just had a business lunch there and I must say the food was excellant! a great place to meet people especially for business meetings, I was surprised with the huge bar selection and the types of wine on offer. I will recommend Grand China to all my friends. Theres not my place to eat that have been open since the early 70s that must say something.

Oo! ok well my class went and like it was tottaly fun and yummy! the food was really good!! i also liked the thailanese food they had!! ( aka padthai!) anyways but they also have awsome ice cream.... ( aka the orange one!!) sooooo YUMMMMY! BEST LUNCH EVER! <3 <3 <3 <3!

The service, atmosphere and food are great! The flavors are amazing and very authentic Chinese cuisine for a fair price, especially in buckhead. They also have free delivery which is nice. I have been twice already in the past month and would highly suggest it to anyone who is seeking good Chinese cuisine and service!

The hot and sour soup was to die for. The entree was exceptional and the service outstanding. The desserts was also very different. It had been26 years since we had traveled to Atlanta. We ate here 26 years ago and revisited since the food then was just as good as now. This restaurant would be one, worth visiting regularly if we lived in this area.

Coming from NYC, I was very disappointed in both the authenticity and taste of the local chinese restaurant scene. However, Grand China changed that. With pork dumplings worthy of Shanghai and the best mongolian beef I've had, Grand China has proved itself time after time.
The delivery is very fast to the Buckhead area, but the real treat is in the service and ambience of the restaurant itself. A family-run establishment, the staff at GC makes everyone feel welcome and wanted.
It all combines for a great Chinese experience and I will definately come back (or get delivery/take out) for years to come.
Oh - get the sizzling rice soup... trust me

This was a magnificent experience! The service was immaculate! The host Tse-Chih was the best, she is very well put together and holds conversation well. The presentation of everything was incredible, i especially loved the radishes they made into flowers, they were beautiful! The food was superb and served in a timely manner. They make you feel like a VIP and I'm sure there are no exceptions to this. They were very attentive with everything! I actually rate this place 500 out of 10. If you want to be treated right and have great food and a great time this is the place to be!

There is a very beautiful Asian theme. Great southern hospitality, the best I've experienced in Georgia, no wonder why it's a 5 star. The music was very soothing and sensual while keeping up with the aura. Tse-Chih was very talented at incorporating a person's individual tastes into your dish that she will gladly help you choose if needed. Everything is extremely fresh adding assurance that your meal is going to fantastic! Their fortunes are the bomb! The Banana Flambe was to die for and the presentation added an extra spark to our already mouth-watering experience. Try something new its definitely worth it!

Great orange chicken. They really appreciate their customers by sending a free dinner certificate on your birthday. Its good to see customer appreciation is still around. East meets West in this delectable hidden gem in the heart of Buckhead. With the warmest of southern hospitality from the time you enter the restaurant until you leave, one meal can feed a family of four. They were very accommodating when I wanted two meats for one entree, "no" was never an option. The drinks are satisfying and thirst quenching. Excellent overall.

Close to downtown, exceptional service and food was amazing. Great selection on the menu-I especially enjoyed the Keng Peng Chicken. All the food was cooked fresh and was very tasty! Would definitely recommend to others and will return. Also, food is a moderate price....great for a large family looking for a good meal!

I've been coming here since I was in a high chair. They have Never failed to impress with the hands-down best In Atlanta. The sign on the door says "Appropriate Dress Required" and that let's you know that you are in for a gourmet treat. The Red Thai Currey Chicken is unbeatable. Seriously. I can not rave enough about Grand China.

I came here on a whim after seeing a movie at the mall. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food that was presented. I tried a dish that I had never seen on a menu at an asian restaurant before. The honey roast pork with steamed buns is amazing. ANYONE in the mood for an authentic asian meal should not miss Grand China!

I can't see what is so good about this restaurant???? I guess all review must be written by their own! I try this restaurant 2 times, I can't even try to like it. From its decor, food and service, is all average but the decor is very cheesy. I work for a publication magazine, I will never have this restaurant in my magazine.

