloin was very tender although I didn't enjoy the cheesy risotto that accompanied it. I don't think they go well together. I finished off dinner with a blondie and ice cream and a cup of coffee. The food wasn't fabulous, but I would go back and try something else. Also, for the dessert, I ordered a brownie but got a blondie instead so the menu wasn't quite clear on what it was. The service was very good - just the right amount of service without getting on your nerves.

I went to the Inn in early November and reserved the fireside table for 5 for 7:00 on Chrstmas Eve. Our family enjoyed a cozy dinner there last year and we wanted to make it a family tradition. The food was fine but we were returning because of the memories of dining in front of the fireplace. I confirmed the reservation early that day. When we arrived the table was vacant but the hostess said they had to seat us elsewhere (by the kitchen). After several excuses we learned that the OWNER who was working that night had given away our reservation to his friend who had called late that afternoon. When my husband said he was upset the owner said, in front of his staff and waiting diners, "This conversation is finished." We left.

i visited atlanta for the first time this weekend, and had the pleasure of dining at the Vinings Inn with my parents - now i can't wait to visit again, if only just to eat here! we enjoyed this restaurant so much - everything about it was excellent. the service was great - our waitress Sarah was extremely bright and friendly and knowledgeable about the menu.

the food was amazing - the menu has changed since the editorial review. i had the apple bacon corn chowder - very different, very delicious. for an entree, i had the oven fried chicken - the waitress was right - i've never had anything like it! it was SO good - i'm still thinking about it.

the portions here are VERY generous, at least by NY standards, so come hungry! this place is fabulous!

I recently visited a friend of mine in Atlanta for the first time... My last night in town, we looked up a highly rated, romantic CitySearch restaurant... The Vinings Inn is where we ended up and I could not have been more pleased... Go on a weeknight if you want the whole, little place all to yourselves! A great place to fall in love...

I recently visited the Vinings Inn. The server informed me they had brought back Glen barnet. The food was excelent. Between my girlfriend and I we had ostrich shrimp&lobster in puffed pastry a ceaser salad with a great crouton of polenta&chipolty pepper cooled off by an outstanding ceaser dressing and our entree's were to good to write about in this small space. The bar had jeff hix's guitarest playing some rythem and blues just like the old theotis and jeff hix is still filling and rocking the house every other weekend. I was told they got rid of both of the old chefs and some other negative attitudes on staff. We had a great time and recomend this cozy place to any one looking for some great southern food, and a great place to hang out. try to make reservations.

The Vinings Inn actually seems to be going down hill. Their food has not been as good as it was in the past. I would actually suggest their other resturant, The River Room. Glen is a wonderful chef! The entertainment they have brought in is sub-par to what they use to have. Jeff Hix is the only thing they still have going for them. They got rid of some great entertainers. Theodis and the Jazz band on Thursday (Buzz?) were great musicians and performers. I don't know where they are finding their entertainment for both places, but I hope they figure things out and possibly bring back some of the old entertainers. The Vinings use to be a packed place every weekend. Their new marketing strategy is obviously not working. Hello...anyone home? Bring back the Old Vinings Inn!!

The Attic Bar is the place to be when Jeff Hix is playing. He's the legacy of Vinings entertainment and has single-handedly built this bar into one of the best nights out in Atlanta. Cindy-lou is quite the princess as well.

Everything about this spot is intimately connected to Atlanta's history. Early area pioneer Hardy Pace, whose name is recognized in Paces Ferry Road, built the original house in the 1820s and did operate a ferry on the Chattahoochee River…
