The Columbus Museum is a nice place to go for an afternoon outing with the kids. It's focus is on local Columbus history/people. There are replicas of typical living conditions that span different eras (Native American family in a teepee, a slave cabin, a one room school house, etc.) The museum even has an area dedicated to children. There you'll find dress up clothes for make believe, puzzles, etc. Upstairs is a gallery like setting with several interesting works of art. The museum also boasts a gift shop. Granted, it's small but it still stocks a nice array of items. Ample parking is located on the premises. Best of all, the museum is free!

PROS: Free!
CONS: Picture taking not allowed inside.

We have only been to Transformations, the children's section of the museum, but my 4 and 2 year olds love it! It's free, clean and fun. Very interactive and imaginative.

I love this museum. There is a little bit of everything-- the regional history gallery is educational and fascinating. The are displays are fantastic. But as the mother of 4, I have to say that the Transformations area for kids is by far our favorite. We could spend hours there-- and we do! The best part is, it is all free!!

This is an excellent museum, whether you are going as a family outing or just to appease the art lover in yourself. They have an interactive children's section that's very learning oriented. They have a wide variety of art displays, and every month feature something new. They also have a walkthrough area where you can learn about the early inabitants of this area, and see some of the wildlife that was once abundant here. They also feature a cinema that is rotated monthly, always with something new to learn. This is a very good place to go to break the tedium of regular family days.