If you are looking for great Asian cuisine, great service and friendly people, please look no further than Grand China in Buckhead. The restaurant offers excellent Chinese and Thai cuisine, as well as American versions of Chinese food (fried rice, lo mein noodles, etc). If you are a repeat customer, the hostess will remember you and your family and will come over to speak with you at your table. We have been looking for great chinese since we moved to Atlanta. We have finally found it. We started off with the Zombie Drinks, (151, pineapple, and orange juice, what else do you need!!) We had the hot and sour soup, and Tom Kah Kai. It was the best we had since Thai town in LA. Absolutely great. Go for extra spicy!! WOW. I had the Orange Chicken, it was perfect, not the breaded kind as normally served. Shaved chicken, stir fried with orange peels and Thai Peppers. It was fabulous, and enough to take home for lunch tomorrow. He had the Green Curry. It was so good, including the whole green beans which added a different flair. I recommend everything we had! It was great. We will be back ! Cant wait to try everything on the menu! Oh yeah, its divided into multiple categories,so you can have chinese, thai, japenese, etc. !! Two words..... LOVE IT!!! GIRL DOWN.... Im stuffed!

I was working at 2970 Peachtree Road in Buckhead and noticed "GRAND CHINA" across the street. I decided to give them a try. I have now officially found the BEST ORANGE CHICKEN IN ATLANTA. The atmosphere is very comforting and pleasant. The staff is wonderful, but where this place really shines is their food. Quality, quantity, presentation, everything about GRAND CHINA is five stars. No yucky "breading" coated on the orange chicken, just thinly shaved slices of whole white meat chicken. Wow !!!
I can't say enough great things about this restuarant. Stop by and give them a try, you won't be disappointed.

my girlfriend and i stopped in Grand China while passing through atlanta this weekend. without question we will come back whenever we are in the buckhead area. the staff welcomed us as if we had been regulars for years. the owners themselves came to make sure we were having a good time.......we had a great time. i must say this will be a memory we will both hang on to forever. thanks so much Grand China for a great evening. see you soon.

Was in Atlanta for business and happened upon Grand China. Food was excellent, service was very fast and friendly, menu was extensive. The outside of the restaurant was mis-leading in that is doesn't seem very nice but the inside was charming and relaxing. Great, inexpensive, fast dining without being a hole in the wall.

This restaurant embodies the true spirit of what makes a hometown restaurant. The food is great, very reasonably priced, and presented in an eye pleasing manner with veggie roses to compliment your dish. The service is by far the best that I have experienced since being in the Atlanta area for 3 years. All of the staff is willing to assist one another to better accommodate its guests. Other restauranteers need to drop by, have a meal, and take notes on what Atlantans expect real service to be... courteous, friendly, energetic, pleasing, and appetizing.

Grand China is a Buckhead staple that anyone who loves good Chinese food should try. It's the best in Atlanta. Customer service is fabulous -- food comes quickly, servers are warm and welcoming. The attention from the owner/manager is unparalleled. She cares about your experience and enjoyment. Plus,the drinks are AMAZING. Try the Pink Panther or Carribean Cooler. They use only fresh ingredients -- fruit and juices only. We enjoyed the House Special fried rice, pork egg fu yung, spare ribs and chicken with broccoli -- all DELICIOUS. We can't wait to go back. We will not eat any other Chinese food in Atlanta.

Normally I do not write reviews but this time I feel like my dining experience warrants it. Grand China Restaurant is more than a restaurant, its an experience. The hostess is an amazingly funny woman who can surely entertain any party. But its not just the entertainment experience that makes this restaurant great. The food is also top notch. The well priced large entrees were delicious especially the spare ribs and general tsos chicken. It was the best general tso I have had, and being that is my favorite dish, i was especially pleased. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Best Chinese food in Atlanta, hands down. The owners are fantastic and they have amazing customer service! The Sesame Chicken is Awesome & my husband is obsessed with this place & their General Tso's chicken. It's the spot to eat. We're both in our mid twenties and all of our friends love it here too. The staff is very friendly. The decor is nice and the food is excellent. My family and I will often drive out of our way to get food from this restaurant. My husband loves the duck. Their fried rice is also very good.

From the front door to the table, the atmosphere is very warm and friendly. The staff is very prompt and the food is, without a doubt, the best best asian cuisine in the state. My trip was on a friday evening and we still got great service. The owner made it a point to introduce herself, inform us about the menu, and learn our names. We felt like VIP's when we left. Oh God, where to start. One time in my life, I thought I knew happiness. But then I came to Grand China. Everything before that point has now been shown to me to be a sham, a hollow kind of happiness. True joy is only had by coming to this restaurant. I am writing this of my own volition. The food is authentic, fresh, flavorful, not oily/greasy. Elegant dine in or fast delivery service. We have been customers for over 15 years and we miss Grand China every time we travel out of town. We have tried the best local but nothing compares to Grand China. You may want to take your time when ordering, they have a wide variety of Asian couisine, not just Chinese.

