Hey. Does anyone know about his partner Lance Kern? The man behind the scenes? Whats going on with those two? I read all these reviews of Vic, and I agree, but he's not the only guy doing these things.

This is unbelievable to me that this person has been able to get away with these scams! I too was scammed by Vic, with all his vocal cord disease and his parents cancers, I am very angry. I have in total close to 60 e-mails telling me that I would get a check soon. Of course they never came. I no longer live in Atlanta but am willing to investigate a class action against him or his estate

I also have been ripped off with Vic's consignment scam. I haven't been able to find "hide nor hair" of Vic since May. Anyone have any ideas on what we can do?

Agreed to consign a wonderful New York Swan sideboard with Vic Matich. Signed a consignment contract for payment of $1200 upon the sale of my sideboard. IT is now going on 4 years and emails full of promises of payment. Vic told me it the sideboard sold and he would send me my check. To this day, no payment and I am told that 20th century antiques is either going out of business or moving. I am assuming they are going out of business since Ebay has suspended the seller's account and other reviewers are also owed money.

My story is EXACTLY the same as another reviewer here. We too gave Vic a houseful of furniture to sell on consignment. We had done business with him many times over the years with no trouble - until now. We had the same type of contract as the other reviewer - Vic would pay us in 60 days no matter if the items sold or not - we agreed on a price for each item. Here we are more than 4 years later - he sold all of the items but we don't have the money - we did take it to the Atlanta court system - received a judgment but are still w/out our money! Vic and Lance lied over and over again, even tho they admit owing the money. We are out almost $12,000!

UPDATE!

We settled the dispute after twice going to court over this. Vic and Lance signed an agreement to pay - but - they still have not paid. Now we are out court costs, attorney fees PLUS our money! They still have the same excuses, still agree they owe us the money, still promise to pay...yet nothing. The shop is moved down the street in the alley near Bill Hallman. All of our items were sold. We didnt see the money. They claim to have no money to pay us. I am sickened over this and left with no furniture and no money, just frustration and disgust.

I have purchased numerous pieces of vintage furniture from 20th and their owner Vic Matich over the years and have always been satisfied until now. I gave Vic a collection of Eames, Saarinen, and Danish furniture, lighting, and accessories to sell for me on consignment. We agreed by contract on a price for each item (about 50% of value) and Vic promised to sell everything in 60 days and cut a check once sold. Well he sold everything just as he said and then completely stiffed me for over $8000. He sold these items for well over $15000, and then refused to pay me. Unfortunately now after two years of lies and false promises I am forced to work it out in the Atlanta court system. What a complete waste. I am so disappointed.

Unlike the previous poster, the person working the day I went was pretty nice and helpful. we were shopping for some wall decorations for a home office. We found a few paintings and a mirror that we loved (And they delivered them to our house for FREE!)
Though we were only looking for wall decorations, they have tons of furniture, Lights and fixtures, pillow and accessories. They also have a section of ceramics and arts and crafts - It is a hard place to define but a great place to visit - I am sure you will find something you like

I was on a mission to find a snow globe, the type that you'd find in Switzerland or France. It was meant to be a Christmas gift, and I searched far and wide for the perfect gift for my then-girlfriend.

Highly reluctant, I wandered into 20th Century. Only a skip and a jump from Neighbor's and Hand in Hand, I thought it was ideal. Worst case scenario: I wouldn't find the snow globe but at the very least I'd be able to stumble into a pub for a pint to drown my woes.

Unfortunately, the clerk working had no idea what she was talking about. I described the snow globe in a bunch of different terms (glass ball with confetti inside, snowy village, snow globe, snowy ball thingy made of glass with water and decorative stuff inside), but to no avail. I think I caught a temp, because she didn't know anything else to suggest to me, even after I told her the general theme I was shooting for (Swiss stuff). Thank the internet gods for eBay, huh?

PROS: Great location and what looked like a great array of antiques
CONS: Lackluster staff who really should try learning about their craft
