My boyfriend and I wanted to spend Valentines there, but as students a full menu is out of our price range. We booked our reservations 5 weeks in advance, with the note on our reservation that we would just get dessert and drinks. February

The dinner was very good. The waiter was also excellent. We would love to purchase a quart of the sorbet (strawberry).

Jonothan was a great server, he was attentive and explained the dishes perfectly in a friendly way. Amazing bread and mussel appetizer was delicious. The two dishes we had were lightly seasoned, perfect to get the flavor out of the fish and portion size was not too big and not too small. All in all it was a great experience. Pricey but if you have the money to spend this is a great date spot or family gathering.

My husband and I visited hear last night to celebrate Valentines Day. The ambience was great. Quaint & cozy. Great selection of wines and a wide variety of meal choices for every palette. While we were there, we spotted atleast 5 French customers. That?s when you know the food is good. We recommend this place to everyone.

I had lunch outside on the patio and the atmosphere is wonderful. Unfortunately it took about 15 minutes to be greeted by a waitress. Once I was noticed, she was friendly and attentative. I had the Croque-Monsieur (a favorite of mine) and theirs was wonderful! I had creme brulee for dessert - yummy! I will be back for the steak-frites.

I was in the mood for something less American and a friend suggested this place. The food was rich in taste, I was not disappointed at all. One entree is more than enough to fill you up. Price was reasonable

Here's the deal. This restaurant is as French as it gets in the city. The staff, owners, managers and even cooks parle vous Francais (albeit some with a Dude-Bro accent). Like any good bistro on the Champs Elysee in Paris or on the small back streets of Amien a true French meal takes time. The place will seem cramped and loud but the food an wine will be exceptional! I admit its not for most in this "I want it yesterday society" but I know most can grow to appreciate it, especially if you partake in the wine list as soon as you sit down. Granted my party and I went through two bottles of phenomenal Bordeaux before ingesting an ounce of Gazpacho or Escargot but we truly enjoyed the time we spent together. We got especially loud thanks to the good friends and good wine but no one seemed to care in the slightest (other than my girlfriend who kept telling me to quiet down). Anis is a place you go with people you don't just put up with for a few hours but people you truly enjoy spending time with and conversing. The menu is truly for the French at heart filled with cheese covered, cream-filled goodness (and of course calories). If you dare as I did be sure to hide everything, Parking is difficult on the weekends, they dont have many parking spots behind the restaurant and you have to be lucky to get a spot close by on the street. On a side note service is friendly and the food and wine are very reasonably priced.

I give Anis 5 stars for atmosphere. It's very charming and quaint...almost as if you are dining in a friend's garden. Even the food presentation was impressive. All of the workers were also very nice and pleasant.

The food, however, was pricey for the quality. My husband got the $30 filet...and sadly enough, Outback Steakhouse's is better. The house merlot was $7...

We've dined at many very nice restaurants in town and certainly expect certain price points for certain establishments but it seems Anis is charging their prices for the sake of charging them; not because of a higher quality in their actual product.

This was the worst dining experience my husband and I have ever had. We were not even halfway through our salad when our dinners arrived, 15 minutes too early, then having to wait until our waiter finally brought them back as they had been sitting under a warming light that whole time, drying medallions of what was supposed to be filet minon, turning them to shoe leather. The food itself was not of nice frensh restaurant quality. The chicken tasted as if it came out of a can of chef boyardee. I told the waiter of our displeasure, with little response except for a cold, "how dare you complain" attitude. We then left the food and will never again return to this restaurant. Cold, arrogant service, food brought too early and served dry and almost inedible. Our overall experience should be a rating of 0 stars. We will be sure to pass on to as many people as possible how deplorably horrible our experience, ....BAD BAD BAD SERVICE AND TASTELESS FOOD

This is a casual French Bistro. Unlike typical French restaurants, they do give you generous portions. I had the duck confit and mushroom salad, which was loaded with shredded duck on a bed of greens and mushrooms. If you wish, you can ask them to hold the mushrooms, it'll be just as good. I did not order the mussels, but they looked yummy. My husband ordered their special - monk fish, well worth the money. To top it off, their prices are great. This restaurant definitely climbed onto our favorite list. Bon Appetit.

Cons: Not a formal dinner setting, if that's what you're looking for

The overall experience was very enjoyable. We sat on the porch which was great. There is a good selection of wines by the glass. The menu is good, not great. I would say the best part of the experience was the low-key atmosphere that allowed for conversation.

My boyfriend and I went to Anis last night to celebrate his birthday. We decided to go there just because we got $10 gift certificate from restaurant-dot-com and the description on that website sounded good. We made a reservation, but it didn't seem necessary when we got there. We sat on the patio where there was a live jazz band. The asmosphere was lovely and casual. Although people around us were above 50 and dressed sophisticated, we felt very comfortable. (We were in jeans and sneakers.) The waiters/waitresses/ were nice and pateint. They had to stop by 3-4 times before we could make a decision. Everything on the menu sounded great with an unexpectedly low prices, for the quality. We both agreed that they definitely gave us more food than other French restaurants. We ordered Escagots, Anis Bouillabaisse, and a rabbit pasta dish, and they were fantastic. The cook used a lot of herbs, especially garlic and paper in the escargots, which I loved. At the end of the meal, we got a chocolate cake and coffees. When the bill came, we chatted with the waitress and told her that it was my boyfriend's birthday before giving her my card. She came back with the new bill and the cake was taken out. We were surprised.
Bottom line: if you want fine food without dressing up, Anis is the best place. For a great bargain, buy a gift certificate from restaurant-dot-com.

