The bread was awesome, and the wine was good but overpriced. The desserts were also pretty good. \r

Came here at 5:30 pm on a Sunday with my wife and toddler. Got seated right away as there was not a rush. For over 20 minutes no one even came to pour water, take an order, or give us another high chair (ours was broken). We left in

I was invited to a family party at Maggiano's in one of their banquet rooms. Decent service, fabulous food, and even better atmosphere! This is a winner.

This has the best authentic Italian food our family has ever had. My 3 year old ordered the mac and cheese this was the real stuff no Kraft box here, she ate most of it and then more later that night. The Chicken Marsala was out of this world and the Chicken Spinach Manicotti was to die for. Even the bread was Great! The wine list was extensive. With the lighting, music and romantic atmosphere my husband and I lost ourselves in eachothers eyes until our kids asked us to help with tic tac toe on the kids menu. The best was the service! One all around wonderful experience. A must visit!

Huge portions, but average Italian food. This is a dependable and consistent restaurant. Take it for what it's worth---good tasting dishes, large portions, and decent prices. You probably won't satisfy someone who just came over from Italy but if you go in a large party, at least 85% of your party will enjoy their food.

The food was quite Bland for Italian. My office went there for our Christmas luncheon, so I got to sample several of their dishes, including the tiramisu and apple crisp desserts. I wasn't impressed. However, I enjoyed the salads and stuffed mushrooms.

This is a great place to have a glass of wine while you wait for dinner. Live music most nights. The food is excellent. It's not the place for a "romantic" date, but more a gathering of family or friends. On weekends you should call and make a reservation, but if you don't they can usually get you a table within 30 minutes. GREAT wine selection.

My husband & I picked up an order of dinner & dessert & took it home to eat this past Saturday night. The evening was going great until we were almost finished consuming our tiramisu. I bit down on something so hard it almost broke my teeth. I opened my mouth & pulled out the object & noticed after careful observation that it was a piece of a chipped tooth. I had my husband inspect my mouth to make sure all of my teeth were intact, and sure enough, they were! I'm not sure how the tooth got in the dessert...buit I did call and speak to the manager on duty to confirm that they had made the tiramisu in house. She did say that they in fact make it daily in house. I used to recommend people to this place all the time...but never again will I do that. Who knows how that tooth got in there & what else is in their food. *yuck*

It was prom night and the food was amazing. We got in fast, and got out fast. The family size portions were huge, and we took A LOT of it home with us. The price for $30.00 and that much food, was great. We spent less than we would have at a restaurant with smaller portions. I would go there again anytime, and I enjoyed the Stuffed Chicken with Mashed potatoes, delicious !

I didn't like the bread though, and the floor was a bit slippery, maybe it was the heels . =D

Most people think of Maggiano's as a good restaurant for a family style dinner. However, its a great place to hold an Event the planning was phenomenally easy and the decor is simple but elegant. All you really have to do is pick a menu and they handle the rest. And the value for the cost is tremendous.

This place is fun for me. It isn't a large place but the people who work there make you feel like you are a part of a huge Italian family.(The MOB) They argue in there native tongue and turn around and smile. You are sure someone with a machine gun is going to run from the back and shoot everyone. :) I love it. The prices are reasonable and you get more than what you pay for.

Maggiano's is great if you like good Italian food and like to linger over your meal. The food is wonderful, I have never received a meal that wasn't great. They also have the option of family style dining, and the menu for that is great, my family enjoys this restaurant a great deal and we go there whenever we can find a reason. The biggest problem is that the place sometimes is overcrowded and the wait staff seems slow, but it is normally because they have so many customers to wait on. They are very personable, but you do need to linger over your meal to get full enjoyment and not become irritated over the wait.

Food was a microwaved lasagne. And only lukewarm. Service was distracted, even when we were directly responding to the waiters own questions. Check had phantom additions, which when challenged were removed, but our Credit Cards were still swiped for the original amounts. Neglecting to challenge TWICE, I just reduced the tip accordingly, leaving it at a still-generous 15%. Days later I found on my credit card statement that the waiter had taken the liberty of increasing his tip without my consent. That says it all really.

I went to an employee goodbye lunch where the food was shared family. style Horrible and pricey. I'd have done better staying home and opening Chef Boy-ar-Dee. However, a friend told me that the individual dining is much better. So avoid the family style dining experience!