For those of you that have not tried this restaurant out, you should come at least once, as part of your Buckhead experience. The restaurant has been here since the beginning, starting from the 1970s and has evolved with the rest of Buckhead as time has passed.

The food is consistently served well, across all the different categories. I would def. recommend the General Tso's Chicken, the Chicken Lo Mein, or the Grand China Beef. The best part is, if you are unsatisfied with your order, let a server know. The owners are usually very nice, and will do their best to make sure that you are satisfied with your meal as a customer. The servers while international are very friendly, and willing to help as much as they can. The owners are there, helping to run the restaurant daily, and are always more than willing to do what it takes to make your experience there a good one.

I recently read an ad in the Saavy Shooper for Grand China Restaurant and noticed that they were open until 10:45pm on weeknights. Having an active lifestyle and being forced to eat late, I was immediately impressed by their hours and my friend and myself decided to try it out. First, and foremost it is in the center of buckhead and parking is fabulous. Yes, you heard me right fabulous. There is no valet that you have to tip, you park yourself and it's free. The inside is well-decorated and the ambience is homey and relaxing. The staff are incredibly considerate and attentive. The food is amazing. I have had a lot of Chinese food in Atlanta and this is by far the best that I've had. The chicken is all white meat, the shrimp are plump, the vegetables are fresh, and the sauces are so rich. It was amazing! Great atmosphere and with such great food and free delivery I think I'll also be enjoying this food in the future in privacy of my own home as well.

We frequent Grand China about once a week, either dining in or getting take-out. The food is fantastic. I'd classify it as top-quality Chinese at a moderate price. The sizzling rice soup is addictive, and I like a lot of seafood dishes as well. The ingredients are all top notch. When dining in, the proprietor is usually onsite to great visitors -- she's a doll. Highly recommended.

A day after my experience at Grand China have I only begun to recover.

Upon entering, a group of 14 of us were seated at the large round table near the rear of the restaurant. From there, it all went downhill.

The waitress we had, who was wearing an over-the-top dress, continuously pryed into in what was supposed to be a nice birthday celebration for a friend of ours. Instead of providing a service, she forced awkward conversations, asked each person personal questions, and 1/2 through our meal, began to make insulting, vulgar, offensive jokes. She was especially offensive To Jewish people, which I took personal offense to. I let her know I did not approve, and then tried to baby me the rest of the night in an attempt to repair a tasteless act. However, she continued to joke and disrupt our dinner... Later on in the evening, my friend, a petite Asian girl, was hit-on rudely by one of the male waiters, who told her he was going to "meet her" in the bathroom.

As for the food itself, which fortunately came primarily prior to the offensive jokes, was adequate at best. We all ordered separate dishes, but most of us shared. The ginger beef was among the better dishes. The plum duck was extremely boney and had very little meat and tons of fat. The other dishes were all very average and were not significantly better than what would be served at a mall or asian food chain such as Mama Fu's, Tin Drum, etc.

The bottom line was that the experience was offensive and left a bad taste in all our mouths. The waitress, upon leaving, asked us to fill out comment cards and in return, would receive a birthday certificate to return for a free meal. I would have preferred a refund and a genuine apology. Regardless, I did leave my comments, but with the manager in front, and not on some information prying comment card.

Grand China Restaurant wonderful place to take a small respite from my day. The staff was prompt, charming and entertaining, and Mrs Chen is a wonderful and congenial hostess. I enjoyed the chicken Satay and szechuan dumplings for my appetizer, and then enjoyed the crispy duck as my main course. Everything was excellent. The menu lists a vast array of various Asian dishes from Thai to Japanese. Be sure to enjoy an ice cold Kirin with your meal. This was one of my best dinning experiences in years.

After reading all the good reviews here we decided to head out to Grand China.. what a disappointment.. the food was ok, nothing special - Ive had much much better food at the Chinese rest. Hong Kong on Cheshire Rd. The service was unfriendly to say the least.. the waitress 'barked' at us "what would you like to order" and when we hesitated she became impatient - and honestly, she had to wait for apx 2 seconds for me to decide between a two dishes.. isnt that the reason she's works there??? to assist patrons? oh well.. we wont be back..