On the way to Lenox Square today, to finish the last of our Holiday Shopping, we decided to treat ourselves to the perfect Buckhead lunch. And what a tasty treat it was. We started with a nice glass of Clois de Bois, and both ordered the perfect French Onion Soup. Plenty of hot melted cheese, nicely browned around the edges, and just sweet enough. I had Anis's perfect Chicken Marsala, and my partner had Veal Piccata. Portions were on target, and excellent service by our French waitron. We love this place, so do the Buckhead Betty's. They always provide us with that perfect little touch of catty entertainment.

Anis is just what I have been looking for in Atlanta. It is small, unique, eclectic, had great jazz music, delisous French food (try the escargot!), and a delightful French waitress. The atmosphere was perfect for a date, although I would definately go back there for a night with friends. You definatley don't feel like you are in Atlanta!

Anis is a true Atlantan jewel. The food is superb and the atmosphere is authentic and very romantic. You truly feel as though you are in a bistro or cafe in the South of France. The moules frites taste as though you ordered them in a Parisian bistro. The food and wine is affodably priced and Anis is the perfect place to take a date.

I went to Anis last night with three friends. We were seated promptly out on the lovely patio, no problem. Then the problems started.

We were not given menus when we sat down and only 3 of us were given water. We tried to flag down a staffperson for menus, but they totally ignored us. They breezed by us time after time to tend to tables that were seated after us. Even when we made eye contact and waved to the waitresses, they just walked away. Finally, someone told us that the restaurant was out of menus - nice try, but we were sitting right next to the host's table and watched him pass 6 or 7 menus on to other tables. It took half an hour to get ONE menu for the table - the other three never came. We placed our orders more than half an hour after we sat down.

The wine list is good and my glass of wine came quickly, but the staff forgot about the bottle my friends ordered until after we had finished our appetizers - we had to remind them to bring it. I had to ask two different people for a glass so I could taste it.

The food is excellent, but the timing was off - we didn't get the silverware we needed when we got our food and they were slow to fill water glasses.

We did end up getting our wine for free, but it just didn't make up for the awful service - what was most frustrating was watching the staff tend to all of the tables around us while completely ignoring me and my friends. We had a feeling it was because of our age - we are all in our early 20s and were the youngest looking party there.

Bottom line: The atmosphere is wonderful, the wine is good, and the food is really tasty - but if you're not a distinguished-looking Buckhead native decked out in designer clothes, expect terrible service.

This place reminds me of classic great little hideaway bistros in small villages. I love to hear them speaking French in the bar. The steak frites are delicious, have it with a nice cote du rhone!!

I would imagine that the people that complain about service are used to having their a**es smooched elsewhere-that is not considered service to the French. They take the time, as you should when you are enjoying a meal.

This restaurant has the best sushi and a cost of $1.00 on Mondays and Tuesday. The service is impeccably professional and courteous and the ambience is pleasant and hospitable. I am confident that, once tried, any sushi lover ill be a regular customer of this restaurant.

Walking up to the entrance of Anis is like Stepping out of the Rush of Atlanta and into the South of France. The patio that sprawls out to the street is reminiscent of the of the sidewalk cafes we just don't have enough of in the US. The mussles are better than ones I had at a mussle house in Paris. The Chef de Cuisine really knows what he's doing! The wine selection was obviously picked by someone who loves wine. The waiters are pleasant, entertaining and human. My waitress actually made a mistake with my order, but her charm and her delightful French boss corrected it. I recommend the mussles WITH the frits, the foi gras, anything the Chef has for a catch and leaving your american fastfood/chain restaurant expectations at the door.

Lovely setting but downhill from there. They were out of stock of my 1st and 2nd choice drinks despite being on the menu. Then it took the waitress a good 15 minutes to come back and take our drink order for the 3rd time.

The food was passable, though not substantially different from what I might make at home. Not why you go to a restaurant.

The typical arugula and chardonnay Buckhead crowd didn't seem to notice the below par food or service.

Anis is one of the best restaurants I have been to in Atlanta. I went on a Thursday night and sat on the patio along side a wonderful jazz band. It is extremely romantic, and the food is amazing. The prices are also quite reasonable - honestly they could be charging more, but I'm not going to tell them that...I highly recommend the muscles - the sauce is SO GOOD - i used all the bread dunking it up....

Anis mixes good food & a cozy patio with a casual French attitude, it's precious. I prefer it at lunch when I like to get either a salad or the daily risotto special, both fabulous. Plus, I am a sucker for the bread & butter. The prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere makes you forget you're in Atlanta.

One of the most romantic restaurants I have ever been to! Great location right behind Buckhead but in a residential area so it's quiet and cozy. Located in a beautifully renovated little house with a gorgeous open dining room and terrace. The cote d'agneau is superb, the wine list fantastic. Only one bad experience: went with a boyfriend once and was seated right next to a huge (and loud) group. Not a usual occurence however.

I have lived and dined in paris, london, new york and now atlanta. The only thing French about this place is the service. Very stuffy and arrogant. I had mussels whihc were rubbery, Pork which was pink and cold. The Atlanta thrashers could have used the bread as an extra hockey puck as it was that hard and stale. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Anis charms. From its inviting patio to its pleasantly eccentric servers and its great menu, the restaurant takes you far, far away from Buckhead and serves up a good French/Mediteranean eating experience. Many swear by the risotto of the day, but I prefer the pasta dishes, simply prepared but always with a little something extra.