My wife and I have been to Maggi's in Atlanta several times now. The location is very good and its not far from Lenox square mall. We always seem to go when theirs not a big line and we get in quickly. When staying at a hotel with a microwave in our room, I will get the full portion of spaghetti or chicken marsala and take the rest back to the hotel. The service is always good! Very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and portion sizes. We like Maggi's so much that we have eaten at the one in Nashville and its the same. This is a GREAT restaurant if you like Italian food!

I recently went to Maggiano's for PROM and it was DELICIOUS. The service was friendly and great and did I mention that was the BEST spinach artichoke dip I have ever tasted, the flavors were overwhelming. I would suggest this restaurant to anyone who wants GREAT Italian food. It was only two of us and we ordered family style, that way we got a taste of EVERYTHING, it was more expensive but you got a taste of everything that we wanted. It was an awesome experience. The service was good, and we got seated pretty quickly mainly because we made reservations. But go with an empty stomach, or with intentions of taking plenty home.

I've been hearing about Maggiano's forever! Finally, my boyfriend took me here to make it a memorable night. We shared a Caesar Salad which was amazingly good. Food portions are mighty big, even if they are half bowls. They will fill you up. Service was alright, and it was dark and noisy just like any other restaurant. The food here was delicious, but the rush for ordering such items was not necessary... (trying to get me and my boyfriend to buy the specials). Besides that it was an awesome experience.

My companion and I went to Maggiano's for the first time on a weeknight. The ambience was nothing memorable. The dining room is decorated to feel like a real Italian restaurant, and it was attractively furnished, but there were no details that stick out in my memory. It was very generic.

The seating was all too crowded for my comfort. I felt like I was sitting in my neighbor's booth the whole time. I could hear every word of her conversation, and she wasn't talking especially loudly.

The food was great! The have a huge family banquet menu posted on one wall, which I learned was sadly out of date. Still, the menu was impressive. Our server seemed like she was in a hurry to get us in and out. She explained that the portions were very large, and were we ready to order? She didn't try to sell us on any drinks or appetizers.

We both had side salads and pasta. I had the eggplant parmesan, which I liked. The eggplant was tender and rich, and it was smothered in a thick tomato sauce, which was a little sweet for my taste. Otherwise, delicious. My companion had cheese ravioli, which we both enjoyed. It was toasted on top, which gave it a nice buttery crust. I was looking forward to trying dessert, but our waitress just plopped the check down in front of us. When I asked what kind of sorbet they had, I was told they had none. Then she hurried away. I was disappointed, but I will give Maggiano's another try. Even though the ambience is a little stale, the dining room crowded and the waitstaff impatient, the food was really good!

I love the fact that you can burn off calories by shopping at perimiter mall then treating yourself to very delicious large helpings of what I think might be the best italion in georgia. i highly recommend this to any and everyone, and don't be suprised if i'm not there. When you go just look for a long trail of shopping bags its probably me!!

Maggianos provides family-style portions of Italian favorites at a good price. The food is better than average, but the portions are truly large. Plan on getting the smaller portions or taking home a large doggie bag.

The decor is a little over the top and service can be spotty. The servers are nice but tend to get overseated during rush hours. For Italian, the prices are a bit higher, but for the amount of food you are served, it is a good value.

PROS: good value; huge portions
CONS: inconsistent service

I can't believe this place has any poor reviews. Of course, I often run into people in Atlanta who believe they know what makes up good Italian food while asking for mayonaise on their Italian sub...so, go figure.

This food here is definitely above average and the portions and variety (when you go family style) are great. I've been here about a dozen times, in various groups and settings, and have yet to have a bad experience. The servers have always been average to way above average and I've been very pleased.

My family is not uppity. we were raised with modest means and lived your average middle class life. The heart of our family life was food and mom let us experience everything. So it disturbs me to see so many negative reviews on one of my favorite italian restaurants. Our experience was wonderful. I took my wife for our 5th anniversary and the Hostess sang us an original song. The food was generous and the calamari was some of my favorite anywhere. We really only wisit for special occasions, but it has been a good experience each time.

Yes, it is possible to feed a family of four for less than $40 at a restaurant that presents itself as a 5-star. At Maggianos Little Italy, a customer can order a regular grilled chicken caesar salad (roughly $10) which can easily feed, and satisfy, two grown adults. The portions are enormous so it is advisable for parties of one to order the "half" plate.

Maggianos has not only the best Italian food an Italian could want, they give you the best value by providing you with the biggest portions you have ever seen. You need to take a to go container every time and get to enjoy it at least twice! Also, just the concept and ambience alone make Maggianos by far the best concept I have ever encountered.