Honestly, this place is great. It's been around for so many years, which is a testament to the food and service provided here. I've been there on many occasions, stopping by for pick up and dining in with myself and my friends. Overall, it has been a great experience. If there were any problems, all you would have to do is speak to the owner, who is almost always manning the front desk or walking around making sure guests and customers are satisfied with the food and service.

Read what you like, but don't believe everything you see here. Instead, if you're really curious, stop by the place. Go in, sit down, and have a meal. Or order something to go, or do delivery instead. I'm confident that you will be pleasantly surprised by the high quality food, and consistent service.

What a great place, just the atmosphere we were looking for, the China experience.
The Peking Duck was fabulous, so tender with crispy skin. We have had this dish in
several different cities, but this was the best. Next time we will try the General Tso's
Chicken or Sea Bass, heard that it is also great. The owners came to our table and
we had a nice chat. Jenny, our waitress was very personable and gave us terrific
service. I would highly recommend The Grand China Restaurant to anyone.

Excellent food and very attentive service! Don't be fooled by the name of this restaurant...their Thai food is EXCELLENT. I was impressed by the quality of the food and how quickly it was brought to our table.Everything was fresh and piping hot!

I came from DC to Atlanta for business purposes and found my self exhausted one day after thousands of meeting. I did not feel like going anywhere to eat that evening. So I decided to call Grand China and ask them to deliver my food. Guess what, the food showed up in 15-20 minutes. In my experience, this is fast. I would recommend this place especially for those who like Chinese food obviously, prefer to have their meal delivered to them and tip well. I have never been to the restaurant but I can tell you the food was good and priced accordingly.

I must admit, we happened into Grand China Restaurant by accident, being lost in Atlanta, yet had an experience that will bring us back again and again. While the decor is most definitely to par with fine Atlanta dining, the prices were very affordable for my three friends and myself who are all college students. The menu was very impressive and offered an enormous selection of Chinese, Japanese and Thai favorites. In fact, being vegan I'm often not able to enjoy restaurants that my friends choose, yet found several selections that suited my lifestyle and dietary needs. While we're not generally a high maintenance group, this particular night we had several questions that the staff answered impeccably. Not only explaining dishes and their ingredients, they even catered to a friend in the group who asked for something not on the menu. During our meal the owner came to our table in a very nonabrasive way and was so personable and polite that she completely made our night. While I don't generally review restaurants, this particular night I was definitely inspired and can honestly recommend this particular one to everyone that may read this. It's often difficult to find a truly impressive balance of decor, service, taste, price and atmosphere, yet Grand China Restaurant has mastered it beautifully and should be truly proud!!!

And this is not take-out/delivery! This is the ultimate Christmas Day feast, for many of us. Jackie, the hostess, and Mrs. Chang, have created the most wonderul holiday feast for us and our friends. Starting with the scallop soup, marinated beef salad, and the divine Lobster In Ginger Sauce. It dosen't get any better than this. The interior of this dining destination is soft pink, with black laq trim. And we can't forget the warm Saki. Just wonderful, all the way around. Being Jewish, this is the best day to be here. Again, just wonderful, we felt like part of Mrs. Chang's family.

Made to feel as if you are an old family friend when you enter the restaurant! Staff is always very attentive, friendly and gracious. And the food is some of the very best you will find anywhere. I'm not sure what other reviewers were ranting about, when they said that this place was bad. I've never had a bad experience here. The food is top notch. The staff, while international are incredibly welcoming, friendly and kind. Mr. & Mrs. Chang do a great job being hosts, always stopping by asking how the meal is, and offering up unsual and entertaining stories.

This place has been here since the 1970s, and while it has changed, it's always been for the better. They've expanded the menu to offer even more kinds of food, redone the exterior, and are always accomodating to special requests. For all the new restaurants that have been coming up in the past few years, this one has been there before them all...and is still here. That should tell you something about the quality of this establishment.

This chinese food is awesome! I live in Lithonia, GA and we drive 35 miles to Buckhead to eat this chinese food. It is so good. The lunch specials are reasonably priced but dinner gets a bit pricey. It's not the prettiest in the inside and the only annoyance factor is that the manager continuously circles around you like a shark asking you how everything tastes. That's a bit uncomfortable. Great food though!

The greatest chinese restaurant in Buckhead!! I have been here for lunch as well as for dinner, and I must say that this is the best chinese restaurant I've been so far!! This restaurant has been here for years and one trip and you'll know why. They have Thai, Chinese and some Japanese. The waitstaff always remembers you name and your story. The food is very affordable and EXQUISITE! The best spring rolls and Pad Thai I've every had. There is a large amount of parking behind the building. Great ice cream to. I eat out alot, and in these times it is rare to actually see customer service with a smile. Not only is the service consistently on par, but also the food is excellent, no matter what selection I have off of the menu. It is always an enjoyable and delightful experience, regardless of the day of the week. Grand China Restaurant has been around for a while. It has seen many patrons through the years, and the repeat business tells the story.
I used to bring my girlfriend here for dinner,and the atmosphere was quiet,classy, and welcoming. The food- excellent. Later, I brought my wife here (yes,the same gal) for a more casual dining experience. The food was still excellent,and the service was very hospitable and classy. Jeans or dressup both works here.

Today, I brought my family (twoyoung onesadded) to GCR for lunch. The staff was so friendly to the kidsand the service is still the same- tops!

The Changs just seems to make it all work- elegant, casual, or family. This has been my top Chinese place in Atlanta and will stay so.

I know Mr. and Mrs. K.C. 's mother , she is a 85 years old lady , her food is best in the whole world, and she is still cooking for her 8 children in Taiwan. The first time I went to Grand China Resturant in 1992, Mrs. Chang ordered 3 dishes of chinese food for me, after I ate it , I want to say her cooking skill is as good as her mothers.

I have worked in Buckhead for almost 20 years and I have been dining with Grand China for the entire duration. The owners are very involved with their restaurant and they stop by each customer's table and say hello. The waitresses and waiters are extremely attentive and very friendly also. The food has always been prepared exactly as requested and is always delicious!!

I would highly recommend Grand China to anyone with a desire for Chinese food!!

My family and I have been going to Grand China for years and consider it the best Chinese food in Atlanta. The food is consistently wonderful, the staff is always exceedingly courteous, and I noticed that they have just expanded their drink menu (didn't order any drinks, but they all looked good). I live in Alpharetta and never miss a chance to eat here when I'm in Midtown/Buckhead.

I have come here once for lunch witha friend before and it was a great experience and had to bring another friend for a dinner experience. It is very elegant with dim lighting and has classical music playing throughout the restaurant. The wait staff is very helpful and kind. The menu is filled with great Chinese and Thai cuisines. I highly recommend Grand China. There are numerous reasons: free, onsite parking, central location, great atmosphere, friendly and fun staff and outstanding food. Their menu is diverse --- a wide variety of excellent Thai, Chinese, and Japanese dishes. I have too many favorite dishes to recommend specific one. The deserts are great also. They have a well-stocked bar too. Go and you will be glad that you did.

Friends and I used to come here often but as they moved away, I stopped coming. But now I am happily re-acqainted with the best Asian food in the city. I love to dine out with my family. I must say that this restaurant is one of my favorites. The owners, the servers, the hostesses and all the staff are warm and very professional! For the 17 years, the best Chinese food I ever have had is the food I get from Grand China.My favor dishes are Hot & Sour Soup, Szechuan Cold Noodle, Chicken Pad Thai & Teriyaki Chicken. The owner Mrs. Chang is always there to take care of customers. If you are lucky, she may buy you dessert. It's worth trying. I urge you to go.

Time and time again, the place to go for great Chinese Food and Wonderful Service is here. Almost all of the selections on the menu are great...you can't go wrong even if you want to try something new. While some places maybe new and more fashionable, this restaurant has been here through it all. The servers and staff are all very friendly and helpful. Fantastic dinning experience with outstanding service, and exceptional Chinese food. Hosted our wedding reception, and attended to every detail without exception. The party was enjoyed and praised by all attending. Last time my children gave me a surprise birthday party, it was at Grand China restaurant. We had 10 dishes including soup, orange peel flavor beef, peking duck , lobster chinese style, etc. They were the best dishes that I have ever had in Atlanta area. The owner was friendly and service was fast. I highly recommend this restaurant to people who is interested in giving a party to a friend.

I have been going to Grand China for 8 years now and the food is absolutely "to die for"! You will not find a restaurant in Atlanta that prepares better General Tsao's Chicken! My mom comes from N.C. just to get the Hot & Sour soup!!!! The Black Pepper Shrimp and the General Tsao's Shrimp are also fantastic.