Maybe not the best italian in the city, but it was very good. HUGE portions, everything our party had was exceptionally good, as was the service. I especially enjoyed the chicken and spinach manicotti in alfredo sauce. We had enough left over for lunch the next day. It was a bit loud inside, but has a nice atmosphere overall. We arrived at 7:00 on a Thursday night, and did not have to wait at all. Take advantage of valet parking.

We used one of the small meeting rooms upstairs for our dinner. The service was excellent, the food was served 'family-style' but was merely average. The atmosphere was relaxing and quiet. Dark woods, tablecloths, and candles added to the charm of old black and white photos on the walls.

This was my first visit to Maggiano's and I will never go back. I was with a table of 4 and we ordered family style . . the waitress complained about us ordering so late (it was 10:00 when we ordered and the restaurant was packed). She made it a point to complain about us being in there every time she walked up to the table. The portions were large - yes. The food on the scale of 1-5 was a 2 (1 being the worst). I understand that the servers are eager to get off of work but that doesn't constitute their poor service and bringing our apps, salads, meals, and dessert all at once. I'll stick to Baronda's.

How did Maggiano's end up in the top 10 of best Italian restaurants in Atlanta? The food is mediocre at best, the place has zero ambiance, and I have never had good service there...I think that's the worst part--how hard is it to serve 'Family Style'? Yet they still manage to muck it up. If you're looking for Olive Garden-quality Italian food, Maggiano's is for you.

Pros: cheap, get what you pay for

Maggiano's portions are so preposterously large that even a half-size portion is usually too big to eat. You end up taking home tons of food. For the most part, the food is either drenched in seasonings or sauces-- very little left to the imagination or subtlety.

People, people, people! Let's look at the rest of this list, shall we? La Grotta, Sotto Sotto, Veni Vidi Vici, et. al. Which one doesn't belong? Maggiano's! Excessive helpings do not make good food. Granted, you could get worse; say, the old parmesan chicken sandwich at Wendy's... ok, I jest, but really. This is hardly the same league as the others mentioned here, and the slick corporate atmosphere does nothing to add bloom to a decidedly lifeless rose. Even if the food WERE the best italian in Atlanta, I still coudn't eat here: It is quite possibly the loudest restaurant in which I've dined, ever. And I ave the sneaking suspicion that's by design (Don't get comfy, don't stay long, pay your bill, turn over tables, more customers, more $$$$ - not to by conspiratorial and all....).

Pros: Wait..., Hold on..., Gimme a sec...

Cons: , Loud, Did I mention Loud?

There are 25 other italian restaurants in this city that are 100x better than this family-style restaurant. The service is horrible, the food is worse. It's a chain italian restaurant....if you want family style, at least go to Fratelli's.

How is this the number one Italian restaurant.
The food isn't bad but it is a rip off. Basic americanized Itlalian dishes at highend restaurant prices. A fine place for those who like to make believe a good restaurant would serve spagetti and meatballs

Cons: expensive for pasta, noisy, bad service

A nice experience but mostly bland and unimaginative food. HUGE servings, but like I said it's bland so you can't get too excited about it!

Service is spotty and a recent meal went without a refill of iced tea or even checking if I needed another beer (I did - after having to add a lot of salt to add some flavor to a bland vodka blush sauce).

Not a bad place - but not an especially good one either.

I love the salads and some of the dishes at Maggiano's. It is an attrative place and I feel comfortable in their setting. I love the flowers! The only Italian I have found, in Atlanta, that I prefer is Salvadores in Roswell.

I think Magggiano's is fun for those not interested in real good Itialian food but want a fun and different place to dine. The portions are outragous and the staff is accomodating but the food is at best average.

I am by no means a connoisseur of Italian Cuisine, or any cuisine for that matter. I have eaten at Maggianos Buckhead three times in my two years in Atlanta, and every time I have been more than pleased with the dining experience. I highly recommend going with a group of four or more and getting the family style dinner, but a casual semi-romantic dinner for two is also an option. (I find that sharing an entree is quite romantic, and Maggianos large portions allow for that). The atmosphere can be loud and the tables can get crowded with all of the food they serve. I highly recommend the cheesecake. The salads are also very good, and the four cheese ravioli is pleasant as well. It's a great deal for a group of college kids that want to get out of a meal hall.

I couldn't believe I had to wait an hour to be seated on a wednesday night. The food was not bad and the portions are huge. But I felt like there are not many original dishes offered. It's all pretty common Italian dishes. I thought they could offer more.

You're kidding right? Big servings - yes, good food - yes but not in the same league as the long-enduring but generally underated La Grotta or the yuppied Sotto Sotto.
